Which car to buy? Budget around RM120K

Hi,

I am looking for a car around RM120K. Currently in my list is new Pegeuot 408 1.6T vs Altis 1.8 vs Used (2011) CRV vs Used (2010) Camry 2.0G.

All is within the range of RM120K.

Which one has the best fuel consumption?
Which one is most reliable, in terms of problem and breakdown?
Which one is lower maintenance?

Which car should I choose?

Memory card for 60D - Kingston SDHC Class 10

Hi,

I am planning to purchase the 60D and plan to buy extra SD card.

I am planing to buy 16GB Kingston SD10-HC 100X Class 10 (10Mb/s) from PC Depot, is it good for photo shoot and video shoot?

Do you all have any problem with this card?

The camera shop owner told me that the SD card their selling is for DSLR and different from those selling from computer shop?

My friend has a 50D and he has experienced before that CF card below 40Mb/s can not shoot continuously burst shot.

Please advise.

Is there any difference of Brake lock brand?

Guys,

I m planning to install a brake lock. I came across 2 different brand from 2 different accessories shops.
One offered Locktech at a price of RM380 and the other offered Locktac at a price of RM280. I have checked both locks and found everything is similar.

According to to the shop selling Locktac, all brake lock comes from the same manufacturer in Thailand and he is a whole seller that is why he can offer cheaper price.

Could you all please advise any different between Locktech and Locktac? Which is better? I don't believe in the prinsip that Higher price is better in Quality.

Please comment and advise. Thank you.

Problem with Cats

Hi Guys,

Dunno whether you guys have an experience with cat sleeping on top of parked car.

I found my car top with light scratches, foot prints and hair. This happen mostly over the night. Worst is if you surprise and try to halau them and they make a big scratches while speeding off.

Do you all have any suggestion to make them go away? Any devices in the market?

I am planning to purchase Nissan Grand Livina. I am having a hard time of choosing between Auto 1.6cc and 1.8cc. Price different is about RM8500.

Is it worth to pay more RM8500 for 1.8cc?

Which one is better in term of fuel consumption?

What is the best discount offer at the moment?

Any free gifts?

Is there any major problem with Grand Livina?

NAZA KIA Rondo

Hi Guys,

I went to NAZA to view the Forte but found Rondo to be a good MPV (which really can sits 7 adults).

I would like to ask the Sifu here for advice and comment;

1) Rondo was launched last year and its almost 1 year already. How reliable is Rondo?
2) How is the Fuel consumption?
3) How is the power?
4) How is the Noise Vabrition Harhness (NVH) ?
5) How is NAZA service?
6) Any major problem?
7) IS there any special discount offer currently?

I have checked the Thailand Toyota but seems to be no facelift yet. Usually it will appear 1st in Thailand

Imported n CBU car with heating system

Imported or CBU car comes with heating system for the cabin as their country has four seasons or different wheather. I would like to purchase an imported car but have doubt about the compressor and fuel consumption.

Questions:
1) Please explain how the heating system works?
2) I heard some say that the compressor always run all time for these type of cars. Is this true?
3) If compressor runs all time, will it shorten the life span of it and also consume more fuel?

New Citra........ worth to buy?

Hi All,

New Citra selling aron RM60K, very attractive price. Nowadays, I have seen alot of it on the road and alot of happy buyers.

Is it worth buying? Comparing to others MPV like Livina 1.8cc, its a saving of RM30K.

Taking into account maybe higher fuel consumption on Citra, but its still worth it as I believe the additional $$ fork out for FC during 5 to 6 years, maybe is less than RM15K. Minus from the saving of RM30K, its still a saving of RM15K. This does not include cheaper insurance cost and less interest pay out, another saving. So, it may be a saving of more than RM15K.

Question now is whether Citra is reliable? How is the service by the service center? Comfort is more or less the same.

Citra will loose out on resell value but that will not be much base on depreciation of percentage. After 5 years, with yearly 8% depreciation, Livina of RM95K will worth aron RM60K, depreciating of RM35K. For Citra, 12% depreciation, RM60K will worth aron RM24K, depreciating of RM36K.

So, Sifu what do you guys think? Worth buying?

Grand Livina 1.6cc vs 1.8cc?

Hi Guys,

Just got to know that the Grand Livina 1.6cc is not CVTC engine. Only the 1.8cc is a CVTC engine. Is this true?

Nissan website stated :

1.6 Litre, DOHC, 16-Valve, 4-Cylinder in-line with Drive-by-Wire Technology

1.8 Litre, DOHC, 16-Valve, 4-Cylinder in-line with CVTC (Continuously Variable-valve Timing Control) & Drive-by-Wire Technology

The saleman told me this is true and does not affect the performance. It is just like Honda City, IDSI and VTEC technology.

Hi Guys & Gals,

I am interested in Nissan Grand livina 1.6cc. My friend is a Nissan dealer and he has some showroom car to sell off at a discounted price.

He is offering one to me. Either a Livina or Latio. Still waiting for Nissan HQ to sent confirmation and stock.

I have some questions (Nissan owners and ppl who has driven these 2 cars before, pls help):

1) How is the fuel consumption of these 2 cars? RM/km and litre/km

2) Any problem with the car? Noise NVH, handling, performance and etc?

3) How is the service center? Comparing to Toyota and Honda?

4) How is the maintenance cost? How much is each Service at SC?

Any tint shop to recommend for my wife's 4 years old Kanchil?

I am looking for the affordable film, budget around RM180 - RM250. I have contacted some of the offer posted here but they don't have any shop in Ipoh, all is in KL.

Budgeted tint film (with warranty 5yrs) will do as the Kanchil is also old already.

2nd Hand Sentra 1.6CC 2006. RM58K worth buying?

Hi Everyone,

My friend's husband wants to sell of his Nissan Sentra 2006 1.6CC. One owner. Mileage 103,000km. On time service. Major accident free. Owner wants to sell and change to Toyota Estima.

I have not got a chance to look at it yet. I have checked Carlist price, for this Sentra is aron RM60k - RM63k.

Is it worth it?

As I am driving a Vios 2003, I have no idea about Nissan Sentra. Please help to anwser.

Is there any problem with this model? Any critical ones?
Spare parts price and availbility?
Fuel consumption?
Anything else I should know?

Budget of RM50K. Need new car. Persona or MYVI?

Hi Guys & Gals

I really need your comment, opinion and advice. I have a budget of RM50K and plans to buy a new car for my wife. She is a bank manager where she needs to travel abit. What car can I get? Guess is either Persona and MyVI. Which is overall better?

Persona vs MyVI :

1) Engine : MyVI wins coz DVVT
2) Power : Persona wins
3) Fuel Consumption : MyVI wins
4) Built finishing quality : ????
5) Stability & handling : Persona wins
6) Trunk storage size : Persona wins
7) Resell value : ????
8) Maintenance cost : ????

From the forum here I found out and summarized both car main problems.

Persona
1) IAFM is not stable & maybe problematic.

MyVI
1) Poor alarm system. Lots of MyVI stolen.
2) When fill full tank, petrol smell in cabin.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Please do add in comments, advice, opinion and your experience with both car.

Which car to choose or should I look for a Japanese 2nd hand car?

Kia Spectra 5 at RM56K. CVVT. Is it worth buying?

Sorry I have posted this in "Kopitiam". Should b much better to post it here, lots of SIFU and car experts.

Last week, went to showroom to view Rondo but was distracted by Spectra 5. Now offering good discount for Spectra 5 with lots of specs included. No test drive but manage to start the car. NVH is very good, not much of engine noise even I slam the fuel to RPM 2500 in Neutral. Too bad can not test on the road. Comparing the price with Persona, Spectra 5 has lots more goodies and better specs.

At the price of RM55K, its really a bargain comparing to Proton Persona and MyVI SE.

Some questions and pointers which is holding me back from buying it on that day, as below listed,
1) The low re sale value over the next few years. Whether KIA can make any changes and convince buyers.
2) Spare parts availbility and price.
3) Not much review has been done on this car so no sufficient info to convince buyers.
4) From some of the forummers, I got to know that the tyre supplied was year 2007. Suspect the car was manufactured in year 2007. Was brought over here and kept until now only out for sale. So, its not a CKD but its more of CBU. But don't know how KIA managed to register it as new car. Some forummers who owns this car did mentioned that the engine chasis number was erased off, was given tyres of year 2007 and some has less items provided in the car. Different batch different specs. Anyhow, its a matter of year manufactured and its still consider new as the car never register or driven on the road.
5) How reliable is the shiftronic gear.
6) Nowadays Rondo, Optima and Spectra 5 comes with CVVT engine which should be good with Fuel Consumption and performance, but nothing has been say much about it. Should be the same function like VVT, VTEC and DVVT. So any S5 owners can advice on this.
7) 16" sport rims which is abit too much for 1.6cc. Its heavy by 6kg each wheel thus putting weight to the car. The heavier the car, the more fuel required. Prefered rims 14" or 15".

If KIA is serious to make a come back this time, they should offer the market with good reliable car at a discount price and capture the market. Let car expert to review the car as much as they can. Provide test drive car. Disclose the spare parts price and availbility. Disclose servicing price.

I always support under dog. I don't mind buying the not "so well know car" if they can provide reliablelity and affodable price. This will encourage another competator to the car market. When there is competition, price will fall to the reasonable level. Not like current price for Toyota, Honda and Nissan which is quite high priced. I would like to see KIA, VW, Mazda and etc to make a big come back to the market.

So, its up to us as a consumer to make a change. Can't count on the government as they are always in the interest of Proton and Perodua. The government has been always saying abolishing NAP but till now not hing has beendone and already kept quiet. We, consumer suffer most. Please support others not branded car if they are really good and serious of a come back.

Question is whether KIA is really making a come back and wants to make a long term reliable brand in M'sia automobile? Especially bring in Optima, Rondo and Spectra 5, all on new engine CVVT and slashing its price down.

I haven't book the S5 yet, hoping some S5 owners or car experts could tell me the pro's and con's of this car.
