Samsung Recovery Solution 5

Hi guys,

Need some help from all the 'sifus' here.

Both my wife and sister bought a Samsung Notebook RV411 with the following specs:
Processor: Intel COre i3 M380 @ 2.53GHz
Ram: 4GB
HDD: 500GB
OS: Windows 7 (64 bit)

My wife's notebook running no problem, BUT my sister's one is like going crazy. The problem started when she plugged in a pen drive that was infected by virus in school. Yup, she's a cikgu, that I always call a Dinosaur cause her IT knowledge is almost zero. After that her MS Word 2010 Starter edition cannot open new document, only appear grey box. If use Internet Explorer, only images appear but no text.

So I tried my hand in helping her. Her notebook has MSE running, so I updated the virus definitions, updated Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and upgraded her IE to ver 9. So far so good. Word works, IE also no problems. I ran SpyBot & AdAware Malware Scanner also turn up ok.

Then Samsung Recovery Solution 5 pops up a message that says "There was an abnormally teminated when running Samsung Recovery Solution"

The problem is I can't find any documentation online on Samsung Recovery Solution 5. Google also no use. So, I did another backup with SRS. But the message keeps popping up for a few days. Then last week, she turn on the laptop but no response. First she said the HDD konk, then later she said her colleague said was a font registry problem in Windows. So she did a restore and it worked fine till today. Just now she SMS me again the laptop once turn on will ask her to choose restore or back up in Samsung screen.

So my question is : Do you guys think it's a hardware issue or is it caused by a virus/worm/malicious code still not cleaned?
Next question: How to find documentation on SRS? Samsung website also tak ada!

Thanks in advance!

Which Processor?

I am looking to buy a new PC but after looking at all the choices out there, my head also pening! What's the difference between Pentium Processor, Intel Core 2 Quad, Pentium 2nd Generation and all the i3,i5, i7? How about AMD?

My needs are quite simple. I run Photoshop, Illustrator mostly, Office and need to go online a lot for ftp. Any recommendations? Right now I get by with a laptop which is going to die soon

I was thinking of getting either a HP or Acer as building one is like rocket science to me!
