Painter Recommendation - Klang

Hi all, i'm looking for a painter to paint my house. I'm located in Klang. Does anyone has any recommendation for Painters in the Klang Valley area? My current painter does a very bad job (no floor protection, no touch up service on damaged wall, thin coating of paint etc), would like someone better to finish the job.

Hi, which plaster ceiling paint has the best quality or whitest? I know people use Nippon Matex, Jotunplast and maxilite for plaster ceiling. I have heard that Jotunplast has a yellowish tint conpared to others, is this true ? Which one do you recommend ? Do I need to apply primer first for this ?Thank you.

Feature Wall Inquiry

Hi, i'm planning my renovation. would like to ask, sometimes i visit show rooms, noticed they built feature walls in master room, with functions to hide the door to the closet.

With regards to these feature walls, are they applied on an existing brick wall/ plaster wall? or is it a hollow wall, something similar to a plaster wall?

Is it possible to install wall sockets or drill nails to hang picture frame on these feature walls?

Who should i engage in terms of these feature walls? (Carpenter? Plaster ceiling guy? wall panel companies?)

Is this more expensive than build a new sand brick wall?

Wardrobe - Melamine/ Carpentry

Hi all, in the market, are there any quality difference between melamine wardrobes made by different carpentry companies in Malaysia? I've noticed the price range for melamine wardrobe can range from RM450- RM800 per foot run. Between Melamine and MDF wardrobe, which material would be more sturdy? Besides, do you have any carpentry company to recommend for custom furniture? (shelves, wall panel, bed, shoe rack, tv rack etc.)

WPC SPC Flooring Specs What to look for?

I'm currently shopping for SPC and WPC flooring. Based on my understanding, WPC feels better on the foot but less durable than SPC. SPC feels hard, but more durable than WPC?

As for Specs:
For SPC Flooring, based on what i can find, it ranges from 4mm to 7mm. In terms of wear layer, based on google the thickness's from 0.2 to 0.7mm. Some has underlayment some doesnt?

If i'm shopping for a Mid-High spec (not too expensive) SPC Flooring, what spec should i be looking for the best value? (balance between cost and quality, at the same time no issues such as color degradation from UV damage, Vinyl plank damage from moisture, scratched easily, not flexible?) What would be the cost range? Any brands or companies to recommend? I've looked at Floor Depot, the prices are too expensive i think?

Hi, very insightful video! About SPC, from 4mm to 7mm thickness SPC (4mm and 5mm are common here), what thickness would you consider low quality? Medium quality or high quality? In terms of wear layer, what would be the thickness for these qualities? (commonly found 0.3mm in my country's market) As for underlay, in terms of sound reduction, other than cork, is EVA a bad choice? I can only find EVA and PE foam here. A flooring seller told me they do not distribute cork underlayment as it will dissolve during usage, any comments on this? Should I avoid SPC without added underlayment? If I have an existing ceramic tile floor, do I need to dismantle these tiles before installation ? Any potential problems if kitchen cabinets are installed on top SPC and ceramic ?

WOW - Tz, thats a lot of good questions... Here goes...
1. 4-5mm are the most common thicknesses but quality is determined by the intended use and expected foot traffic. 4mm is fine for residential and light commercial use. The thicker options would be more suitable for heavier commercial or slightly more uneven substrates.
2. Wear layer grades would have the same answer as above. Thinner for less foot traffic and thicker for commercial. 0.3mm is fine for your home.
3. Underlayment, the greater the mass of the underlayment the better the acoustic benefits. I would choose the option that has the best density and compression memory (when you squash it..., how easily does it compress and how quickly does it spring back?). Cork is an excellent option and your advisor sounds biased to the options he/she is selling. Cork is a very well known acoustic medium and highly proven to be an excellent underfloor system. If the substrate is wet or no damp proof membrane is installed, cork when exposed to continued moisture will break down as it is a natural product but so will these other EVA and foam underlayments. This deterioration however is a result of incorrect installation rather than a faulty product. If installing on cement or tiles, just install a plastic DPM down prior to the spc (with bonded underlayment). This should be done with any SPC version if installed over cementitious substrates. An underlayment IS ALWAYS advised if floating the floor (Not gluing the floor to the substrate) warranty requirement. SPC without underlayment bonded to the underside is just a marketing tactic. You still need to buy underlayment as mentioned above.
4. You can install SPC over tiles if there is no major height variances between tiles. Maximum of 2mm variance over 3m diameter. If height variances are a problem, you can lay a lite screed over the top of the tiles. Again, this requires a technical process and best to follow screed manufacturers instructions for this situation.
5. Installing kitchen cupboards on top of your floating floor could cause a problem with other floor types but should not be a problem for SPC. It really depends on the weight of the filled cupboards and the compressive strength of your underlay. I would generally always advise clients to install cupboards first and leave the bottom kicker plate off. Install floors and then fix kicker plate. This saves you a considerable volume of flooring material that would have been installed under the fitted cupboards which will never be seen. Cost saving.

I hope these answers have helped slightly. I can always recommend chatting to professional flooring installers for advice. The saving of doing it yourself or hiring non-experienced labour without the right knowledge can put the entire project at risk.

Hi all,

I would like to know how do we calculate the cost for wall hacking, building a new wall, convert an existing space/ extension, tile removal of existing tile and installation of new tile/ flooring?

Cost Guideline/ Calculation help needed for the below 6 items:-
i.) Wall hacking (Sand Brick Wall)->
calculate by wall dimension? or wall length (ft?)

ii.) Building a new Wall to partition big spaces ->
calculate by wall dimension? or wall length (ft?)

iii.) Convert Existing balcony to be part of master bedroom ->
Same cost as room extension? Calculate by sqft?

iv.) Extension Cost ->
How much by sqft nowdays for a 12-13ft height wall? \

Hello, i had just completed my foundation education recently (MUFY). I am a science background student, however i feel kinda bored with science related subjects, i feel like taking business related subjects as my degree. I have been wondering which is a better degree to take on, either Bachelor of Business and Commerce or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting). I will be studying at Monash University.

1.) Which degree is better in terms of career prospects?
I heard Bachelor of Commerce major in Accounting and Finance is the way to go for a bright career prospect.

4.) From what i heard of, is it true that a degree in business and commerce is useless?

5.) Is it true that grads from business/ commerce are struggling to secure a job in the market nowadays due to the vast number of business/commerce graduate each year? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

If the market is terrible, i might consider electrical/electronic engineering as my option.

I want to study Information Technology/ Computer science for my degree.
So in Mufy course, i take these subjects,
English, IT and Maths.
One more subject to choose, I don't know which one I should choose.
Since my additional maths in high school is just average, I don't know advanced maths is okay for me or not.
I saw other courses like accounting, economics and globalization.
What exactly is globalization and economics? I totally got no idea about the units.

I'm a SPM leaver, since SPM results are coming close, i need to make a decision fast on which college/University i should choose.

I'm interested in computers.

From what i heard, the best course to study for degree is "Computer Science" without any specializations, since it offers broader area of career prospects and builds strong fundamentals than studying in a specialized course? Is this true?

I took a look at the courses offered by the Taylor University. So far, they only offer :
- Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) (Computer Security and Forensics)
- Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons)

They no longer offer "Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons)" starting from this year.

Besides, I heard people said that any degree in Computer Security and Forensics are just plain useless? Since, computer security and forensics stuffs are to be built on hands-on working experience? People also said that, Companies don't hire graduates from Security and forensics? Are these true?

In The end, i'm not really sure which degree i should take on from Taylor University, since i don't really hear people study Software Engineering for their degrees.

Anyone has opinions according to my questions above? Is Taylor University a good place to study Computer stuffs? Is Computing a good course to study for a stable economical future? Any recommendation for places to study instead of Taylor?
