Faulty Dell XPS 1330

My Dell XPS 1330 running Window Vista Home Premium is about a year old-warranty expired last March. I've been having quite a few problems with it since then.

1) Windows Update doesn't work anymore. Tried installing SP1 in February but it didn't work and had to rollback. Now every time I try installing Windows Updates, an error occurs and the system rolls back. Then when I try to log into my user account, i get a black screen and a window saying I need to activate my version of Windows. The only way I have to solve this problem is to use System Restore, but it's irritating to have to keep doing it.

2) My wireless connection isn't working. I can detect wireless networks, but I can't press the "connect to a network" link that brings up the list of available networks. I posted a topic here at cannot connect to a network, but no solution so far.

3) My DVD drive isn't working either. Whenever I put in a CD or DVD, it makes some noise for a few seconds before ejecting it again. According to the Device Manager, I use a Matshita DVD+-RW UJ-857G device.

4) Now my USB ports aren't working either. Every time I plug in a USB device, it says that the device is not recognised. I tried multiple USB drives but all had the same problem. Funnily enough, my mouse plugs into a USB port and still works fine.

I wonder if my problems are hardware or software based, since I read that both Windows Vista and the XPS 1330 have lots of problems.

Cannot connect to a network

Hi, I'm new to this forum so sorry if I do things wrongly. Anyway, hope someone can help me with my problem. I have a Dell XPS M1330 running Windows Vista that has screwed up lately. For some strange reason, I can't press the "connect to a network" link to connect to any wireless network. The XPS shows that wireless networks are available, but I can't bring up the list that shows the available networks. I have no idea when this started, since I haven't actually used the wireless in about 2 months-hooked up directly to a modem by LAN. Tried running the network diagnose and repair, but all it said was that there was a problem and please contact my provider. No error code at all! I even tried a system restore but that didn't help either. So now I'm stuck with a notebook that can't connect to any wireless, and I need to go outstation in about 2 weeks. I'd really appreciate some help!
