A viral post on social media claims that Singaporeans are using Malaysian number plates to fill up with subsidised RON95 petrol meant for Malaysians.

PETALING JAYA: Foreign-registered vehicles found using Malaysian registration plates to purchase subsidised RON95 petrol could face strict penalties under the Road Transport Act.

Johor road transport department (JPJ) director Azmil Zainal Adnan said owners of foreign vehicles displaying Malaysian number plates could be jailed for up to five years, fined RM20,000, or both.

Azmil was commenting on a viral post on social media claiming that Singaporean drivers were changing their number plates to Malaysian plates before filling up with subsidised RON95 petrol meant for Malaysians.

“Singaporean drivers are reminded to comply with the regulations,” he said, reported Berita Harian.

“We will continue monitoring and conducting intelligence operations to identify and take action against this misconduct.”

Azmil said Malaysian law requires all motor vehicles to display registration numbers clearly at the front and rear of the vehicle as stipulated by JPJ.

After being out of service for many years, the Battersea Power Station has finally undergone restoration, becoming a popular destination for both local Londoners and out-of-town tourists eager to explore this iconic Grade II* listed landmark and its collection of more than 100 stores, restaurants, and other entertainment venues.

On October 12, the £9 billion ($1 = RM5.14) Battersea Power Station will be officially unveiled, and on October 14, the public will be allowed access.

A five-day "Festival of Power" honouring the building's distinctive heritage and its contributions to British culture will begin on October 14 to commemorate this momentous occasion.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah are scheduled to officiate at its opening.

His Majesty expressed delight in the capability and success of Malaysian-owned companies and government agencies managing businesses and investments in the UK during his special visit there last year.

The Battersea Power Station is owned by a Malaysian consortium that consists of Sime Darby Property Bhd and S P Setia Bhd, each of which holds 40 per cent ownership; the Employees' Provident Fund owns the other 20 per cent.

The commercial assets within the power station building, located south of the Thames are now directly owned by Permodalan Nasional Bhd and EPF.

British-based Battersea Power Station Development Company is managing the development.

The Battersea Power Station project covers 17 hectares with 3.5 million sq ft of mixed commercial space and 4,239 new housing.

Some 20,000 jobs have been created as a result of the property's successful regeneration, giving locals long-term professional options.

Additionally, a new NHS medical centre is being constructed.

The five-day festival will begin with a tour of the building for Malaysian journalists, who will also be among the first visitors.

The building is designed by Wilkinson Eyre, one of the top architectural firms in the world with a portfolio of daring, stunning, and brilliant award-winning buildings.

A Battersea Power Station commercial and retail tour, a KOA residential tour, and the Lift 109 experience are all included in the itinerary.

The Lift 109 is a special glass elevator located inside the northwest chimney that provides an incredible panoramic view of London from a height of 109m above ground level.

Powerful earthquake hits Mexico on fateful anniversary, killing at least 2

MEXICO CITY, Sept 19 (Reuters) - A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck western Mexico on Monday on the anniversary of two devastating temblors, killing at least two people, damaging buildings, knocking out power and sending residents of Mexico City scrambling outside for safety.

Two died in the Pacific port of Manzanillo, authorities said, one crushed by the facade of a department store while another was found dead at a mall. Videos on social media showed the roof of the mall collapsed into the top floor, a gym, as people yelled for help.

Authorities also reported damage to several hospitals in the western state of Michoacan near the epicenter, which was in a sparsely populated part of Mexico. One person was injured by falling glass at one of the hospitals, the government said.

The quake hit shortly after 1 p.m. (1800 GMT) near Mexico's west coast and close to Michoacan's border with the state of Colima - where major port Manzanillo is located, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

It was relatively shallow, at only 15 km (9 miles) deep, which would have amplified its impact.

The U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning for coastal areas, saying waves reaching 1 to 3 meters (3 to 9 feet) above the tide level were possible.

Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said there were no immediate reports of major damage in the capital after the quake struck, which rumbled through Mexico on the same day as destructive earthquakes battered the country in 1985 and 2017.

"It seems like a curse," Isa Montes, a 34-year-old graphic designer in the city's central Roma neighborhood, said of the quake's timing as helicopters flew overhead, surveying the city.

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), one of the country's most prestigious seats of higher learning, said there was no scientific explanation for three major quakes on the same day and attributed it to pure coincidence.

But others could not quite believe it.

"It's this date. There's something about the 19th," said Ernesto Lanzetta, a business owner in the Cuauhtemoc borough of the city. "The 19th is a day to be feared."

Thousands of people were killed in the Sept. 19, 1985 earthquake and more than 350 died in the Sept. 19, 2017 quake.

Many Mexicans reacted to the latest quake by posting an array of memes online venting their anxiety and finding humor in the natural disaster. read more

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador also noted material damage near the epicenter. Images posted on social media showed buildings badly damaged.

Mexican authorities said the seismic alert had sounded nearly two minutes before the quake struck, giving residents time to evacuate.

Still, some people in the capital struggled to grasp it was a real quake as the government had already sounded the alarm earlier in the day as a practice exercise commemorating the past earthquakes on the same day.

POWER OUT
In Coalcoman, Michoacan, not far from the epicenter, pictures showed shingles knocked off homes and building walls cracked by the force of the quake. In one store, merchandise was scattered across the floor.

Power was knocked out in parts of the trendy Roma neighborhood in Mexico City, some 400 km (250 miles) from the epicenter. The national power utility said outages hit 1.2 million users.

Roma residents stood on the streets cradling pets, while tourists visiting a local market with a guide were visibly confused and upset. Traffic lights stopped working, and people clutched their phones, sending text messages or waiting for calls to get through.

Clara Ferri, who owns an Italian bookshop in Roma, said she told a customer to get out as soon as she heard the windows rattle, her senses attuned to the sounds of incipient earthquakes after 16 years in the location.

"It was like the dentist's drill for me," she said.

The rumbling grew in intensity, and as Ferri gathered with neighbors at an intersection, she looked up to see the eight-story building that houses her shop sway from side to side.

When she returned, shelves had toppled like dominos, sending over 1,000 books into heaps on the floor.

Officials roped off the sidewalk, which was littered with masonry that appeared to have fallen off the building. Residents trickled out with pets and suitcases, preparing to spend the night elsewhere, and a woman carefully escorted her 89-year-old uncle in his blue-and-white striped pajamas.

Brown garlic, ginger, half tomato and half onion in a sauce pan
Dry sear pork belly in a hot wok
Put the belly into the sauce pan and add Xiao xing wine, oyster sauce, honey and soy sauce and simmer, add water to cover the pork belly and let boil until water reduced to sauce
Serve

Stir Fried Cabbage with Tomato, Garlic & Cili Padi - Hell Spicy
Garlic and Cili padi into hot wok with cold oil until golden
Add sliced tomatoes into the mix and stir well
Add fish cakes, then cabbage, season with white pepper and stir fry until cabbage is cooked, serve
