So I got January intake for UTP

So I got the EDUCAMP thing on the 11/12, for UTP's January 2013 intake. What should I expect there. They ask us to bring calculators so there should be some kind of test right? Is it part of further elimination test or just an evaluation?

I'd be very upset if I blow this chance.

One-arm handstand pushup

Hi there. It's my first time posting a topic here.
So here it goes. I've been trying to search in Youtube for any videos of anyone doing a one-arm handstand pushup. So far the only ones I found are assisted ones or they use 'kipping' to get themselves up. Can humans actually do a true one-arm handstand pushup? I want to see if the people here in Malaysia can do it, because forumers from other countries seem to have none who can do them.

As in, get into a one-arm handstand, and then lower yourself down. Not into a planche, and not against a wall, and the other arm is not doing anything to help with the pushup, like creating momentum to help 'jump' the body up. Not even from a 'crocodile' stance (one arm elbow lever). In strict form, preferably leg and body almost straight up. Some even claim that this feat is theoretical. I see pictures of Jim Bathurst do it in Convict Conditioning, but admittedly even he can't do it he said. The picture is just for show, what it would look like if you were be able to do it. Yet that is still with feet up against a wall.

Oh, and BTW, although I have been staying away from handstands for a while because of a left shoulder injury (which has long been cured BTW), I am going to try and do this. I'm re-learning how to stand on my hands again. It'll take years probably but I'll try anyway. My progression will be trying to do a true one-arm pushup first while learning a handstand, and then a one-arm handstand. Then assisted, and then see where I could go from there. I think I'd train for this before I gain TOO much muscle weight and weigh myself down.

JVC has done it:
http://www.itmedia.co.jp/lifestyle/article...18/news107.html

It's a 5.8mm x 2 + 8.8mm. It looks almost like an FXT90 only with an extra driver at the back. They come in silver coated cables (FXZ200) and OFC copper cables (FXZ100).
So basically you take an FXT90, tune the twin drivers differently, add steroids so it grows a woofer at the back.
Dang....

Starting problems

Hi there. It's been a long time since I've been active here.
So here it is:

Lately, starting my Myvi 1.0 is getting more difficult. Sometimes, especially after it has been left for a while, The starter will crank the engine once (not even a strong one), then a delay for a second (maybe a bit more), and then finally it will crank and start the engine.

Sometimes however, the engine will not start up. It will just crank (after that delay bit) and it will not turn on its own. I need to get the key back to the 'ON' position and try again. Usually at the second try (and sometimes more) there will be a 'tick-tick-tick' sound coming from somewhere in the dashboard at the passenger side.
It's 7 years old, so small problems like these are usually expected. So what could it be? Does my starter need servicing, or problems with ignition/injection, maybe the relay? I have replaced the spark plugs. Also once the engine runs, it runs smoothly. Oh, and cleaning the battery terminals momentarily fixes the starting problem if the engine is still stubborn and won't start up at all.

I'd like to have a crack at it myself, but I have no tools that are fit to do the job at home. Is there anything that I can check for myself?

Regarding UTP

Hi there.

I've recently graduated from Politeknik. A Diploma holder in Automotive Engineering. I was hoping to get into a good engineering Uni, and actually, UTP and UTM came up in my mind. IINM, UTP is a private uni (IPTS) and UTM is government (IPTA). So I don't need to apply UTP through UPU right? Oh, and UPU will only be available next year, January, won't it?

I purposely did not apply for UPU as I needed a break, after studying in the Science stream collectively for 7 years (I didn't know stress was a big deal until recently during my time at poli). I lied by telling my parents that I did not get any offerings (they thought I applied). I did that because I am concerned for my mum who will dramatically make a huge fiasco over one little thing (I am 23 now, but heck I'm not in a hurry ). I got caught when my dad called UPU.

BTW, is UTP good? I don't mind not being able to get any credit transfer to shorten my course. Also other choice is UTHM (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn). I'd like to know more, preferably from people who has studied there (UTP or UTHM).

Anyone from Kuching?

I am currently in Kuching, and I am from Sabah. I'm not familiar with this city so I'm asking here if anyone knows of any good half cut shops. I'm looking for an electric motor. Heavy duty wiper motor(used in big industrial vehicles) or electric power steering motor preferably. My team and I are building an electric vehicle using it.

Not much help from friends in this place, so hope I can find help here. Oh and if someone is selling these things PM me. Preferably COD though.

FutureSonic Atrio vs Radius DDM

So, these two have one thing in common, GREAT BASS! Despite being away from me for so long, the DDM's sound sig stays in my memory better than any IEM I've ever owned. To me, it really is that good.

However! It isn't very comfortable. As much as I remember the sound, I also remember the pain it caused to my ears. My outer ear gives up waaaay earlier than my eardrum and mood. It kinda puts me off. Like a bottle of milk being taken away from a baby while he/she is still happily suckling on it. I can force myself to listen for longer, but that leaves me with a reddish impression on my ear concha. Not to be mistaken with bad fitting, it fits great for me. So the issue here is finding a more comfortable IEM but having the same sound sig as the DDM and with the same price. The Atrio is a candidate because compared to the DDM, it gets basically the same comments in reviews, so I assume it has about the same sound sig as the DDM.

So if anyone can comment/compare how these 2 sounds, it will help me a lot in deciding, whether I keep the DDM, or sell them and get the FS instead. Also the toughness and reliability of the Atrio. The DDM is away for warranty because of a faulty jack, and I treated it like a newborn baby. Also it must be the newer Atrio(the one with the MG7 driver) which is said to have a better treble. What I listen to is what the DDM fits the most I presume, as I liked it with just about every material I have.

Oh, and don't say the Atrio is better because you have a higher chance of getting a cheap DDM from me. Who knows, I may have them both.

Will be paired with an HM-601.

Hello sifus of ICE

Hi there!
Okay, here's the thing. After I graduate my father planned on me setting up a car audio/accessory shop, for me to experience what it's like having to handle customers and also gain work experience.

Then here comes the research bit. All I'm seeing are cars going "boom boom boom" and a lot of them are very young people who can afford them. I don't see a lot of rich "uncles" going into these. Well, it seems they're not interested in getting these done to their car, and surprisingly, so do I.
I would like to introduce more attention towards quality audio rather than having them participating in the "volume war".

My father expects me to do this, my parents are planning on giving me the cash to set it up, and with quite a number of competitions in my area, I need something a bit different. Are there any brands that are known to produce quality audio.
I know tehse can be more expensive then the traditional "super powerful amp + the biggest sub you can find" combo, as you also need to think about speaker placement, the type of amp, the power supply, interior shape, all that. This is just to provide something different, only if the customer wants it. Any brands worth mentioning produce that kind of sound, know for their audiophile quality? They might not be well-known so that's why I'm asking. I'd like to know anything, from the conventional tech right through to the state-of-the-art kind.

I'm 21 and I have years to do research. I hope to get a degree in Mechanical engineering(automotive) in around 3.5 years. Planning on working in such shops first to learn before venturing on my own.
Is this a bit much to ask?

[WTA] Guitar restorer

My dad's guitar suddenly came up in my head. I've been wanting to fix it lately, possibly when I have a job.
Anyways, I want to know if there are any good, reliable and trustable guitar repairer/restorer.

This guitar is a discontinued Ovation, I think a 1614, but I'm not so sure. Just want to have everything in it restored back to how it was, like the electronics, the strings, etc. I don't think it has any cracks though.

I'm not a guitar player myself, but I hope to learn and use that one day, but mainly as a gift for him one day, as a surprise.

I'm from Sabah but I'll take anywhere in Malaysia.
I hit the left front wheel with something and I noticed after that the steering wobbles.
minor case would be the rim is bent but I fear the worst. Could be tie rod or anything more expensive to replace.
So I want some diagnosis and some price estimates.
It starts at about 40km/h, and gets worse at 60. Not that bad of a wobble, but the frequency at 60 can be considered a vibration than a wobble.

My dad wouldn't trust me in checking the car so I can't verify if it still present at higher speeds. He won;t let me remove the wheel for inspection either.

My dad bought this one because he's afraid a more powerful one will make us tempted to buy more games for it, and it worked, we hardly play any on it.

But the speed is q bit frustrating if I were to start up an application so to minimize my blood pressure( ) I want things to start up just that little bit faster.

Not bothered to buy another one since I'm not a heavy user, and games are played on a dedicated console.
DDR2 is being phased out, I just hope here in Sabah, things are a bit slow and we still have some left. I want a 1GB one, but prices for higher RAM will be appreciated as well.

TQ!

UPDATE!:
I also want to know the price for a budget GFX. Preferably in the ATi Radeon series. I know of the X1300 and seems perfect but I dunno the local price for it.

Also anything with a higher spec but reasonable price hike would also be good.

I've got Politeknik Kuching, Diploma in mechanical engineering(Automotif). However I'm not sure about the facilities and the courses provided and I'm rather skeptical. I was thinking of Industrial design but instead I got this.

So please, anyone?

Two of my friends have S40 devices(one is a 5610, the other I forgot, but a 6120?)

The story for both is quite similar. They let another person play with their phones and somehow locked it. They then tried to insert the security lock code number to regain access. Eventhough the code was correct, it won't work. One of them(the 5610) fixed itself within a week.

So is this an S40 bug?

I mean, it's a money no object thing, name the price no matter how expensive.

I'm not gonna buy one, but who knows, if ada rezeki.
And also, what do you guys have?
