i hav download garmin and mapking for my phone.. but i cant use the gps.. my gps setting is the default.. do i need 2 change any setting??

this is my gps setting...
gps program port:COM7
gps hardware port:COM9
Baud rate:4800

but i check my fren phone htc diamond pro.. the port is COM4, baud rate oso different.. shud i follow his setting??
