Help Identifying Customization Software

Hi there sifus and pros in the desktop customization forum.

Desktop

I stumbled upon this desktop and I find it very much to my liking. So I was wondering if anyone can point me towards the right direction in customizing my desktop to look like that. (ie. the side bar, CPU info, clock) What software/skin is involved in achieving this?

Thanks in advance!

External HDD Problem

I own a 320 GB WD HDD that is fixed within a External HD Enclosure. Its connected to my laptop through a USB 2.0 cable.

Before this, my HDD worked very fine. Fast transfer rate, fast browsing speed.

After bringing it on an AirAsia flight (I made sure to carry it beside me), the HDD seems to have some problems now.

When plugged in, the HDD gets detected and I can transfer files into it. Problem is, Explorer seems to hang when I browse certain folders that contain large video files. (My Anime folder)

Other folders can be browsed normally. Is this a HDD problem, or an enclosure problem? Both are still under warranty from the shop I bought.

Thanks in advance.

About Music Recording

I personally own a Yamaha DGX-220 Portable Grand Piano. Its connected to my computer via a USB cable, allowing me to directly record whatever I'm playing into the computer and save as a MIDI file. To do this, I either use Anvil Studio or Overture but I am still not very satisfied with the sound quality recorded in. It sounds... very hollow and empty. I want it to sound more like a Acoustic Grand Piano.

I tested with 2 midi files I downloaded from the internet and noticed the one that sounds better has alot of tracks even though it's just a piano piece. The other one sounds very empty and it only has 1 track in it. Below are pictures for those who don't understand. Taken from Overture.

I uploaded both midis for comparison.

My question is, which software is better at recording? If there are others that are better, do list them out.

I also read about VST plugins and I think that may be the key to solving my problems. Any pro can explain or guide me?

Pitch Bend on Keyboards

I personally own a Yamaha DGX-220 Keyboard. I was wondering how can I use the pitch bend on the keyboard properly. Like what type of songs really uses this function and also what instruments.

Laptop Cooler Problems

Recently, I bought a new Coolermaster Laptop Cooler and I'm quite satisfied with its performances. After plugging in the cooler into my USB Slot, it worked fine until this morning when the "USB Device not Recognized" message keeps on appearing at my taskbar. It appears on and off but one thing is sure, its my cooler causing this problem because the problem doesn't exists when I unplug my cooler.

Anyone experienced this before? I thought the cooler is just using the USB slot as a power source. So, drivers are not needed.

Any help here is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Action/Adventure Games

I know good action adventure games are normally on consoles and the PC counterpart which is ported will not be as good.
I just finished Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition on the PC and although it isn't a very good port from the PS2, I enjoyed the game play alot.
I was hoping to find another title on the PC with similar gameplay. High intensity action that requires quick reflexes.
Any other PC games like that?

Joypad problem

Apologies if this topic is in the wrong section.
Anyone who played Devil May Cry 3 on the PC will understand the problems faced when using a joypad. Be it a cheap Generic USB Joypad or a Microsoft XBOX 360 controller.

In my case, the game auto-detects my joypad. But the directions are all jumbled up. The analog sticks functions weirdly. Eg, pushing the left analog stick up makes the character move left and pushing the right analog stick left makes the character move up.

I have this software known as Joytokey that allows a button on the keyboard to be mapped on the joypad. But when I map up, down, left, right on to my analog stick, the directions are still weird because when I push the left analog stick up, the character moves diagonally (left + up).

Is there a way to make the game don't detect my joypad? Then I can use Joytokey to map all the buttons properly.

Thanks in advance.

Need some advice

I'm given the choice of purchasing either the Dell Latitude D420 or Dell Inspiron 1300.
Budget isn't really a problem here but between these two models, which one suits a soon-to-be college student who plans to use his laptop for assignments and casual gaming. (Must be able to run Pro Evolution Soccer 6 at decent fram rate! lol)

The specs are roughly like that:
Latitude D420, 12" LCD, Intel Core Duo U2500 Processor, 60GB HDD, 1GB RAM, DVD RW

Inspiron 1300, 14" LCD, Intel Pentium M735 Processor, 40GB HDD, 512MB RAM, DVD RW

I know the bigger LCD is better for media but about the processors. Which one is faster? I'm really outdated with these things nowadays. Still stuck in the era of Pentium 4.. Haha. Honestly, which one gives better performances for all sorts of things. Thanks for the advice in advance.
