PC has no display and no beep sound.

Hello all.

My friend has this PC that has a very weird problem. He described the problem to me as such:

When he tries to turn on his PC, the fans, lights, and hard disk all will spin and turn on, but there is no display on the monitor and no beep sound indicating the system has booted up. I brought it over to my house and cleaned and reseated his RAM and GPU, made sure all the cables were in tightly, no capacitors were bloated and I was able to boot it normally several times before giving it back to him.

BUT! When he arrived home and tested it, it was still showing the same problem.

I have a hunch it could be his wall outlet or his power cable that -may- be causing the problem.

Has anyone ever experienced this very weird situation?

His specs are:-

Intel i7 870
Asus P7P55D-E motherboard
8GB (4gb x2) DDR3 Kingston RAM
Asus GT460
1TB WD Caviar Black (OS) and 500gb WD Green (storage)
Cooler Master GX550w PSU.
Cooler Master HAF932 casing

I do believe that his PSU is sufficient in powering up the system, as it always has until only recently, but I will not rule out the possibility that it IS however failing. Contrary to that, I find the most confusing thing is that it worked perfectly fine at my house.

Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Laptop time keeps skipping ahead.

Good evening all.

Few weeks ago, I formatted one unit HP laptop (can't remember exact model), and installed Windows Vista, everything was working fine, until a few days ago I received a call from the customer saying that the Windows time keeps skipping ahead. From 2011 can become 2014 overnight, but that's only if you turn off the laptop and turn it on again the next day.

I suspect it's maybe the CMOS battery, but usually if it's the CMOS, the time will go backwards, right?

Anyone else ever encounter this problem before?

Good morning everyone.

I have one unit Acer Aspire 4937G having LCD problems.

It looks something like this -

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

When I plug it in with external monitor, no problems found. Already tried replugging the video cable behind the LCD, still same.

This really looks like the LCD is failing already, but my technical supervisor keep saying it could also be inverter, so he keep asking me to test inverter also, or get another same model and test LCD, problem is, there is NO SAME MODEL IN THE WHOLE BLOODY SHOP!! How many days liao he keep repeating same thing, customer also tulan.

In your experience, what does the problem seem to be? Really hope to get some good answers.

What do you think?

Hello all. I got one very serious case here. The story is like this -

My customer bring in a laptop to format. He specifically told me to back up his email files from Outlook Express. It seemed easy enough, but unfortunately I didn't write it down, and it slipped my mind. I only backed up his Outlook emails, which didn't even contain much.

I manually formatted the laptop using the Windows XP CD. He had 2 partitions, so I just chose the quick format to NTFS option for his C drive. I have already installed some software and the drivers, and it's been almost 2 days since then.

Is it still possible for me to recover back his email data? My colleagues keep telling me 100% cannot, but there must be some way, even if small chance only. This customer is quite a bigshot, so his emails and address book are vital for his career.

What do you all suggest?

Japanese song I heard on Malaysia 103.3 radio.

Few days ago, I was tuning in to 103.3fm, they were playing a Japanese song.

I didn't catch the name, and all I can remember are a few words from the song. Can anyone here help me identify the song?

The song was sung by a woman, and accompanied by slow piano music. It was a really sad sounding song, and it went something like, "Ona nii~ da something something~"

It was such a beautiful song, and it's been haunting me ever since! Really appreciate it if anyone can help!

Thanks a bunch!

PROLINK PWH2004 Wireless-N Router problem.

Hello all, I got a PROLINK PWH2004 Wireless-N Router here. Problem is, the wifi is messed up. I am using normal broadband LAN cable for WAN, but when I try to connect to the wifi with my laptop, the connection will say it's connected, and has internet access, but cannot surf web (Google etc). (Note: When I do this with another router, the wifi works).

I already tried updating firmware to latest and resetting by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds but so far no good.

Anyone else encounter this problem? If anyone has any advice how to deal with this, it will be greatly appreciated.

Hello all.

I got one Acer Aspire 1825PTZ. Problem with it is, the top half of the screen cannot use the touch screen to click or drag, only the bottom part can. This happened after I formatted the laptop using a ghost image.

Anyone have any idea what the problem is? I Google'd about it, but it seems no one has encountered this problem yet.

Much thanks to anyone who can help.

Computer hangs at random times. [SOLVED]

READ THE LATEST POST FOR THE SOLUTION!!

As the title says.

This isn't my computer. My friend asked me to take a look at it, but I've been tinkering with it since this morning, and I can't fix it.

These are the specs-
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1013685

The PSU is Cooler Master 550w, and the casing is the Cooler Master Cosmos.

Before my friend asked me to take a look, he told me this computer kept hanging everytime he tried to open My Computer/Document/Windows Explorer. I thought maybe it was because of his OS, since it was Jack edition Windows XP 32bit.

I cleanly formatted it and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

It stopped hanging when trying to open WE, but now it just hangs at random times. Sometimes it hangs when the system is booting up, sometimes after just 1 second in the desktop and sometimes after an hour or two.

I've tried swapping the rams, didn't do anything. I took out the processor fan and took a look at the processor. Nothing much going on over there. Except that the thermal paste has dried off to dust.

Double checked that the cables were plugged in correctly, even took them out and plugged them back in again making sure they were in firmly. Cleaned out some dust from inside as well.

If it helps, the ram sticks were really hot when I touched them.

I hope someone can help me verify the problem.

EDIT: Just hanged again when I tried to post this thread.

EDIT #2

HWMonitor screenshot -

EDIT #3 Finished defragging the hard disk. Waiting to see if it still hangs.

Ai FM Radio Songs.

So like, I heard on the radio the other day a very catchy tune. It was roughly 7pm to 7.30pm and I was listening to Ai FM.

It was sung by 2 females and was really addicting @@;; From the lyrics, I guess it was their promo song, 'cause I kept hearing "Ai FM~" Can't remember most of the lyrics now. ><''

My question is, does anyone have any mp3 downloads for that song? Or any of the Ai FM songs for that matter.

Thanks in advance if anyone has it!

I'm hoping to get a new computer at the end of the year, preferably custom built. I'm still a newbie when it comes to a lot of these things, so I'm hoping I can get some comments and/or constructive criticism in here.

My budget is 3000RM, I hope.

I've narrowed my choices to the following according to PC Zone price list -

PC ZONE PRICE

Motherboard: Asus P5QPL-VM (315RM)

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 [3M Cache, 2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB] (420RM)

RAM: Corsair CGM2X2G800 DDR2 800 5-5-5-18 2GB x2 (100RM each)

HD: SEAGATE 3.5", 7200rpm, SATA3.0, 500GB, 16mb buffer (200RM)

Graphic Card: Sapphire 4850, 512MB, DDR3 (480RM)

CD/DVD: Asus 20x (SATA) 20x/8xDL/14xD-Ram (85RM)

Monitor: Acer 20.0" P205H, A+D, 20000:1, 5ms, with speaker (415RM)

Power Supply: Gigabyte Odin Pro Solid 800W (540RM)

Case Fan: Cooler Master 12CM -4BlueL./SleeveB./2000rpm/9dBA R4-L2R-20CK-GP (38RM)

Computer Case: Aspire X-Discovery can't find price

____________________

I might have missed out on a few vital components, so please correct me.

The total I've come up with, before adding the computer case is 2693RM.
