Hi guys,

Anyone know any shop online selling this communicator device? My Blackberry Priv is dying and according to a few sources this is the best replacement phone. Problem is I don't see any being sold in Malaysia and after what I went through with my importing my Predator Helios 500 AMD Edition I don't want to buy direct from them.

Buy laptop from Amazon must have MCMC license?!?

So I got fed up waiting for Acer to bring their Predator Helios 500 AMD Ryzen edition to Malaysia and after almost getting scammed on Lazada (only one seller- and he cancel my purchase then want me to bank transfer money into account, very suspicious ), I decided to bite the bullet and buy from Amazon. Import duty and Tax already settle by Amazon and taken during checkout, expected smooth sailing.

This morning wake up found that the laptop kena ketam.

Call ask why, they say must have MCMC and SIRIM license.

WTF? It’s a personal use laptop. Why need a F$¢K!ng license?

Fine, fill up forms.

Now want RM100 fees.

Now I understand The Who. “Meet The New Boss, Same As The Old Boss” indeed.

I posted this before to the 3DS user thread, but no reply. Problem is serious.

My Animal Crossing New Leaf 3DS XL developed a crack on the hinge

I googled it and it seems that the problem is quite common and all always develop in the same area.

Anyone know what I can do if MMSoft cannot/refuse to repair? I think the 3DS is still in warranty (bought end of June, only 5 months into the year). I don't want a one-on-one replacement since 1. This is a special edition 3DS XL which I don't want to give up, 2. I don't want to initiate transfer unless absolutely necessary.

Why Nintendo eShop not available in Malaysia?

I really cannot hold this back anymore and feel I need to voice it out. Why doesn't Nintendo want to launch eShop in Malaysia? eShop/Wii Shop is important for every Wii, Wii U and 3DS user.

We need Wii Shop to be able to transfer data from Wii to Wii U when upgrading. We need eShop to be able to update SwapNotes and other apps in a 3DS and DSi. Also, since we're already spoiled by Sony and Apple, I feel it much more comfortable to carry multiple games in a single SD card than extra pouch with multiple cartridges.

Other companies like Sony and Apple, and even Microsoft, already launch stores for their consoles and devices in Malaysia. Why is Nintendo holding back?

Don't get me wrong- I like all four companies equally and am not taking any sides- I am still angry that XBL Malaysia has no Gold membership and thus cannot play online- but that's for another part of LYN. I also own a DS Lite and a Wii and will definitely get a Wii U once an Animal Crossing game comes out for it. But I'm just unhappy that I cannot officially download the migration tool to transfer my current Wii's game saves over to the Wii U, and not happy about how difficult it is to buy a downloadable game for the consoles, and as mentioned before I've been spoiled by Sony and Apple that I prefer to download everything onto one single SD card.

Yes, we can switch to a region with a store, but we cannot use our credit card or debit card - apparently the Brazil trick doesn't work anymore. But even though it can be overcome by buying prepaid cards from online stores, I feel that we're not getting a good deal, since each purchase tend to include full cost of card + whatever charges the shop want to charge us for. Plus it's technically grey market and we get no support from Nintendo.

Isn't it about time we all write to Nintendo and ask for them to launch eShop for SEA region?

Hi guys,

My PS2 slim clock battery died. I took it apart and found that it use PCR2032 battery. Which looks like computer CMOS battery but has wire coming out of it to a tiny header that plugs into the PS2 motherboard. I got my father to search all over Pasar Road already but still cannot find.

Before I turn to ordering it from the internet, anyone can provide me information to where I can go to find for the battery?

TQ in advance, Playstation Sifus!

RAM in slot 4 of motherboard cannot recognize

So I have a Motherboard with an AMD Athlon64 x2 3800+ AM2 CPU. It has 4 bars of DDR2-800 RAM (4x512MB for a total of 2GB). Two days ago, the machine suddenly beep nonstop while hang, and cannot reboot. I've done the usual RAM shotgun testing and found that all 4 bars of RAM is okay, but the system cannot boot if there is any RAM in slot 4.

Running on two or three bars when there is four slots is not acceptable to me, so I written it off as motherboard damage. Furthermore, since just two months before this the PSU exploded, I don't want to invest any money in new RAM just in case the motherboard suffered byzantine damage and the other slots also die later. But now I realize that on AMD systems, the RAM connect directly to the CPU, no parts of it go to a dedicated MMU chip on the motherboard?

So my question now: Which one is at fault? The CPU itself or the motherboard?

WTA: Motorola Photon Q

Well, I decided that I want to throw out my HTC Chacha because it's a POS that is always complaining of low memory. I happened across the Motorola Photon Q online, which I want because I like phones with a slide out qwerty keyboard.

Apparently it's 4G LTE is not compatible with Malaysia, but it's 3.9G HSPA+ support 2100MHz which is good enough for Malaysia coverage.

Anyone know if any shop in LYN selling the titular phone? This Chacha really on last legs oredi- rooted it to throw out all the Singaporean, Indonesian and Filipino nonsense it comes with and it still complains of low memory. Of course I know it will be AP set.

Petition UniFi to bring in BBC Entertainment

So I got tired of hearing about all my foreign friends talking about Doctor Who on Facebook and other forums I'm in.

I created a petition to ask TM Hypp.TV to bring in BBC Entertainment. So we can get the Good Doctor again.

The URL is http://www.change.org/petitions/telekom-ma...c-entertainment .

Astro dropped BBC Entertainment in 2009, denying fans of various shows (particularly Doctor Who). They replaced it with ITV Granada, with the reason that AC Nielsen claims that no one watches BBCE anymore.

Now, TM HyppTV has a few BBC Channels already, but they still don't have BBCE. Figure I'd give it a shot and see if I can get 100 signatures to justify my means- I understand they'll only bring in a channel if there's enough demand for it.

Thanks!

Component to VGA box?

Ok. Since recently trying to read text in dialogs on RPGs output by the PS3 to my 19" Sharp is so difficult unless I sit near to the screen that I decided that it's time to delegate the Sharp to basic TV viewing where reading the screen isn't crucial and get a bigger TV for gaming, preferably one that is 3D enabled and Full HD so can play 3D games on PS3 in full shining glory.

Now, my problem is, all the models in my list only has one component port but 4 HDMI. But they all have a VGA port also. I need two component ports because both my PS2 (still active because PS3 Slim has no PS2 BC) and my Wii are using component port for progressive scan video. Don't want to pull in and out because scared of connector lifespan, and find it very tiring.

I think the best way to tackle this is to put in a VGA box between the PS2 and TV. Problem is, are they still being sold anywhere? I don't see them being sold at computer shops anymore?

Mac OS X Lion and DLink NAS DNS-313

Long story short, I bought a DNS-313. But now I find out that the SMB protocol it use is for some reason incompatible with Lion- Lion keeps saying that I don't have permission to access the disk, even though the disk is set to allow R/W by everyone and has no password (this is only a test setup using a old 120GB disk while I wait for HDD price to go back down- this NAS itself I found at All IT going for crazy low price).

Big headache, Mac Mini with Lion cannot access the drive with Finder. Other computers can access, even Mac OS 9 equipped with Dave can access the drive without problem.

From what I understand, the problem is due in part to D-Link's implementation of SMB. But also due to Apple dropping Samba from Lion and developing a in-house replacement that does not have all the features Samba has, one of which needed to work around the DLink bug.

Already tried Dave for Mac OS X Lion. Doesn't help. Only two things that works is MuCommander, and even that it's not stable, or use terminal and POSIX commands (rm, cp, mv, ls, cd) after mounting disk, even if Finder says I have no permission.

Yes, I considered Webian. But then Webian is hosted on Megaupload instead of a proper file hosting system like Sourceforge for some reason Cannot access Megaupload even when change DNS on Yes

WTA: PCL3c driver for Mac OS Classic

I just got a HP OfficeJet 7500a because I need to print A3 paper. The printer is connected to a network with Windows and Linux boxes along with a PowerMac running OS 9.2.2.

So far, I've managed to get the printer working on the Windows and Linux boxes. However OS 9.2.2 has been very stubborn. First, the printer is raw socket print only on network. The Desktop Printing Utility only supports LPR.

I've threw in a D-Link DPR-1061 Print Server and connected the printer's USB to it. Now the Mac can see it in Appletalk. Even my Windows 3.11 retrogaming box can see it and print in color to it using PCL3c Deskjet 500C driver(!)

However now I have second problem. No PCL3c printer drivers for Mac. All the drivers that come with Mac OS are postscript drivers, and I cannot find any drivers that can install a PPD on Mac. HP's drivers for other PCL3c printers seem to only mess up the printer and crash the Mac. None seems to install a PPD.

I've been told about a third party driver called Strydent PowerPrint, but they seem to have ceased to exist.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Upgrading to OS X is not an option, as I also need to use a particular device that is not compatible with X. Using a Linux box as a PSRipper is a possibility, but I'm hoping to use that as a last resort.

Recording from UniFi IPTV?

So after a long waiting period, countless nightmares, lost contests, face rubbed in mud by rival, destroyed pride, etc. I finally got my UniFi over the weekend. Now, because I now have a long day job and even need to go outstation often now, I'm forced to record the shows I want and go through them in the weekend because I'm usually too tired to watch the show if I'm not out of town for a few days.

I have a One DVR6656 DVD recorder bought from Makro a few years ago. It has never failed me when I need to tape Astro before there was Astro PVRs. I usually get my aunt, who is at home, to record the show for me. So I wired up the set top box to the AV1 of the recorder just like the Astro was. It appears to work, STB receiving image clearly.

So yesterday have some shows I wanted to watch. I told her the times of the show and their channels and head off to work.

When I came home, I was told that the recorder cannot record the channels. Keep stopping by itself.

I went and have a look.

On pressing record, the recorder display the message "Signal Copy Protected" and stop the recording.

Dunno how this can be. The decoder is connected by RCA. There is no HDMI connection to the recorder. Quality is of course lauya, but I can't be too picky.

I tried to record other channels. Even RTM1 cannot record

Never thought PAL Macrovision was possible.

Where can I buy Teufel products in Malaysia?

Hi all,

Anyone know where I can get Teufel product in Malaysia? I'm looking for a Decoderstation 5 to decode and switch the input to a Creative 5.1 speaker set from the coaxial out of 2 PCs and the optical out of 2 PCs, as well as a 5.1 signal from one PC. As I understand it the Decoderstation 5 fits the bill. I cannot have a full amp kit since my room is already packed to the brim and has no space for full size speakers (the Creative speaker in question is a A500- cheap, but relatively good quality sub and does it's work well).

I'm tempted by the sub-RM1000 price on Amazon UK, but I don't want to go through VPost after they lost my package for the third time. So I want to get it locally. Problem is I cannot seem to find a Teufel distributor in Malaysia. Anyone know any shop selling one?

WTA: Can PSOne use S-Video cable?

Just wondering if the PSOne can support S-Video cable. I bought a second hand guncon cable that has S-Video and composite out. The cable is fine when I plug into PS2 - both S-Video and Composite working, but when I plug into PSOne only the composite working. So I was wondering if the PSOne can support S-Video or not. If can, is the pinout different from PS2?

The PSOne also send for service before because of fried composite out in the past. Is it possible that the technician didn't do good job that he fix the composite out problem but broke the S-Video in the process? I got call the shop already, shop say PSOne cannot support S-Video, but Internet seems to say otherwise?
