Proton Wira Aeroback Auto : Trans/GB Problem

Hi
My friend loaned me a old Proton Wira Aeroback Auto model circa 2000 to be used for my daughter who just got her license. There is a problem (problems?) that I want to fix before giving it to her. The gears seems taking too long to shift (revs very high) and on slopes, it seems to lose power significantly. The first workshop I went to says to change to a new recond Gearbox for approx RM2K, which I think is on the high side (assuming that is the problem).

A few questions :
1. What could be the problem? Gearbox? Torque converter? - can they be replaced separately or they come together (recond unit)?
2. Pretty sure ATF oil has been changed in the last year or so. Should I try changing it only, or do it as part of GB replacement?
3. I dont want to spend too much given the car is old. What other options are there, if any?
4. Any recommendations for GB/trans specialist workshop you can recommend in PJ area?

Thank you.

NetM

[WTA] Telekom Landline : Call Blocking

Hi, I want to block certain numbers (esp mobile numbers) from being called from my home landline (Telekom Malaysia). How can I do that? Is there a facility I can subscribe to?

Tried calling 100 but was no help at all; told to call back during office hours.

NetMaestro
