how to connect multiple pc to the internet ?

as topic..
i got 1 adsl modem.. (the blue modem that streamyx gave me)
1 d-link switch (model : des-1005D )
3 lan cable..
1 desktop (win xp)..
1 laptop (win xp)..

i just wanted this 2 pc can connect to the internet at the same time..

any1 can help ? newbie here..

edited : i think i connected them correctly.. maybe just don't know how to make those setting and stuff

network problem for inspiron 1545

hello all !
i am currently having a connection problem with my dell inspiron 1545 laptop preinstall with window vista home basic sp1.
my laptop specs are :-
1) processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T6400 @2.00Ghz
2) ram: 2.00 GB
3) system type: 32-bit Operation System
4) network adapters: a )Dell wireless 1510 Wireless
b) Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller

Ok, heres comes the situation, i live in a house that consist of 6 people including me, we shared a same internet connection line. As i stated above, my laptop keep on disconnect from the internet but my 5 other friends did not disconnect from internet, my 5 other friends are using window xp though. After the disconnect, the connection will automaticaly reconnect again, but it will disconnect again after a few minute. I have tried both wired and wireless connection in the house, both of them will disconnect form internet. I have done my factory default recovery but the problem is still there. i have also called DELL, all they can said is my house got too many user, once i heard that, i tried to use the connection alone, the problem is still there. The only thing i haven't try is to downgrade my laptop to window xp.
Any suggestion or recommendation are fully apreciate and sorry for my lousy grammar.
