Pet Lovers - Know your neighbours well

Here's a two faced neighbour caught in the act of frightening her neighbours with fire crackers. I just can't understand the mentality of the people these days.

The sick part is - she taunts the cute fella even when they're not making any noise. Look carefully and see how this woman cleans her tracks after blowing up the crackers.

Dude who shot this video is a good friend and his dogs are very well trained. They only bark when there are strangers near the gate or when they are uneasy about some loud noise like the garbage trucks.

Video is 12mins long and covers a few dates.

Ford Focus ST vs Megane RS

Say "Hot Hatch:.. almost certainly everyone will say the Golf GTi.. well it did dominate the scne for a while though.

Mention Megane RS you get some nods of approval... mention Ford Focus ST, some will be lost in translation..

That's probably because not much is said or heard about the Focus ST, to make it worse, there is not that many on the road to begin with

Finally after some common reviews, there is shootout between the Megane RS and Focus ST, pretty interesting story but I feel they should have included the Golf GTi for added measure. And then of course, the Megane RS, thats a car built for track purpose right from the factory, so it really in my opinion did not do justice to the Ford.

If want to know what I am rambling about, check this out, Ford Focus ST vs Renault Megane RS 265.

Car price reduction, what can we expect?

Hello folks

Pretty interesting days are ahead for all of us car owners and buyers. *Please, lets have a civil discussion. no rants and govt bashing replies. Thank you in advance.

Prior to elections, both Barisan and Pakatan pushed their manifesto of cheaper cars to the people. While BN took a more gradual approach PR had more drastic and immediate approach to the topic.

But now, the new government has been formed and we can definitely look forward to something. Paul Tan wrote an interesting article on car price reductions - pretty interesting look at how car pricing are structured, expecially for CKDs and how the taxes come into play. Read it here - http://paultan.org/2013/05/05/ge13-poll-da...-cars/#comments

After reading this, my thoughts would be the govt might start by reducing some of the taxes (excise or sales) and maybe push the brands to reduce their price as well. Even with a 20% reduction, it may make a lot of difference for some of us. I guess we will have to wait until Budget 2014 in the next 5 months to see what direction the govt will take.

I am also keen to see reduction in intra-city tolls - I dont know where and when this would be effected but in some serious hotspots like the LDP coming out of Puchong could use some toll reduction.

I sure would like to hear your thoughts especially some members here from and those who keep a close watch on the auto industry.

Cheers!

KL International Motorshow 2013

Hi Guys,

The Kuala Lumpur International Motorshow (KLIMS) is taking place this year. and according to this source, KLIMS 13 – Major brands coming out in full force, the will also be a number of launches scheduled.

An interesting observation is the Efficiency in Motion theme for this year's show. We may get to see an expanded availability of energy efficient cars maybe new hybrid models and electric vehicles.

Ok..that's nice. But, the Feed-In-Tariff for energy efficient vehicles is expiring this year and I dont remember recalling any news on a review to continue. Maybe the show will be platform to extend the FIT to be permanent. We will all know how this will afect us after elections.

Personally, the last KLIM that I enjoyed was the 2006 event. I felt that the 2010 event was big letdown. This year we read about quite a few motorshows held at the international stage with Shanghai as the latest one. With all the concepts showcased there, I wonder if what we will get to see here.

Apart from that, I would like to know what you guys, my fellow car nuts, expect from KLIM. Have you guys enjoyed the previous KLIM events? What do you want to see?

Extremely appealing this new Mondeo

This is really worth mentioning.

Liking the new Mondeo already, even better, this one comes with the 1.5 Ecoboost engine with 177hp. The best part, it's a 3 cylinder engine

Very commendable for large car like Mondeo. Wonder if Sime Darby will be add this to the local market if it comes - with the 1.5 engine.

For some reason, I have feeling SDAC will push for the 2.0 version with a premium pricing.

source: New Ford Mondeo

MAA seeks longer Feed-In-Tariff for Hybrids

This is interesting. I guess many of us are hyped up about hybrid / energy efficient vehicles that we end up missing the fact that the Feed-In-Tariff ends this year.

What is the FiT?

Well, it's the import and excise duty exemption given for hybrid or energy efficient vehicles under 2000cc given out during budget 2012 for two years and it is expiring end of this year.

It's the main reason why we got to see some really affordable hybrid vehicles in the market in likes of the Insight, Civic, Prius and more recently the A6 hybrid. Although the A6 was not affordable to many but it did sell out thanks to the competitive pricing.

The way I see it, the hybrid market is growing and some of us are probably holding back due to the lack of choices in the hybrids that are offered locally. If the tariff ends and is not renewed, i dont think anyone would be encouraged to pick up a hybrid. There goes the dream of owning an A6 Hybrid for some who missed out on the bookings this year.

Source: MAA seeks extension of Feed in Tariff for Hybrid cars

Envelop - External Airbag from Volvo - Fuuyoh!

This is some pretty cool technology from Volvo!

They are working on "external airbags" for added safety to the car and its occupants.

If this goes into production... man.. It will definitely reduce damages to you car in the event of a collision. The bigger picture, may even reduce impact to the occupants.

I guess it will work well in low to medium speed collisions - so driver behavior still decides how safety tools like this work

Great stuff from Volvo.. people will still remember Volvo for safety for years to come

Damn this is cool! More about this tech nology here - Volvo Envelop Safety System.

I love my comics... and I am sure someone in Kia's design division just adores Wonder Woman...so much they decided to design a car for her.

See more of the Wonder Woman Ride.

I think it's cool...and being a comic fan, it's nice to see cars made for the Justice League characters – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.

I wonder if they will make hero cars for Marvel heroes..

Nice to see what the Hulk would drive

New Vios - Looks good or not?

I've never been a fan of the current generation Toyota Vios. It feels like something lacked in the design department compared to the first generation.

Some people took to calling it a dugong...i can see why.

But if anything goes by, the latest generation Vios looks much better with the redesigned nose although the rear may require some "getting used to".

What do you guys think? More pics here - 2013 Toyota Vios Spyshots

MMM getting ready to sell Mitsubishi i-Miev

Looks like Mitsubishi Malaysia is getting ready to roll our some EVs on our roads with the i-Miev - i-Miev Teaser by MMM

Kind of like the idea of pure EVs but is it really practical on our roads? Asking because, with hybrids, you have a petrol engine to back you up.

With EVs, you practically have to charge the car over a period of time to enjoy a certain distance of travel based on the level of charge available.

Yes, it does save us money = fuel cost will be zero. But, are there enough facilities out the for practical ownership of EVs like easily accessible charging points?

World’s 1st Diesel hybrid - for nature lovers!

It’s the spyshot season all over this week. Here’s a latest one snapped in Putrajaya… The Peugeot 3008 Diesel-Hybrid.

We’re all aware of how efficient the petrol hybrids arewith great fuel economy figures..

Now here’s a Diesel hybrid. Diesels are already frugal in fuel consumption. I wonder how the Diesel hybrid will fare.

This 3008 Diesel-Hybrid looks set to hit the showrooms soon. I bet the Hybrid fans will be excited…reduced tax plus savings on fuel spending.

Some early details and pics from paultan.org here: 3008 Diesel Hybrid.

No indication of launch dates though.

VW Golf Stationwagon

Official photos from VW on their Golf Stationwagon. Wonder if this will make its way here.

Great for thrill seeking daddies

More pics here : VW Golf Stationwagon

No details on pricing or specs yet, as this baby looks set for Geneva. In any case, if it makes it to our shores in the future, this will be a great option among the limited stationwagons sold here.

Speaking of limited, wonder why car brands limit their estate offerings. Most stationwagons we see today are the premium one in the RM200,000 and above price range.

guys check this out. Here's the supposedly new Nissan Teana...Loooking damn good...better than Space Cop Gaban's Camry..

Wonder if this is the model that makes it way here... this is soo much better than the current Teana and with the promised tax cuts...heheheh I think we all can afford one.

Article in Paultan.org says this one will come with a 4 cylinder 2.5 engine instead of the V6.

http://paultan.org/2013/02/28/2014-nissan-teana-unveiled-in-china-based-on-altima/

Any Teana owners here who can share how their 2.5 v6 performs? Consumption...maintenance etc?
