Luno support questions

I'm a foreigner on a MM2H visa. I'm bitcoin-only, and I have managed to open accounts with Tokenize and Sinegy. I tried to open one with Luno, but the bot would kept sending me emails saying to re-submit my visa photo because it wasn't clear. It was clear; but the problem I think is that the option was for a Long Term pass visa, which MM2H technically is; but the bot wants both sides of the visa. The MM2H visa is in the passport; so only one side. Does anyone know how to contact a human at Luno support? I would also like to know if people, in general, are happy with Luno. If I can't contact support now, what would happen if there were a problem later on? e.g. with bank transfer?

Luno support question...

Last year I tried to register with Luno but did not succeed in getting verified. I am a foreigner here on a MM2H visa; and Luno's options for verification did not have a suitable category. I have accounts with Tokenize and Sinegy; so it is possible for a MM2H visa holder to comply with government regulations. But it seems that Luno is more of an international exchange; and they might not have detailed knowledge of local Malaysian regulations.
Does anyone know how I can contact Luno support to see if I can get verified?

PCR test CT

A while back I was in a hospital emergency room, and was given a PCR test. I asked the doctor what the cycle threshold was for the test. He did not know. I read the news every day, but i never see this subject discussed. I think at the beginning of the pandemic most places were using 45 cycles, based (I think) on WHO recommendation at the time. At that level positive results can be obtained for any matter tested. Since then the WHO recommended threshold has been lowered to (again, I think) 28. Anything over that and there are too many false positives. The inventor of the PCR tech said that it is useless as a means of tesing for covid. Recent findings show that the test cannot distinguish between covid and other viruses such as flu or common cold. So with over 20,000 positive cases/day in Malaysia I wonder how many are false positives. Those with no, or mild, symptoms could easily be false positives resulting from a too high CT for the test. Does anyone know what CT is being used?

hardware wallets out of stock

The two Malaysian companies that I know of... bitstore.com and tianceresearch.com... seem to be out of stock on all hardware wallets. Does anyone know of another source for hardware wallets in Malaysia? I know one can order directly from Ledger and Trezor; but I prefer to deal with a local company to avoid the hassle of dealing with customs duties etc..

What's happening with tokenize? They put out a notice about suspending trades due to "volotility" or something like that. Crypto markets are always volotile... so it seems like something else is causing them to stop trading.

withdrawal to own wallet

If I want to buy bitcoin and have it sent to my hardware wallet, which of the three legal exchanges are the best bet? It seems that Tokenize and Sinergy are designed for traders... i.e. since they make more money with frequent trades, they want clients to keep crypto on account with them.
I'm asking here because the details are difficult to find on their websites. Yes they have FAQ's, but it seems to be slanted toward traders. So I am wondering about how difficult/expensive it would be to have btc sent from these exchanges to my hardwallet? One of them says they use 'smart contracts'... so would I have to go in and out of eth to get my btc delivered?
I wish there were more exchanges so that there would be some competition. Maybe a company like some overseas that deal only in btc, and require that one has one's own wallet for storage. i.e. an exchange for hodlers rather than speculative traders.
Anyway, does anyone have any experience with just buying btc and having it transferred to their own wallet?

KYC verification outsourced?

Of the three approved exchanges... does anyone know if any of them do their own kyc verification? Or, as is common practice with many exchanges in other countries, do they outsource it to another company?
There is no way to be certain that ones information is going to be protected... they all promise to protect it, but so many big companies' data gets hacked. So promises aren't worth much.
If an exchange does their own kyc, then at least the risk of it getting hacked is a single factor. But if they outsource then the firm that does the verification is another factor... and probably a more likely one since they would have the data of many more individuals.

banks vs. exchanges

Now that Luno, Sinegy and Tokenize are officially approved can banks still refuse to transact with them. i.e. can banks close clients accounts because they are buying/selling cryptocurrencies? Anyone have recent experience of this? Are some banks more friendly to crypto than others? I think some people have found UOB to be friendly. Is this so? Any others that can be recommended?

So it looks like the government is starting to implement the new regulations and allow some exchanges to operate again in Malaysia. I would like to know where I can find the new regulations, when and if they are published.
Specifically, I would like to know what the rules are regarding taxation of profits realised in the buying and selling of cryptos.

how to buy a Trezor wallet?

I see that Bitstore Malaysia advertises itself as an authourized Trezor reseller; but on Trezor's own website they are not on the list of authorized resellers.
So I have been told that it is best to order directly from Trezor; but I am wondering if anyone here has had experience doing that? i.e. what is it like dealing with Malaysian Customs... is the trezor delivered to one's house, or does one have to go someplace (like National Courier/Pos Laju) to pay the duty and collect it?
opendime

With the ever more strict KYC/AML regulations happening in the cryptoworld I wonder if there will be more interest in private person-to-person exchanges. I am not aware of any such meetups, where coins are bought and sold, at present in Malaysia.
But I can see the demand for this if the bull market returns. The trust issue can be overcome if there is the adaption of a product like OpenDime... https://opendime.com/
I would like to know if there is anyone selling opendimes in Malaysia. i.e. either a retailer selling blank sticks, or a bitcoin trader selling loaded sticks.

best modem/router?

I'd like to know what is the best adsl modem/router to connect to streamyx. I realise that it shouldn't matter what operating systme one uses; but I'd like to hear from Linux users who have an opinion as to what is the best modem. Quality of construction and ease of use more important to me than price.

Linux and Streamyx

I'm hoping some Linux user will be able to tell me how to configure my Riger ADSL 2/2+ DB 102 Modem for Streamyx.
I got this modem a couple of years ago with the Streamyx account; and I was using it with Windows XP with no problem for about a year.
Then I switched to PCLinuxOS and also had no problem for about another year.
Recently I bought a cheap laptop (Compaq CQ40) do check out some other distros... but have not been able to get any of them to make the ADSL/PPPOE connection.
Also, since playing around with different distros, some difficulty has arisen in connecting with PCLOS. I have to configure the network connection each time I boot. So I'm guessing there's been some change to the modem's configuration.

I realise that there is a Riger DB102 modem thread here in Networking Tech Support... but it's a bit confusing. Lots of different advice and opinions.
Also I would like to know if any Linux users have had success in configuring the right mode for this modem.
No wireless involved.
