I've been giving it a bit of thought, and I could be convinced to part with my beloved Focal Utopia. Despite the fact that it is one of the best top of the line headphones out there, I might not be able to use it as much as I'd like to, given my work schedule.

I recently had a brand new replacement unit provided by Focal, and it is still under warranty for another 3.5 years (ask around, you will realize it's 3x more than what we get normally). As such, I will consider offering it up for sale, with the full packaging unopened and still new in box.

If no interest after a while, I probably will open it and use it again myself

Thanks for stopping by, I have in my possession the Hyla CE-5 universal IEM up for sale.

Package includes: This earphone is in great condition, and will include the original packaging that came with purchase (comes with stock cable, not the Brise upgrade cable pictured). I bought it at retail price from Japan (about $915), serial# 1105.

This is less than a year old, has been used together with my Sony WM1Z, well protected in a carrying case when not in use. This interesting IEM is a 3-way hybrid (dynamic driver, balanced armature and piezo-electric tweeter), that's also only produced in limited quantities (200 units total only) by Hyla, the sister company of Oriolus. Only officially made available and sold in Japan, I've loved the sound of this, but have decided to downsize in order to plan for other priorities (such is life).

After having a conversation with a fellow LYN member recently, it occured to me that many are not aware of the various Japan-domestic items that are on sale in Nippon, and literally nowhere else. Examples of these would be the venerable Sony MDR-EX1000 (apparently discontinued everywhere outside Japan), it's studio cousin the MDR-EX800ST, Fitear's hard-to-find universals, the 334TG/Parterre, Unique Melody's Maverick and Mason, Ultimate Ears Reference Remastered (UERR) universals, etc etc.

As I happen to travel to Japan fairly often, and also have contacts there, I'd like to present an opportunity you won't readily find elsewhere, to buy NEW Japan-only items at reasonable prices, without the sometimes obscene markups you see.

What do I need to do?

1. Find your specific item, and it's domestic retail price from various online sites, personally I would recommend kakaku.com, but there's also others you may prefer. For example, for the aformentioned Sony MDR-EX1000:

2. PM me with the item's link, and your preferred domestic retailer (in other words the cheapest price you could find ). I will send the info to my partner in Tokyo, and get back to you with the estimated costs (including shipping and handling domestically in Japan). Sometimes the listed retail price doesn't involve other hidden costs/tax/etc, so I'll let you know if it's actually more expensive, and if an alternative retailer would be better.

3. Add on service fees (minimum RM200/JPY5000, or 10% of item's value, whichever is higher) + shipping, and transfer the amount to me via PayPal (I'll send you an invoice). To save on shipping costs, you may also choose to consolidate items, or have them shipped separately if you're impatient

4. Wait for about 1 week (all items shipped with tracked EMS from Japan).

Notes, aka the fine print

1. I would obviously recommend only bothering with items that are hard to find outside Japan, for those items also sold here, it's usually better to buy locally, not just to help our economy, but also for coverage/warranty reasons.

2. Related to the above, I would also recommend purchasing new items, where there's less likelyhood for any issues. Of course in the case of warranty claims, I would also be able to help ship the items back/have it sent in for claims... BUT obviously this will be separately chargeable. If you REALLY want to buy used, I can also help source from places like Fujiya Avic and E-earphones, but of course that entirely depends on availability.

3. To be clear, I am also an audiophile and JDM (Japan domestic market) fan, hence my offering this opportunity to others here. I strive to provide the lowest prices possible, from the domestic retail, all the way to shipping back here. All effort will be taken to avoid any additional charges, but in the cases of unavoidable duties/taxes, these will have to be borne by the buyer separately.

4. As I'm personally a fan of audio items, I'm only covering those items here, as it's what I know. If you have something else you might be interested in (anime-related, game-related, etc etc), do get in touch, but no promises

WTS Massdrop/Fostex TH-X00

Selling yet another item from my collection, this time the Massdrop x Fostex TH-X00 headphone. This is from the first batch, with serial number 1161. Additionally, these have also been modded (by @Peterek from headfi) to have removable cables (3.5mm plugs on each earcup). As far as I know, these are the only TH-X00 in Malaysia with removable cables (makes it a lot easier to take them with you when travelling)

Hard to describe it, but they can look caramel-like to brown depending on the angle you're looking at them in the light, quite awesome.
