Job Description

1. Supports existing systems (servers & storage)
2. Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots Solaris (Unix) operating systems.
3. To handle case escalation on failure of operating system, LDOMs, Zones, SUN Cluster and hardware.
4. To handle parts replacement, firmware and patch upgrade as required by case owner .
5. Job based on One Year contract basic and to be placed at client data center.

Requirements:

1. Degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent with minimum 2-3 years working experience in related field.
2. Familiar with SUN/Oracle (Unix) hardware technologies.
3. High availability clustering server experience in production environment
4. Experience with global and local zone architecture on SUN SPARC server hardware
5. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
6. Ability to communicate confidently with partners, vendors, users and all levels of staff.
7. Positive attitude and eager to learn.
8. Good communication skill-both written and spoken in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
9. Strong sense of urgency, time-management, and able to work under pressure.
10. Excellent customer and communication and presentation skills.
11. Customer facing skills and excellent team skills.

During the interview, focus and channel your strengths on how you can benefit your new organization. How will your strength help a small company grow in market share? How will your strengths help the company increase sales? How will your company help the company reduce attrition?

To answer any of this, you need to do your research about the company and industry. If the industry is suffering, chances are your future employer is too. So what can you do to help solve a portion of the problem?

Remember people, its all about your benefit statement. If someone asks you why should I hire you, you give them your benefit statement.

95% of candidates will answer, you should hire me because I am hardworking, self starter,.I have an MBA, I am an analytical person and bla bla bla.

You need to take it a step further, what can your MBA do for the company, if you say you are analytical, how that can help the company. If you say you are motivated and a self starter.. how can that attribute help the company?

Question: How long should a resume be?

Answer: A good resume should be 4 pages long at the maximum. I know a VP of an international bank, once he asked me for some help to pass his CV to my head hunters, I got a shock when I saw his CV, it was 13 pages long. I told him, my head hunters know what I do for a living and they will not accept a 13 page long CV, and its a bad reputation for me.

Hence I helped him to make his CV 4 pages long, with an impressive cover letter, he then was invited to 9 interviews and he finally got to choose which employer he wanted to contribute to. He picked an oil & gas company.

There is a reason why a CV should only be 4 pages long. Recruiters or hiring managers are getting thousands of resumes. Dont believe me? Go to Jobstreet.com, and you will see for each application thousands are applying for. So imagine, do you think they review each and every CV? NO!

I used to do hiring sometime back, and trust me when I say your heading of your CV will be the deciding point; if your CV is worth reading. Most of the time, people are A class employees; however their CV is saying otherwise, hence it does not even pass the preliminary selection.

So keep it short, simple and concise. It will make a big difference in your career.

If you are a fresh grad, keep it to 2 pages max.
