Bedrock Edition (also known as the Bedrock Version, Bedrock Codebase, Bedrock Engine or just Bedrock) refers to the multi-platform family of editions of Minecraft developed by Mojang AB, Microsoft Studios, 4J Studios, and SkyBox Labs. Prior to this term, as the engine originated with Pocket Edition, this entire product family was referred to as "Pocket Edition", "MCPE", or "Pocket/Windows 10 Edition".

The objective of the game remains the same as its Java Edition and Legacy Console Edition counterparts, where players can build virtual realities in a sandbox-like environment. Like its counterparts, Bedrock Edition also has survival elements present in other versions of the game such as brewing, hunger, and dimensions like the Nether and the End. The multiplayer mode is cross-platform compatible between all touch-screen and console devices capable of running Bedrock Edition.

So, anyone here play this game? I just got back to this game earlier this year after a 5 year hiatus. A lot of stuff has changed. I play both on the Win10 Edition and Android. The crossplay feature is definitely interesting to me because I play on PC whenever I'm home and on my phone when I'm outside.

Venezuela crisis: Helicopter launches attack on Supreme Court

Venezuela's Supreme Court has been attacked by grenades dropped from a helicopter in what President Nicolás Maduro called a "terrorist attack".
Footage on social media shows a police helicopter circling over the city before shots and a loud bang are heard.
The police officer said to have piloted the stolen aircraft issued a statement denouncing the "criminal government". His whereabouts are unknown.
It comes after mass protests against the political and economic crisis.
The Supreme Court is regularly criticised by the Venezuelan opposition for its rulings which bolster Mr Maduro's hold on power.

What happened?
In an address from the presidential palace, President Maduro said the helicopter had flown over the Supreme Court and also the justice and interior ministries.
Officials quoted by Reuters news agency said four grenades were dropped on the court and 15 shots had been fired at the interior ministry.

No injuries were reported but Mr Maduro said "a social event" had been taking place at the Supreme Court and the attack could have caused "dozens of deaths". One of the grenades failed to detonate, he added.

Mr Maduro has placed the military on alert.
"I have activated the entire armed forces to defend the peace," he said. "Sooner or later, we are going to capture that helicopter and those who carried out this terror attack."

The police officer identified himself as Oscar Pérez in video statements posted on the social media platform Instagram.
Appearing in military fatigues and flanked by armed, masked men in uniform, he appealed to Venezuelans to oppose "tyranny".

"We are a coalition of military employees, policemen and civilians who are looking for balance and are against this criminal government," he said.
"We don't belong to any political tendency or party. We are nationalists, patriots and institutionalists."
He said the "fight" was not against the security forces but "against the impunity of this government. It is against tyranny".
It is not clear how much support, if any, the officer has.
Mr Maduro said the pilot had worked for former Interior and Justice Minister Miguel Rodriguez Torres, but was no longer with him.

It is generally an exercise in futility trying to predict if some new twist in Venezuela's long-running crisis is a "turning point" for the country.
There have been scores of seemingly decisive moments over the past few months - from the initial decision to strong-arm the national assembly, to the latest death of a teenage protester in Caracas - that quickly faded into the general malaise afflicting the oil-rich nation.
However, the sight of an apparently disaffected member of the security forces dropping grenades on the Supreme Court and allegedly firing on government buildings is extreme, even by Venezuela's standards.
Whether "Oscar Pérez" is indeed part of a coalition of like-minded "military employees, policemen and civilians" or just a rogue policeman is hard to say.
Certainly President Maduro was quick to dub the incident "a terrorist attack" and used it as a reason to "activate" the armed forces to keep the peace.
However, earlier in the day he, too, had thrown down the gauntlet to his opponents. "If the Bolivarian Revolution was at risk," he said, "what we couldn't do with votes, we would do with arms." The opposition in Venezuela took that as an overt threat.
This helicopter incident may also pass quickly, or it may be more serious. Certainly though, the security situation in Venezuela could hardly be worse ahead of a highly controversial election next month over the government's plan to create a new constituent assembly.

There have been almost daily anti-government protests in Venezuela for over two months as the country's economic and political crisis worsens.

Those opposed to the government say they are determined to keep protests going until fresh elections are called and the government is ousted.
More than 70 people have been killed in protest-related violence since 1 April, according to the chief prosecutor's office.

Although President Maduro called the incident an attack by "terrorists" seeking a coup it is not clear how much support, if any, the police officer has.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mr Maduro reiterated his allegations that the US was supporting coup attempts against his government and warned President Donald Trump that Venezuela would resist such a move.
On Monday, he announced that five people had been arrested, accused of plotting against him and preparing for a US invasion.

However, Venezuela certainly has a history of coup attempts:
In 1992, the late Hugo Chávez tried to overthrow the government of President Carlos Andres Pérez. The attempt failed and Chávez was arrested and imprisoned. He would eventually be elected president in 1998
In 2002, Chávez himself survived an attempted coup by rebel military officers
Months later, security officials foiled another attempt by leading political and military opposition figures

A 13-year-old Russian-German girl has admitted making up a story about being kidnapped and raped by migrants in a case that triggered a furore in Germany and briefly embroiled Berlin police in a spat with the Kremlin, state prosecutors said.

The parents of the teenager, named only as Lisa, reported her missing on 11 January after she failed to appear at school in the Marzahn district of the capital. She reappeared 30 hours later with injuries on her face, and told her parents she had been attacked by men of Middle Eastern or north African appearance. News of the incident spread on social media, sparking outrage among Berlin’s Russian-German community.

But when she was questioned by trained specialists three days later “she immediately admitted that the story of the rape was not true”, said the spokesman for the state prosecutor, Martin Steltner.

He said the teenager had been scared of going home after the school had contacted her parents over an incident at school.

Yet the allegations caused uproar in Berlin, particularly after reports of mass sexual assaults allegedly carried out by migrants in Cologne. A Russian-German community group staged a protest, supported by the Pegida-related Bärgida movement. The far-right National Democratic party also demonstrated in Marzahn.

The mood was exacerbated by a report on Russian state TV, in which the girl’s relatives claimed her allegations were not being investigated.

The Russian foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, also weighed in to criticise the Berlin authorities. “The news that she disappeared was kept secret for a very long time,” he told a press conference, blaming “political correctness”.

Analysis of the teenager’s mobile phone records showed she had spent the night with a friend, who is not being treated as a suspect.

Her mother told Der Spiegel magazine on Sunday that Lisa was “doing very badly” and was having treatment in a psychiatric ward.

There’s less than a month to go until Christmas Eve, the most romantic night of the year in Japan. As the special night approaches, lovelorn single men throughout the country are scrambling to up their game in order to attract a date before Santa starts his rounds.

As a handy starter guide, Japanese women in a recent poll listed the top five hobbies that are immediate deal breakers when judging if a guy is boyfriend material.

The poll was conducted by a Japanese fashion magazine, with 259 women responding. Let’s take a look and see where we’re going right, or perhaps very, very wrong.

5. Dessert/café nut (8 votes)

Japan is in the midst of a dessert boom, with everything from Hawaiian-style pancakes topped with mountains of fruit and whipped cream to cherry blossom-infused muffins and cakes ready to satisfy your sweet tooth. The country is dotted with independent cafes, and even among chains, many of their tempting menu items are only available for limited times.

But while making a pilgrimage to whichever bakery has the newest, tastiest roll cake is a common enough pastime for young women in Japan, some of them don’t seem to appreciate a guy who shares their appreciation for the sweeter things in life, and would apparently prefer a man with a more traditionally masculine palate, so if you’re looking to impress, say no to cake, guys.

In almost all cultures, there’s a period growing up where young boys get really into trains, perhaps because they speak to their aspirations for strength and power. In Japan though, some men hold on to their passion for trains. They crowd the platforms to catch a glimpse whenever a new type of car is being debuted or retired. They travel the country to snap photos of obscure local service trains in rural areas.

They make some girls not want to date them because of their off-beat hobby.

t may seem like faint praise, but it’s a sign of the times that hardcore animation fan is only number three on a list of hobbies women can’t stand in a boyfriend.

For starters, high-brow animation houses such as Studio Ghibli have been cranking out anime with mainstream appeal, such as the #1 movie in Japan this year, The Wind Rises, that prove anime isn’t merely the niche hobby it once was.

Secondly, each year sees the ranks of female anime otaku grow larger and larger, with the industry producing more and more content for them. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, and it’s hard to criticize a guy for liking the latest Gundam series when you’ve got posters from ab-centric swimming anime Free! on your bedroom walls.

2. Idol otaku (45 votes)

Obsessing over idol singers used to be a part-time gig. A new starlet would appear on the scene, there’d be intense interest in her for a couple of months, and then things would die down after either photos of her with a boyfriend (scandalous!) surfaced, or her costume designers ran out of places to add ribbons to her stage outfit, thus forcing her retirement at the ripe old age of 22 or so.

Nowadays though, when ensemble idol units such as AKB 48 have a rotating roster of performers bigger than most privately owned businesses, the idol world never stands still. With so many up and coming singers who need to be nurtured with their fans’ attention (and their money in the form of album sales), some women looking for a boyfriend deduce there’s not going to be much left over for their own relationship.

The run-away winner (loser?) of the poll as to which hobby would kill a guy’s chance with the respondents was gambling. For a country that doesn’t have any officially designated casinos, Japan is filled with places to place a wager, whether it be at one of its ubiquitous pachinko parlors, mahjong dens, horse tracks, speedboat racing facilities, or even bicycle racing tracks. And the ladies really don’t care for it.

First iPhone worm discovered

First iPhone worm discovered - ikee changes wallpaper to Rick Astley photo

Apple iPhone owners in Australia have reported that their smartphones have been infected by a worm that has changed their wallpaper to an image of 1980s pop crooner Rick Astley.

The worm, which could have spread to other countries although we have no confirmed reports outside Australia, is capable of breaking into jailbroken iPhones if their owners have not changed the default password after installing SSH. Once in place, the worm appears to attempt to find other iPhones on the mobile phone network that are similarly vulnerable, and installs itself again

On each installation, the worm - written by a hacker calling themselves "ikex" - changes the lock background wallpaper to an image of Rick Astley with the message:

What's clear is that if you have jailbroken your iPhone or iPod Touch, and installed SSH, then you must always change your root user password to something different than the default, "alpine". In fact, it would be a good idea if you didn't use a dictionary word at all.

The worm will not affect users who have not jailbroken their iPhones or who have not installed SSH.

SophosLabs is analysing the worm's code, which suggests that at least four variants have been written so far. One of the attributes of the latest variant (labelled the "D" version) is that it tries to hide its presence by using a filepath suggestive of the Cydia application.

The source code is littered with comments from the author suggesting the worm has been written as an experiment. One of the comments berates affected users for not following instructions when installing SSH, because if they had changed the default password the worm would not have been able to infect them.

Presently it appears that the worm does nothing more malicious than spread and change the infected user's lock screen wallpaper. However, that doesn't mean that attacks like this can be considered harmless.

Accessing someone else's computing device and changing their data without permission is an offence in many countries - and just as with graffiti there is a cost involved in cleaning-up affected iPhones.

Other inquisitive hackers may also be tempted to experiment once they read about the world's first iPhone worm. Furthermore, a more malicious hacker could take the code written by ikee and adapt it to have a more sinister payload.

iPhone users may rush into jailbreaking their iPhones in order to add functionality that Apple may have denied to them, but if they do so carelessly they may also risk their iPhone becoming the target of a hacker.

My prediction is that we may see more attacks like this in the future. Indeed, only last week we saw hacked iPhones in the Netherlands being held hostage for 5 Euros.

Who wrote the ikee iPhone worm?
The source code of the worm says at its start:

A quick trawl of the Whirlpool forum where users are reporting that their iPhones are unexpectedly displaying an image of Rick Astley, reveals a user calling themselves "ike_x".

According to ike_x's user profile on the Whirlpool forum his nearest city is Sydney, Australia . Further searching on the internet reveals other pages seemingly related to ike_x of Wollongong, New South Wales, using the name "Ash" or "Ashley Towns". For instance, here is a MySpace page and this appears to be Ash/ikex on Twitter.

The worm's author appears to have realised that people might be interested to learn why he wrote the worm, and posted this explanation inside the code:

There is a certain irony in the notion that a hacker who says he was trying to expose sloppy security by the owners of jailbroken iPhones has done such a bad job of covering his own tracks..
