Windows Loading Issue

Dear Sifus,

Currently i am using the below PC specs. This is my 2nd pc.

Processor : Q6600 (oc to 3.2GHz at 50C temperature average)
MB: Asus P5QL Pro
RAM : Corsair Gaming DDR2 800 RAM 2GB X 2
Harddisk: 1TB Black
HSF : CM Hyper 212
GPU : Palit 4850

I did my routine tim changing and PC cleaning together with changing of processor to Q9650.

No reformatting of windows are done. I put all the things back and run the PC.

BIOS loading ok except prompting of new processor installed. Continued running the PC

Windows loading and prompt boot manager is corrupted.

Then i try using 1 RAM instead of 2 RAM. Window running perfectly without any issues.

The PC was switched on for more than 4 hours without any issue.

I tried all both ram individually and no issue.

Once when i put in 2 RAM together, the message "boot manager is corrupted" is shown after BIOS.

Any idea or advice to solve this issue? My PC is currently running on 2GB instead of 4GB.

Normal Temperature for Q9550 and Q9650

I want to know what is the normal temperature for idle and full load for following processors.

a) Q9550s ---> currently at 40-45 for idle, 45-56 for full load
b) Q9650 ----> not yet tested.

Harddisk Help

Dear all,

I tried to switch on my pc today to continue playing torchlight2. Yesterday everything is fine..no problem. But during bootup, pc can't detect my harddisk. No "klilking" noise or error message. Can feel the harddisk is still spinning.

Put the harddisk in an external harddisk exclosure. Got light and harddisk is spining but pc didn't detect any harddisk.

Anyway to save this harddisk to copy out the data?

[WTA] Stock Temperature for i3 2120

Dear all,

I managed got my processor i3 2120 and use it with CM Hyper 212 Plus which i bought 2nd hand...found that the screws of the cooler is faulty and unable to screw it tight but still can hold to motherboard. Load up the cpu and got the below stats.

Min temperature is 39% which is idle or do browsing.
Max temperature us 59% under 100% load using prime95 test.

Is the temperature ok? Was thinking to change to stock cooler or get replacement screw for hyper 212 plus cooler..

Another thing to ask is my processor is only using 35.1watt under full load although TDP is 65W. Is it under performing?

Please advice.

Advice needed PSU

Dear sifus,

I am planning to build a rig for 24x7 which i think would only use less than 150W on full load. I am in a dilemma now coz i am not sure which type of psu to get.

Should i get

a) PSU with 600W or higher with Active PFC
b) PSU with 350W or less with Passive PFC

For a PSU with 600W, if my pc full load is only 150W, will it pull 600W from power point or only pull 150W? Want to make understand about this first coz the pc will be switched on for 24x7.

I am planning to build a PC which I will switch on for 24x7 to record cctv video. Can any sifu here recommend me a low power consumption processor which can handle window 7 without lagging. I also need a good 6 Sata motherboard and a low profile graphic card.

Dear all,

Need your advice...My neigbhour drives 6 wheels trailer and 2 tonnes lorry. He will parked the trailer and lorry out side his house. I am ok with the lorry as he will drive out early in the morning and only come back during late night. But my concern is his 6 wheels big trailer where he will park there from Friday to Monday. The trailer take more than half of the road and i have difficulties to reverse my car out from my house. I talked to him before and previously, he just drive away and come back the next day with the trailer.

What can i do with this situation? My other neighbours are complaining as well. Does this big trailer parking in housing area an offense? Where and who can i lodge an complaint? Police or MPSJ?

Need your advise...as the bigh trailer is physically blocking my outside view from the inside my house...i only can see a big trailer when i open my door.

Com Port not available

Dear Sifu,

I tried to install a 56K PCI modem in a win7 32bit pc. Everything is ok. No error message and driver is updated by windows to the latest one.

The problem is i can't connect to internet using tmnet..the computer will show error 633. i tried to do a diagnostic with the modem and the system responded by saying the com port is not available and being used by other program. i tried to change to other com port but same message prompt out.

I tried few checks below;

1) uninstall the modem driver.
2) take out the modem and put in back
3) win7 automatically detect the modem and installation is complete

but i still have the same problem.

what happen? my harddisk gone?

still got 2 yrs warranty. should i resend for rma or reformat it again?

Wireless Connection

Dear all sifu,

I am currently using wireless connection in my home. The wireless adapter (Level-One MIMO Wireless Adapter), is situated just besides the wireless router. Lately, i faced constant error in accessing wireless connection. The connection will just change to the "Limited Connection" by itself and need to be disconnected and connect again.

i use it for 7-14hours daily.

Only started to use the adapter for less than a month.

My question: is it normal for wireless connection to change to limited connection when use for a long time?

Game Suddenly Exited Suddenly

Was playing a game and suddenly it exited to windows by itself. Currently playing the game with ATI 4850...previously when play with old gc. 1800GTO. No such issue happen...already update to the latest ati firmware..

Is it something wrong with the gc (ATI4850)?

S2409W Monitor

Need help in the above. I just got my S2409W and everything is ok except i can't watch movie. The screen is blank but got music and sounds when i play movie.

I have done the following;

1. Download latest ATI catalyst driver and install
2. Reinstall back all the movie codecs
3. Try watching with different program

Any advice on the above?

Hi,

Recently, i bought a second hand x1800gto. My current PSU is acbel 350w. My pc hang at detecting IDE drive sometimes when i switch on my pc. It also suddenly restart when i playing game. I tried to overclock my gpu to setting A but couldn't. My fren can achieve setting A without any problem on the same gpu. His PSU is 450w acbel. I am not sure whether it's a insufficient PSU problem or other hardware problem .Any ideas?
