Hey guys,

Was wondering if you guys have any travel adapters to recommend for travelling overseas which also has a 2.1A USB port.
[WTA]Changing Win10 Taskbar Icons

Hi guys, yes I am aware of how to pin apps with custom icons onto the taskbar, however I don't combine my taskbar hence everytime I launch the pinned app (eg. chrome), it will always go back to its default icon, defeating the purpose of a custom icon. So I was wondering if anyone knows how to keep the custom icon even when the app is running? I've personally seen this happen so it should be possible

Here's a picture to show my issue [attachmentid=7879999]

Thanks

[WTA] 950M vs 960M

Hi there guys, currently studying in Aus now so I'm looking to purchase a new lappy. Stuck between these two:

http://www.msy.com.au/nswonline/notebooks/...2gb-gtx950.html

http://www.msy.com.au/nswonline/notebooks/...4g-gtx960m.html

So I was wondering is the extra A$120 (roughly MYR360) for the 960M is actually worth it? I'm guessing it's just a small improvement? Though benchmark scores are 1411 vs 1684 for the 950M and 960M respectively.

Hi there, supposed to renew my myKad due to reaching the age of 18 and I have a few questions to ask.

1) Besides my old mykad and myself what else do I need to bring? Is birth cert required? If so ori or photocopy can?
2) What is the process? Just filling in form take number and then take photo?
3) Do I have to go at the crack of dawn for this to avoid waiting for long hours?
4) After application (not in putrajaya) how long would it take before I can go collect it?

Thanks

New Windows 8 installation freezes

Hey guys, so lately I got myself a copy of Windows 8 Pro x64 and installed it on my desktop, specs below. The installation and setting up went without a hitch. Once in the OS however, 5 - 10 minutes in my fresh OS and it will just freeze. No prior lag it just stops and freezes, cursor cant be moved, nothing on screen is responsive, caps lock light isn't responsive too. After waiting for what felt like forever I unplugged the machine and restarted it, the blue windows logo and circle spinning thing showed and then just black, black screen. It's like that freeze just destroyed the whole OS. I thought it was just a bad install so I reformatted my partition and reinstalled W8. Then, it happened again, reinstall again and it happened again, I really can't brain what's causing it, maybe drivers but nothing seemed like it wasn't working Has anyone encountered this before?

Specs
Intel core i5-3550
4GB D3
500GB WD Blue
Gigabyte B75M-D3V
FSP HEXA 500W
Sapphire HD7850 2GB
TPlink 300Mbps Wireless Adapter

I haven't meddled with overclocking and the BIOS and I was able to connect to wifi and downloads stuffs before the freezes happened so the adapter is working, once I managed to get my graphic card driver installed and it worked too then freezes so I really can't imagine what is causing the freezes.

Hey guys so my friend got his new custom rig a few days ago, parts were custom but assembled by shop. Came back forgot the monitor so went back got monitor. Now plugged in everything from PC to monitor, the monitor keeps saying check signal cables. Even though we tried every port available (VGA and DVI port in I/O panel, as well as DVI slot in the R9 290) to both the RGB and DVI ports in the monitor, nothing seems to happen, no intro screen to the bios or anything just no signal. Mouse movement also not detected, putting windows disc in no response, all fans running fine in the PC. Any idea why?

Hey guys, want to bring my PC to my living room so I can use TV as monitor but keyboard cables and all across the room just isn't nice ._. So I was wondering is there any USB hub or box that can connect to my PC wirelessly?

Eg. wireless mouse has the mouse itself and a receiver.. What I'm thinking of is a USB box that has a receiver plugged into the PC so USB devices can connect wirelessly.. is it possible? Or are there better alternatives?

Recording TV, Will this method work?

Hey guys, I've been searching high and low for a budget way to record PS3 and XBOX gameplay.. I'm gonna be using RCA cables so I need a device that can convert RCA to a signal that my laptop can take, such as USB or VGA. At first wanted to go with Easycap but realized the quality is pretty horrible, so now I have to look for other ways.

I found this AverTV BoxW7 Lite but I'm not sure if it will work..

My plan is to hook up RCA cables from the console to the AverTV Box, then output VGA to my laptop and then record. Problem is I'm not sure how to record audio with that, and I also dont know which software to use..

I don't plan to buy a PVR because it's too expensive and I don't need a reording device, my laptop is powerful enough so I just need a good converter that can support at least 720p..

Hey guys, I know there's another thread already but that's pretty dead and the method I'm looking for is a bit different..

Before this I wanted to use RCA cables then Easycap to convert the RCA to USB then to lappy then record. Problem is that I just found out it's very low def, I'm looking to record my games at at least 720p. What can I use to replace Easycap? Or do you have a btter method to suggest? i can't spend too much though so Hauppauge PVR is a nono for now.. Thanks!

What other ways can I use to earn money?

So yeah a friend and I decided to partner up to create a gaming channel since we believe we have enough resources to do so. However this hobby is gonna use quite some money especially for games so we're thinking we should find a way to earn money with it so playing games will get us more games which will allow us to continue gaming. Problem is so far we've found out about Adsense and the partners program which doesn't sum up to alot. I have a friend who recently did the same, he started a few months back but won't reveal how he earns his money. Last I checked his channel has only a total of 4500 views but he has been raking in at least 100 bucks a month which is extremely baffling. Anyone of you know of any services that could bring that much? We just have the passion to game.

PS: We are aware that there are a billion and one gaming channels already on youtube, so we would really appreciate some constructive answers rather than telling us off. Thanks you very much

Usng Hard Drive on another PC

Hey guys,

so just now I hand gatal-gatal playing with visual styles, all the while I never had this problem before in moving authui.dll. But dunno why just now when I move the authui.dll out to desktop and attempt to put in original authui.dll, I can't. UAC didnt show up and n0ow Im guessing authui.dll is needed for UAC to work. To disable UAC I also needed UAC to work so now I'm stuck can't move the files. So now I'm thinking of taking this HDD out(with OS) and put into my other computer as 2nd hard drive then use the existing OS to move the authui.dll. Here's the thing, is it safe? I'm using it as a secondary drive to move files, not using the OS in it, but I fear the different hardware will mess stuff up with it. Will it?

Thanks

[addedon]October 2, 2012, 12:49 am[/addedon]This is my exact issue. http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=467927

But i couldnt do a system restore because I lack a login screen to even shutdown the computer, I had no idea how he did it.
