Dam woke up to see mushroom cloud of smoke and went to see the british built shophouses of my town, one of the few surviving in Sabah terbakar, about 4-5 floor high flames. Typing this while the sounds of gas tank exploding over there O_O

West Malaysia eletricity generation CO2 & EV

Just saw this report by Malaysia Energy Commission about Malaysia's electric generation carbon intensity:

Basically it meant to generate 1kWh of electricity, it produces 758g or CO2 in west malaysia.

To put in 1kWh into cars, it incurs like 6% transmission losses and another 6% AC to DC conversion loss to put in your EV battery, so 1kWh equivalent in battery = 758g divided by 0.94 and divided by 0.94 again, resulting 858g CO2/kWh.

Typical EV can go 5km/kWh to 7km/kWh, then it means 122 to 172g CO2/km

Toyota Prius can easily get around 100g CO2/km and normal vios is 150g CO2/km

So that begs the question does using EV and TNB electricity in West Malaysia really reduces carbon emission when the CO2 emission from TNB electricity generation is so high?

Look at Sabah & Sarawak's numbers, it is way lower at 425gCO2/kWh (Sabah) and 198gCO2/kWh (Sarawak)

only way EV can reduce carbon emission in West Malaysia is if you have own solar electricity generation system to charge and not using TNB.

Other than Michelin, Bridgestone, BFGoodrich. Which other brand/model for H/T tyres is good?

Currently using michelin primacy suv but sabah tyre price is kinda crazy now (shops in west malaysia doesn't seem want to do postage to sabah too) and those michelins are probably close to rm1k per pc here. I'm interested in continentals (i love the CC6 on my other cars) but haven't seen it in the shops here yet. Just plan to get something cheaper than michelins but still runs well, I'm lightfooted and doesn't drive aggressively, mostly around 80/90km/h max, majority on highways.

had a feeling my corsair hs70 won't last that much longer anymore. Don't mind wired or wireless, but most important thing is able to listen to enemies position accurately in FPS games.

I read about some audiophile company made gaming headset that's great for music but bad for listening to enemy positions, I had the same experience with my beyerdynamic; hard to discern in games while the HS70 not that great for music but works great at games.

I remembered there was a shop in Kota Kinabalu that sells Genuine Toyota Parts for 4WDs, like Hiluxes and Land Cruisers all the way to the old models. The shop iinm only sell parts for 4WD. The MCO made me forgot where the shop is now, any users here know where it is? I wanted to get original timing belt kit for my 87 land cruiser, thanks.

Last time bought 1 whole set of original rubber bush for the rear suspension from there too, really forgotten where it is.

Dear lowyat users, are there any recommended battery powered brush cutter / grass trimmer for heavy duty use. I researched some on the net, saw husqvarna are pretty expensive in malaysia, unable to find EGO brand in malaysia, stihl fsa 56 or 85 had user complained about the problematic line feeder.

Now currently consider the makita dur364 or 368. Do anyone here used this and have any problems with it? especially water resistance or line feeding system.

Or are there other good brands/models to consider, best if can fit blades to cut hardened small branches too. Also hope that it can run 0.095" lines or 2.4mm.

Anybody knows where to buy this 18l water at Kota Kinabalu-Papar area? In Labuan I always went to buy direct at the water bottling factory (One 18l bottle for rm5, after paying deposit for the bottle), I don't know if there are any water bottling factory in Kota Kinabalu are selling it.
I saw some water filter shops refilling the water themselves but I had been to Labuan's water bottling factory and I don't want to buy those refilled by the small shops, thank you.
