Kissing device

Lovesick couples living oceans apart may soon get to share a kiss more realistic than the flying kisses they give each other during video chats.

Japan's Kajimoto Laboratory at the University of Electro-Communications is doing research on a device which can effectively transmit the feeling of a kiss.

“If you take one device in your mouth and turn it with your tongue, the other device turns in the same way. If you turn it back the other way, then your partner’s turns back the same way, so your partner’s device turns whichever way your own device turns," an article on the Cool Gadgets website quoted the inventors as saying.

According to the inventors, the device works by motor rotations, and one controls the rotation positions via a personal computer.

Through bilateral control, the turn angle information is sent reciprocally by both devices to maintain the same position.

"Right now the values are handled by one PC, but if a system is put together to handle the values over a network, then it would be easy for this operation to be conducted remotely," the inventors said.

Another website, Diginfo.TV, said that the position values can also be recorded, and the kiss information for different individuals can be freely replayed.

"For example, if you have a popular entertainer use this device and record it, that could be hugely popular if you offer it to fans," it quoted the inventors as saying.

"The elements of a kiss include the sense of taste, the manner of breathing, and the moistness of the tongue. If we can recreate all of those I think it will be a really powerful device," it added.

According to its web page, Kajimoto Laboratory is focused on human interface research, "mainly on tactile sensation." — TJD, GMA News

sauce

China makes fake rice from plastic: report

China allegedly makes fake rice, reported The Korea Times, a reputable English-language newspaper in Korea on January 20, 2011.

REUTERS
A worker displays a handful of rice at a market in Hefei, Anhui province November 27, 2009. China, the world's largest rice producer and consumer, has approved a locally-developed strain of genetically-modified rice, paving the way for large-scale production in 2 to 3 years, Chinese scientists said on Friday.

The original source is a report obtained by "Singapore media," said The Korea Times.

Allegedly, some Chinese companies produce fake rice by mixing in plastic. This fake rice is then "massively sold" on the Chinese market.

Fake rice sold in Taiyuan, Shaanxi is made from a mixture of potatoes, sweet potatoes, and plastic, according to the report.

The Korea Times said while officials warn that eating fake rice is obviously dangerous to human health, merchants still sell it in "mass quantity" because it's highly profitable.

China has a history of making fake food items.

The Global Times reported in July 2010 that a company in Xi'an, Shaanxi makes a fake version of the expensive "Wuchang rice" by adding flavoring to ordinary rice.

The most infamous example of China's food abuses is the 2008 milk scandal, in which companies adulterated infant formula with melamine and caused the death of at least 6 infants.

sos

Wow..these people will do anything to reduce production cost and maxx the profit even it can be a health hazard to the public

Six Kelantan men die of breast cancer

KOTA BARU: Three cases of breast cancer involving men were reported at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian, here last year with one patient succumbing to the disease.

Coordinator of HUSM's breast cancer information centre, Dr Nik Munirah Nik Mahdi, said according to the last national cancer registry in 2006, six men in Kelantan had died of breast cancer.

"Breast cancer is seen more as a disease that affects women but it is not necessarily so. That is why it is important for people from both sexes to be well informed about it," she said after the launch of the information centre's blog and a workshop on women's health yesterday by the chairman of USM board of directors, Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr M. Zawawi Ismail.

Also present were HUSM director Datuk Dr Zaidun Kamari and Avon Cosmetics Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia president Mansoor Abdullah.

The information centre was launched in February with a contribution of US$100,000 (S$129,660) from Avon International.

Dr Nik Munirah said the centre was set up to increase awareness about breast cancer and to provide support to patients and their families.

"This lack of exposure and support has caused many patients to avoid going to hospital for medication and treatment.

"More than 70 per cent of patients come to us in the final stage, when they have run out of alternative treatment. But by then, there is nothing much that can be done."

Dr Nik Munirah said several of the centre's staff were breast cancer survivors and they would be able to give support and advice to patients on various issues affecting them.

She said the centre was also working with various parties to organise exhibitions all over the state. The information centre also has a mini library, computers for patients to use and a treatment room.

sos tiram

What makes Kelantan men infected with breast cancer while not with men from other states? ..because of diet? culture? or what?

World's Biggest Pen!ses

Have you ever wondered which country is home to the largest penises? In a quest to find the answer, we’ve taken data from forty of Manhunt‘s top markets, and the results are extremely revealing! Denmark leads the pack with an average size of 7.59 inches. This is particularly amusing, given they’re the nation with the largest percentage of bottoms.

Malaysia ranks at the bottom of the list with 6.08 inches. Though this may imply Malaysian men aren’t packing much below the waist, it probably just means they’re the most honest of the bunch. But that’s just our opinion! What conclusions do you draw from all of these numbers?

- Dewitt

For the full list of countries included, follow the JUMP:

1. Denmark – 7.59
2. Italy – 7.44
3. Sweden – 7.44
4. Australia – 7.41
5. Netherlands – 7.41
6. Belgium – 7.39
7.
