Windows Xp recovery restore failed

Hi..need urgent help

A 7yrs old desktop running on Windows Xp Home Edition without any service pack upgrade before. Just updated to service pack 2 and windows loading freezed on startup.

1st attemp : Safe mode unable to load. Safe mode command prompt unable to loan and stop halfway while loading drivers. 2nd attempt insert windows CD and able to load recovery command prompt and deleted service pack 2 but windows still freeze. 3rd attemp in command prompt to run c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe but it said command not recognized (rstrui.exe exist as I checked in DIR) the problem is unable to load.

I can't format HDD as it contained company data and customized software for account and sales. What can I do?? I am totally lost spending 6 hours resulting nothing.

Can I retrieve the data and run customized software if I install a new OS in second HDD in the same desktop?? I am not sure customized software is a installed program or application. Please help

Hi guys, want to find out from ppstream users do u guys have problems loading video? i tried to load some american drama..but it shown funny funny language i couldnt read it even though i had chinese star installed. some videos are loading well n some are not. Can u guys tell me what is complete video codec i need to download to enable me to load all the movies successfully? Many thanksS!
