Debt advise involving exchange rate

I had a fren that borrow from me RM300 (USD100, USD rate at 3.0 since I change at money changer). A week later, USD exchange rate drop to 2.5...he want to pay back only RM250. what do you guys think?..should I be paid RM300 since he borrow RM300? or should follow USD exchange rate value? since my fren keep on defending that he should pay according to exchange rate...he's Caucasian btw..that's why

Please help to advise since he say all his fren asked him to pay me back according to latest exchange rate..

Solar or Semiconductor?

Hi Lyn Members,

if you guys have a choice to choose either Solar or semiconductor company, which one will you choose?

i have a fren, working with semiconductor company, but solar company now offering him a post, possible with better pay..but my fren very comfortable working in semiconductor company and had work for 5 years...

he asked for my advise, and hope LYN members also can give advise..thanks

Work at home saves RM500

KUALA LUMPUR: The Works Ministry’s work-from-home programme has helped its employees save up to RM500 a month.

Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said the 39 staff members who participated in the three-month programme were able to save on transportation and food expenses since the programme was launched on Jan 1.

“They are able to save money on toll, petrol and also maintenance for their cars. Since they are working from home, they don’t need to face the rush hour traffic before and after work.

“Their satisfaction lies in not only saving in costs but also in avoiding the commute from home to office and back, which may take up at least three hours a day if they don’t have their own cars,” said Shaziman.

Data from the programme revealed that 33 participants were happy and satisfied with the scheme while six others were unhappy with it because they felt lonely, he added.

Shaziman said the committee implementing the programme found the scheme to be more suitable for married employees who preferred to be at home with their children and not for young, single civil servants.

“The programme is found to be a success as it helped to increase productivity rate by up to 85%. The Government has allowed for it to be extended for another three months.

“Under the second phase, there will be less supervision of staff. Supervision will now be conducted on a monthly basis as compared to periodically under the first phase. “We hope to provide the staff flexibility as long as they produce efficient results from home,” he said.

Shaziman said 20 more staff from three departments in the ministry would begin working from home under the second phase.

Assistant surveyor Rohimah Ahmad, who is from Sungai Buloh, said she was able to work efficiently and faster from home.

“I am able to complete one task in three weeks, as compared to a month because of the flexibility. Since I’m a single mother of eight children, this programme has helped me to monitor them as well as bring home the money and cut short my time on the train,” said Rohimah, who has worked for 17 years with the Public Works Department.

The programme is open for staff working under three categories in the ministry – draughtsmen, technicians and assistant quantity surveyors.

Under this scheme, selected staff work from home and communicate extensively via e-mail with their supervisors.
