wanna ask will state car number plates affect the 2nd hand value of a car?

say a W** car plate car in KL selling as a 2nd hand can fetch a better price than a C** same model and year car in KL?

so, can we say its safer to stick with W** if we intend to stay long n sell the car later in KL itself?

Dear sifus,

I'm on the verge of getting a Mazda 3 2.0 CBU July 2009 model, with mileage abt 40k km.

If the car is well maintained so far, i.e: service on time, etc;

may i check:

What to expect from such 2.5 years car?

1) Especially, In terms of the things/parts/cost to be replaced due to tear n wear.

2) Anything in specific for a M3 2.0 CBU to look out for in respect of item 1)?

Kindly guide and enlighten a noob like me if im considering getting a 2nd hand car from a direct owner.

what are the precautions to be taken?

I had done the following:

1) car identified and met the owner; it's a first owner, a middle 2009 car with abt 40k km milleage;

2) brought a used car dealer friend to nego the price as well as checking the car's structure/body conditions for any accidents before, etc.;

3) JPJ registration card obtained;

4) test drove the car, seems ok;

5) what next? need to get a mechanic guy to check it up? or sent to service centre for diagnosis?

means car registered in Labuan / Sabah, sure using their road tax...so can we drive it in KL?

say, for Fairlady, it's about RM 850 road tax there, but KL is 4k.

Dear Sifus,

Wanna get your input.

I came across a 2nd hand car dealer who is selling a brand new Camry 2.4 at almost 30k cheaper than market price.

It had been registered a month ago, and now being sold as a 2nd hand car.

I had seen and checked the actual car.
Condition is perfectly new. When queried, 2nd hand car dealer just said some kangtao transaction was made between his boss and someone higher up in Toyota.

2nd hand car dealer also said despite being sold as 2nd hand, the car will enjoy first hand car loan interest rate at 2.55%

Is this a scam too good to be true or it is possible?

Second hand car - Accord 08/09 vs Camry 08/09?

Dear all sifus,

Kindly enlighten this noob in me..

between a 2.0 Accord and 2.0 Camry, both i can get for either year 09 or 08, which would be better?

assuming both are equal in terms of car condition i.e. normal service and no accidents, etc...which would be a better bet as per the below factors?

factors : 1) maintenance cost/issues

2) any major issues/flaws that may had been discussed/ proven/ crop up after this 2-3 years in use by the 1st owner?

3) fuel consumption?

4) should i get a 2.0 or 2.4?

5) resell value (though i guess it is roughly the same)

6) potential near future facelift? as i know this camry version had been around since 2006 while this Accord was introduced in 2008?

7) any other issues?

Currently the market for such models is about 100k-120k, depending on condition n milleage, etc....

Therefore, it's kinda tempting apart from the road tax n insurance.....

need sifus' advise on maintenance costs n timetable - i.e frequency of the service, costs of service, cos i'm not really a car guy, but more like a racer guy.
