DVI to HDMI Video Output

ok i just bought PS3 and i want to connect to DVI-D monitor i know it should work because i'm using it with my Xbox.
the problem is, my ps3 cant do the same, after hold down the power button and the 2nd beeps the initial setup appear but then the system ask me to choose hdmi or not and i choose no but the screen just goes black

please need helps
