I am just wondering is there any possibilities of me converting my Malaysia driving licence to Australia driving licence?

My D licence is expiring soon and I am thinking if I should renew the licence for another 5 years or 1 year - I will be migrating to Australia this year.

Guys,

Recently, I have been granted an Australian PR visa and we are planning to move there somewhere in mid 2017. As many would say this is a golden and once in a lifetime opportunity - no doubt it is, but I am nervous and afraid; I will be leaving my parents, siblings, peers, friends and culture.

I understand that many or at least a few have left Malaysia for good. My questions for you guys are-

1. How did you prepare yourself?

2. What is the job market like? I am in the 20s and a secretariat, I am honestly afraid on not able to find a job; white collar.

3. What are the advantages as a born raised Malaysian in Australia? I am a trilingual but couldn't write and read chinese.

4. How did you adapt to the society and culture? Though I am married to one but I am not sure if my SO defines every Australian.

5. I understand that the cost of living in Australia is proportional to the wages, but how is living standard compared to a RM45k - RM51k annual earner in Malaysia?

Giving Birth in Australia

I am married to an Australian wife and now we are starting a family. She is now 2 1/2 months pregnant. We have planned to give birth in Australia so that our kid(s) will have an Australian Citizenship. I love Malaysia, but with the current situations; racism, religion and status, sadly to say but I do not want my kids not to have opportunities in their lives.

Plus we believe Australia is a much better country to be in. Better benefits, fair privileges, and of course better education systems. We have also considered private and international schools in Malaysia but the fees are extremely expensive.

Recently, a few colleagues of mine came up to me and they were talking about my kid(s) born in Australia. One of them; married to an Englishman, has a daughter that was born in Japan but later on registered in London, not in Malaysia though. I am not sure what she meant by registering the birth but I guess to obtain birth certificate? Someone please enlighten me here. Fast forward 25 years later, the daughter is also married to an Englishman and they were thinking of coming to Malaysia to settle down. Since the mother did not revoke her Malaysia citizenship, the daughter thought she could apply for Malaysia PR and by looking at this direction, I am pretty that you guys know that her application got rejected because her birth was not registered in Malaysia. She could not get PR even though the mother; colleague of mine, is Malaysian.

My wife and I are not thinking to migrate to Australia at this moment, maybe in the next few years. I love my parents and I am afraid to leave them. Parents and us are not staying together but I do visit them at least once a week and making sure everything is alright. If I were in Australia, it would be more difficult to check on them and such.

Another colleague of mine asked why not give birth in Malaysia? It would hell for me later because of the processes and other matters. After birth, we would want to bring back our kid(s) here until we decided / ready to migrate. My wife at the moment is under spouse visa and I was thinking is there anything similar for kids? Can someone advice me on this matter?

Back to my colleague, why not give birth in Malaysia? Since the mother / my wife is Australian; she is not planning to get PR since we do not see any reasons for that. Correct me if I am wrong, my kids could easily get the Australian citizenship in the future. Her reasons are simple, my wife and I decided Australian citizenship because of Malaysia's current situation and Australia is much better at this moment. What if in next years things turn around? If my kids were Australian, then they would have difficulties to get PR here and private colleges will be retardedly expensive for international students.

All of these got me in dilemma. I have not spoken to my wife about this matter, she wouldn't know much anyway. She is due in November and planning to leave to Australia in September. Gosh.. my time is ticking. My future and kids' time are ticking.

Good morning all, thank you so much for reading and I would really appreciate if you guys could advice me on the matter above. I need to understand the processes here and anyone with similar situation would be great.

Please let me know if you do not understand any of the parts above.
