Got a call from 'Maxis'

I got a call from a private number today, claiming to be from Maxis. The lady knew my name, IC number and home address and tried to convince me to switch to postpaid. She even knew exactly how long i've been using Maxis, so i agreed after reaffirming that i won't have to pay a cent till it's in ink. She said that she'll send some people over to get my signature and that the contract is binding for at least 6 months but the deal actually sounds pretty good. After checking the site, it seems to be the Value First plan where i pay 30 bucks a month.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but i've no idea where else is more suitable. After the call ended, i started feeling more and more suspicious about this. Does anyone have any idea if this is the normal procedure? Does maxis call people to change plans or could this be some sort of scam? Thanks in advance.

Something Corporate & Jack's Mannequin are 2 bands that have heavily affected my life. Buying a new laptop

Hey everyone,

I really hope this won't incite any flames. I'm a noob at technological stuff so after reading a few topics and researching online, i realised that i don't understand most of the computer jargon. So basically, i need help choosing a laptop
Recently, my computer internet went haywire and after the streamyx technicians came to help out they concluded that there's something wrong with my 'network adaptor card reader' or something like that. Anyway, since i'll be needing it in the near future, i'm going to get a laptop.

I have a budget of RM 3-5k and i'll be using it mostly for gaming, studies and entertainment. I'm expecting to use it for quite some time thus my willingness to splurge a bit. My friend told me to get Alienware and i looked it up, but i found them to be around 7k to 15k. Plus, i'm not sure if it's reached msia yet. For brands, i'd prefer Dell as i've only ever used Dell desktops. Macbooks would be fine but as i've heard they're not user-friendly and it's hard to play games on it. & if there is indeed any alienware around the price above, could someone please tell me?

I'm thinking of getting an Alienware m17 now.

The specs i'm considering are:

Intel Core2 P8600 2.4GHz
17-inch wideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD
2GB Dual Channel DDR3 SO-DIMM at 1066 MHz
Extreme Performance (RAID 0) 500 gigs (8MB cache)
Internal Wireless b/g (Full mini-card)

My questions are
1) is it worth upgrading the RAM to 4Gigs for RM700 more?
2) Is it worth upgrading the wireless network card to internal ulitmate N 5300 a/b/g/Draft-N Mini-Card with MIMO tech? & is there a max internet speed for my chosen network card?

I'm still learning about all of this so help will really be appreciated.
