Hi Guys and Girls,

I am not from Malaysia, I am from India. Not to mention, I love Malaysia, I love the people here, but I just wanto to clear some misconceptions that I have seen around here about India:

Unfortunately, Malaysia doesnt see many INDIAN INDIANS, or maybe a few that do come, they are from Tamil Nadu, so look similar to Malaysian Indians.

i. If I am an Indian, how come I dont know Tamil..
--> India's national language is HINDI...
We have no idea about Tamil, we dont watch Tamil movies, they dont even release in India (EXCEPT a state Called TAMIL NADU).

ii. Most of all would be surprised to know this, but a major part of India is actually Vegetarian.
All the 'Mamak' that you see here is actually inspired by the major local Indian food.
Chapati is actually the staple food of most of India and Naan is more of an occasional treat (originated from India).
How do we get protein ?
No we dont have taufu there, no one knows what that is. Our cuisine has such vegetables that probably doesnt even have an English name for me to describe to you guys.. LOL..

A good example of what Indian dinner would look like:

Feel free to clear any misconceptions about India, my answer will be honestly NON-Biased..

1. Well, about the hygeine:
Hmmm.. yes people pee on streets, not a rare sight!! The govt. doesnt have time to build public toilets, people dont have time to wait!! Lolzz...

Hygeine regarding food:
Well, there probably would be 15+ stalls in a small street selling food... Not all of them are good, not all of them are bad..
In general though, Indian food is VERY VERY spicy, so its not surprising for a non-Indian to get stomachache even with a hygenic food!
But food-wise, Indian food is one of the most delicious you would ever taste!! (Please dont try the north indian food in Brickfields.. its terrible!!)

2. The gangster thingy.. honestly NEVER seen in my life.. Unless you are a girl and the time is over 12:00 at night, I am pretty sure you would be ok..
In my over 17 years of experience in India never seen any!!

3. The muslim and hindu fight has been going on forever!! However is does not exist on ground level (Except if he/she is a Pakistani), it just exists in Political level.
Having Muslim friends is perfectly normal, however marriage is pretty troublesome..
Recently, however, Shahrukh Khan (Bollywood celebrity) married a Hindu girl (who did not convert) and Hrithik Roshan (Hindu Bollywood celebrity) married a Muslim girl (NO conversion also).
And yeah, there is no Govt. Interference in such matters!

4. About cows, how could I forget that!!
Cows are considered as mothers, NOT GODS!!
just like when we are babies, our mother gives us milk, when we are adults, cow gives us milk.
Milk has special meaning in Hindu mythology, thus the importance of cows.

Cows on street - Not that common though!! unless you are driving around some villages or extremely small lanes where there are cow sheds..
But even if something like that occurs, u dont just sit and wait, u can just ask the owner to move her out of the way..!!

Its a myth that is exploited by west, so you can still see it on TV, cause thats what Western people find fascinating!!

Yes, as said before cow is considered as mother so we dont kill or eat mother.. Growing old and dying is a part of nature which is true for all kind of animals.. So yeah they grow old and die after feeding us with milk..

A car crashing into a cow would be extremely reckless as cow is not a small animal, they are pretty huge. Unless you are blind, I am sure the driver will get into a HUGE trouble..!! Both by activists and police!!

Since 15% of India is muslim, getting beef is tough but obviously not impossible. However, in big restaurants and stuff you wont find any.

Actually this generation people dont really know the different castes. However when i want to marry a girl, my parents have to approve and I think thats where the cast systems come back.!
