Do I start a job vs. waiting on bgc

Hey guys,

I'm in the fortunate (yet precarious!) position of being the recipient of two wonderful opportunities lately, and hope you can help me sidestep any ethical issues that arise.

Last Thursday, I received a verbal job offer from Job A where they asked me for my start date (6 July), confirmed my salary expectations, and said they'd be sending me a formal offer letter soon.

Fast forward to Tuesday (30 June), I received and accepted a job offer from Job B. It was a no brainer - dream job, great company, twice the pay, and more in line with my career goals.

I signed the offer letter immediately and consented to a background and reference check through a third-party company

I know that background checks could easily take up to a month or two to complete, although the company has already set a start date for 3 weeks in advance. (around 20 July)

Job A has just sent me the employment contract and expects me to start on Monday.

I understand that nothing is for certain until offer letters are finalized and you've actually started your first day, and the last thing I want is to reject Job A, only then to be rejected down the line by Job B (especially in this economy).

Keeping that in mind, what would be the best course of non bridge-burning action for me at this stage? I want to be respectful to both amazing companies, while keeping my options open.

** Do I start work on Monday for Job A, knowing that if my background check for Job B clears, I'll have to serve 2 weeks notice / leave immediately? Would it be unethical to not inform them of this, as they'd have to restart the hiring process ?

** Do I ask for more time from Job A to reconsider, as a competing offer has just arrived? (even so, I doubt they'd want to wait for more than a few days, by which time the background check may not even have cleared yet).

My friends are telling me to just start Job A, as I'd still be technically on probation and free to leave with enough notice (eg. 1-2 weeks). Still, I'd be worried if my end date for Job A overlaps with my start date for Job B, and I'm not quite sure what to do at this point.

I'd really appreciate your advice - thank you.

What would you buy from America if you could?

Girls, my friend is coming back from America and asked if I wanted anything. Please give me suggestions as to what I should get!
I hear that their Coach bags are cheaper? I'm not sure. Anyway, what would YOU get?

Feedback regarding Disted A-levels

Hi, so I'm planning to enter the Penang Disted-Stamford college for A-levels next year. Any comments/experiences/advice? Please share, it'd help a lot. Thanks for your help ^^

Oh, and one more question. There are 3 common intake months: Jan, March, and June, right? So people who enter in Jan and June for A-level (arts) are doing 11 months, wheres the March batch joins the Jan batch and is behind by a month or so. Well, my question is, which intake do students normally apply for? And why?

I thought June, because I'd want some time to rest/work/play and also lots of leisure time to look at all the colleges in the world, and can also wait for results to come out + finish applying for all scholarships - then after everything is wrapped up in 6 months - then apply.

But my friend said Jan, is that true? I'd like to know. Thanks in advance.
