School catch hair during exams?

I'm gonna sit for my stpm soon. Recently, our teacher gave us a talk regarding stuff about the exams for example do and dont's. There is this part where this male teacher said do not keep your hair long during exams. According to him, he will check our hair before we enter to the exam hall and those who having long hair will be cut on the spot. All kinds of silly reasons or excuses will be ignored. I find it totally ridiculous. We suppose to concentrate on our exams and our stpm of course its during holidays and yet these teachers have to look for student's physical offences. Have any of you experienced this incident before?
