Pregnant and looking for gynae

Hi there,

We just found out that I am pregnant. Wondering what to do next? I haven't gone for a scan.

We're starting to look for obgyn doctor to engage with, do you have any recommendations? Who are the well-known ones around our area? We're based in KL so we're looking at these hospitals - Pantai, Gleneagles, Columbia Asia setapak, Ampang Puteri.

Also, how do I research a doctor's track record in checkups and delivering babies?

Would really appreciate some advice, this is our first pregnancy.

Hi all,

I would like to start trading US options. Just want to know what sifus here use for the broker? I'm already using Interactive Brokers for direct stocks. Wondering if there is a preferred broker for US options traders in Malaysia?

TIA!

Where to store emergency funds

Hi LYN experts.

I've got about 6 months worth of emergency savings that I want to park somewhere. What would be a good option?

Since it's for emergencies, it needs to be fairly accessible. Right now it's in the same account that I use on day-to-day basis but I'd like to separate it for better visibility.

Considering:
- Any basic account (lacking attractive interest rates tho)
- high-interest savings account (which one?)
- FD (will this allow me to withdraw in times of emergency?)

I've also heard of money market funds. I'm not familiar with that but willing to consider if it's a good option.

Interested to hear your 2cents. Thanks!

Buying first family home - advice please

Hi LYN!

We are first time own-stay home buyers, and I'd appreciate advice from pros in this forum.

We have saved up money to buy our first ever home after renting in KL for years. This was our goal for 2020 before the Covid-19 crisis started ☹️. Is it still a good time to go ahead with this plan? What will the housing market be like? We do have additional savings that is apart from the home purchase savings.

Besides that's, we'd also like recommendations on properties to consider. Some points:

- Downpayment budget ~RM200k (can maaybe go ~RM100k more if house needs no renovations)
- Renovation budget RM100k
- 2-storey landed house, preferably semi-detached possible?
- >3 bedrooms
- Gated community
- Within greater KL area (preferred areas are Desa Park City, Hartamas, TTDI)
- Don't mind brand new or sub-sale house

The thing about Hartamas and DPC is there's no LRT/MRT station within walking distance. We both drive but it would be nice to have that amenity.

Lastly, how do we even start the proper search process besides online? We have looked at some houses but we still feel a bit out of depth. What would be a good place for resources of information?

Thank you for your time and stay safe!
I bought a hair tool from Amazon US but later found out can't use in Malaysia coz of voltage different. 😥

I want to return it to Amazon at least get a refund. Does anyone know how I can do that from Msia? Seems Amazon return options only drop off in specific locations in US.

I used EziPoz as shipping forwarder btw. Can anyone help pls? Thanks in advance.

iHerb order not reaching me

Hello,

A month ago I ordered $35 (~RM155) worth of items from iHerb on 7th Jan. I used DHL with tracking, and the last status update is that it’s been shipped out on 16th January.

I suspect my package could be stuck at customs. My order value is way less than RM500, but I did order some vitamin. How do I find out? Maybe call the customs office? Any advice is appreciated!

Need to quit job for less than notice period

Hi All,

I urgently need to leave my job of almost 2 years for personal and family reasons that require me to leave the country. However, I'm leaving the country in slightly more than 2 months, when my company's notice period is 3 months.

Please tell me how I should go about tendering my resignation for less than my notice period. And how will they (if they do) penalize me for it?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
