Graphic Design to Industrial Design

I'm sick of working as a graphic designer. The constant OT, crazy clients yelling on my phone, so many urgent assignments everyday drives me nuts! I feel mentally exhausted and coming up with new ideas for advertisements has become a burden to me. So, I'm planning to quit my job, and start over with another course.

I thought about what I would like to do next, and Industrial Design looks right for me.
When I was small, I imagined myself to be an inventor. Create things that help people, solving people's problems. In secondary school, I took a RekaCipta subject. And I enjoyed it tremendously.
But I'm curious about the working lifestyle.

Anyone who is working in the Industrial Design field care to share what its like working in the industry? What software and computer do you use, PC or Mac?

Thanks a lot!

Best friend's ex-gf "may" have a crush on me

I'm not in a relationship or in love, but I need your point of view.

S and I have been best friends for almost 6 years. Recently, S broke up with his gf, somewhere late last year.
Very common break-up story right?

Anyway, I didn't know about the break up till his now ex-gf contacted and told me
about it 2 weeks ago (we met twice while hanging out with S and our buddies).
She wanted someone to hear her out, so I lent my ear and comforted her. We talked on the phone for more than an hour.

Now, there are several things that she said on the phone that troubled me:

1) She asked me if I have a gf (normal question, right?),
then she asked what was my 1st impression of her when I 1st saw her (huh?!),
then she said I made a good impression on her too...

2) Later that night, she called and wanted us to meet up for a cup of coffee
as a thank you for hearing her out.... and I accepted it. (We have not gone out yet, she's planning on it)

Of all her friends, why come to me for a shoulder?
Does she have a crush on me? Or I'm just thinking too much?
Should I go out for the coffee? I mean, we're just friends right?
Should I let S know about this?

Advice please!

Illustrator's space

Been browsing thru the forum, and I've not found any topics about working Illustration graduates. Thought maybe I'd be the first to start the topic (my apologies if this has been done before).

So basically, this is a topic for working illustrators. What are your working experiences after graduating from the illustration course, and what are you working as now? What is the industry like? And your advice to those who want to venture into this field. All illustration sifus are welcome.

After a Graphic Design Diploma

Hello LYN forumers! I've just graduated from college with a Diploma in Graphic Design, and I'm thinking of pursuing a degree. But the problem is, I don't know which degree course that accepts my diploma. So far the only courses that I found to be eligible is Interactive Media and Communication Design. However, I may not apply for them, as i don't realy like the flash scripting and advertising.

Anyone here faced the same problem? Or any other course suggestions? I've been researching for a month straight and no luck so far...

Mod may remove my topic if its unappropriate.

Previewing Illustrator icons in Vista

Hi, need some help here if anybody has this problem.

In Mac OS, you can see the AI or PSD files with the artwork it contains before you even click on them. Sort of like giving you a preview.
But when I use Windows, it doesn't do that.

Funny thing is, on my friend's computer, which is also Windows based, he's able to preview his AI and PSD files
I'm baffled, has anyone faced this problem?
