Unable to format a HDD to a specific FS

I have a hard disk Maxtor DiamondMax 6L080M0 80GB Sata 3.5" hard drive. And I'm been trying to format it to Ext2/Ext3 file format but it always get stuck at 0% regardless I use GParted or my NAS (DLink dns 320) or EASEUS Partition Master. I have no problems formatting it to Fat32, NTFS, UFS, ZFS. Any idea why it refuses to be formatted to Ext 2/3?

I tried running SeaTools to check the health of the hard disk and it gave me a clean bill of health. All SMART tests revealed a healthy drive as well.

Help!

HP Laserjet 1212NF

I'm looking for a MFC Laser Printer (B&W) which can Print, Copy, Fax, Scan with Ethernet capability (Wired or wireless doesn't matter) for home use.

1 of the few printers I found is the HP Laserjet 1212NF. HP just emailed me an official quotation for the price of RM900 for it. Is it worth it? Do you think I can get it cheaper outside (So far official retailers in Penang, are qouting me a price of RM930-RM970, which is more expensive than getting from HP directly). Are there any other alternatives for a printer with this feature? Duplexing is not a must, I don't mind doing manual duplex as well as the lack of a paper tray doesn't concern me.

p/s: sorry, should have posted this in the Q&A subforum. My mistake.

I'm using XBMC to play back MKV files with embedded subs (and also external ass & srt files) and they seem to appear all over the screen (Top, left, right, bottom of screen). They seem to be squeezed and flattened as well, making them unreadable. Any idea whats going on? I have already reformatted my XP machine but still same problem.

OS: Windows XP Pro 32 bit
XBMC version : 10.0
Shark codec installed. Tried k-lite but same problem.

Tried the video file in MPC and VLC, no problem.

I face no problem in using XBMC with my win7 notebook though. It plays beautifully on it.

And XBMC always freezes when I try to search at network drives (SMB).

Any ideas?

Streamyx Application Status : Others

Hi, I applied for BB deal last month, and my tm homeline was installed the next working day (which was actually christmas, but the contractor was hardworking enough to come the next morning, so kudos to him!) .

However, as of today, my streamyx has not been installed yet. I went to the TM Point branch which I applied to, and asked. They mentioned that it shouldn't be a problem as there should be a lot of free streamyx ports, and if ports are full my status would be listed as "Port full" and not others. I gave them 1 more working day to check as I went there on a Saturday afternoon and they were closing shop anyway. She confirmed that ports are still available after calling the streamyx technician.

On the next day, the team leader for that tm point gave me the bad news. She mentioned that one of the Streamyx port cabinets is not operational (thus all the ports in the cabinet is not working), and the project team for my area told her that the cabinet will only be ready after 6 months. I find this very shocking as I never heard of this before. She adviced me to make a formal complaint to help@tm.com.my as she say she can't complain on my behalf.

I did that in the next few hours. Is there anything else I can do so that they would "repair" this cabinet asap? I still have doubts that this as shouldn't TM be fixing the cabinet asap as it is considered as "downtime"? If the cabinet is faulty, shouldn't the streamyx technician know? I have been calling 100 everyday to make reports about this as well, but so far no news .

Closing the thread.
Single side deadbolt hole problem

I was planning to buy and install a dead bolt in my door. However the first bolt I bought require about a 2-inch hole in diameter (the turn knob actually latches on the bolt mechanism itself). After installing, I found out that the bolt is not functioning properly (shaking left and right) and finally it snapped after a few times opening and closing (the broken mechanism was the plastic portion holding both the nuts). I boycott this brand after that and demanded a refund from the shop. I tried shopping for another bolt, but apparently all the other bolts diameter are 1 3/4 inches instead (plate is still 2 inches, but the requires screws on the outer part of the circle, which I can't use as the screws will be hanging in mid-air).

Are there any single side deadbolt which I can purchase for my 2 inch hole? If yes, please do advice as my current door has a hole and its really not pleasant to look at . My location is penang. Btw, this is urgent, hope anyone with any ideas dont hesitate to reply.

And my advice to others: Never ever buy any locks which has plastic parts inside, even if it comes under recommendation of the shop selling to you.

The problem is the graphic/text is quite "pale" so I'll want to increase its contrast before printing so that it'll be easier to read. Unfortunately my HP laserjet printer contrast settings cannot be changed. If I print normally, it looks like printed in "save-toner" mode.

Using a graphics editor to alter the contrast is out of the question due to the number of pages. Majority of the pages are in "graphics/picture" form because I tried to use the text tool to highlight it but its unable to select it.

Hope shifu shifu sekalian here can help or provide alternative.

Can ground plan be changed after submission.

I'm wondering if this is possible/legal/correct or not...

Situation:
Developer has submitted a ground plan to authorities on building a project (let's say, apartment project). Halfway through, the developer want to add in more carparks for residents by reducing some of the pavement/trees/grass. Can the developer build these new carpark lots immediately on these spaces without re-submitting the plan to the authorities, or have to wait until OC is obtained and then "remove" the pavement/trees/grass to build the carpark lots?

This came across my mind and I asked my friends and I got pretty vague answers.

Visual Studio 2005 Memory leak still unsolved?

I was developing my application on c#, and i realised suddenly my vs2005was really running slowly. I checked the task manager and i got a shock when i saw that its consuming 750MB of my ram (without deploying project). I heard that vs 2005 had a memory leak problem which was supposed to be fixed in SP1 but its still happening to me. I restarted the IDE, and i left it alone without opening and it starts consuming more and more memory over time.

anyone experiencing this or has a hotfix for it??

this is really SOS! so far my google results only have solutions for those who are developing on VB, cuz they found out that the problem was the VB compiler. nothing on C# yet.
