Hi guys, got myself a used Amway eSpring water filter and need to install it. However, found that the ring adapter that comes together with the box doesn't screw nicely with the faucet that i got.

I watch the installation guide video and it seems there's a universal adapter available but it doesn't come together with the box. Anyone experience this problem before? How should i get to install it in this case?

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, does anyone has any experience in using Dehumidifier to prevent molds? I have some mold issue in my apartment and although i clean it with anti bacteria cleaner, it came back. So am thinking to get a dehumidifier to help.

Found this Zenus Mini Dehumidifier on lazada and the price is quite ok. But not sure whether the capacity is enough for a room or not.

Anyone with experience in this?

Thank you.

Guys, recently got the keys for my new apartment, and had engaged a contractor to help for doing small reno work.

However, the management inform that the walls in the unit are shear wall, and we cannot hack them.

My contractor is amused, mentioning that he will actually sealed the wire properly.

My question is, for shear wall, is it ok for us to put power socket? There's also one side of the wall that i wish to put tiles on, putting tiles on a shear wall is considered hacking or not?

Thanks

Hi all,

Based on the excellent post by Xenon here, i'd managed to code to pull out details from a MyKad via a card reader. However, i'm having problem to do a thumbprint match. My reader provides the fingerprint reading function so i'm required to do a biometric verification, but i have no clue on what's the data type that stored on the kad and how should i be comparing it with the data i get from the device..

Any sifu here managed to do it before?

Many thanks.

Mortgage Amortization tools

Hi all,

Recently purchased a property, and had gotten my first payment disbursement letter from the bank, which means i need to start servicing the loan.

My bank loan is actually a semi-flexi loan and I can put some money into my saving account to reduce the interest paid. However i wonder whether i should put them instead into some investment tool such as unit trust funds to gain more returns.

Is there any tools to calculate out the amortization table for those payment where the property is still under construction? I tried a few online tools but it doesn't give me the correct figure as what the bank gives me. I assume this is because my loan is not the full amount yet as the property is still under construction.

Thanks

[WTA] Flexi Home loan better?

Hi all, i know this topic is being discussed a few times already but i can't find a recent one. So here goes..

Booked a property lately and need to know which loan type is better, the traditional mortgage or the flexi home loans. The details i got from my banker is as below:

Mortgage: BLR - 2.40%
No setup fees

Flexi: BLR - 2.30%
RM 100 setup fees
RM 10 monthly maintenance

Just want to know is there any calculator that i can use to see which one better? As i read some where i can park my salary under the flexi loan current account each month and use my monies from there, and this will help me to save some interest. But i want to know since there are differences in the interest rate in my case, which one will actually benefits me more?

If anyone has any flexi loan calculator that can send me, i'll be glad. Send to ipohfly@gmail.com

Thanks

Hi,

Trying to find some softwares but found that most software selling in the trade zone are OEMs. Is it legal to use OEM software on another machine?

As far as i know OEM software means software that comes together with the hardware, so if i purchase an OEM software but not the hardware, and i use it on my own machine, does that still considered as pirated software?

Asking coz am trying to get a software for commercial use.

Thanx

Streamyx Modem + Phone prob?

I'd applied Streamyx and something weird happened. Don't know whether this can help or not so post here to see whether someone else encounter this before...

When i activated the account, the connection is fine, bandwidth is good, but i notice that the phone doesn't have any dial tone (i'm using the splitter provided with the modem to split the line with phone and modem). Thus i called the help center and log the case.

After few days, i notice that the phone is suddenly workable with dial tone, but my internet connection go on moody. The connection is slow, my MSN is keep on logging in and out, and certain sites loading time is so slow u think i'm on 56K.

Then i thought that it had something to do with the phone, so instead of splitting the line, i connect the hard line directly to the modem, then my internet connection resume back to the normal states. So now my hard line is being solely use as a broadband line only.

Not sure whether the problem is with the splitter or some back end setting. And don't know whether is restricted to this area (i'm staying in Bayu Puteri, last time when i stay in another area splitting my line do not give me this problem...)..

Anyone face the same thing before?

Laptops, and more Laptops

Lately been searching through the net for laptops due to request from a few friends. Found that a few brands are having the most shares of attention. Not sure whether this topic exists in here or not (tried to search for laptop but can't find), just wanna know how u guys think of these brands (and their models):

DELL
The ultimate brand to go at if u have a tight budget. Good service (as i heard since i didn't have any laptops) and value for good hardware specs. But some friends do experience casing problems after 1 or 2 years of usage (keyboard spoil, plastic cover broken etc). The XPS is really looking cool though.

HP
Good hardware specification (and so i heard) but slightly expensive. Not sure how's the customer support. The design look nice to me (even better than Dell's Latitude, but that's a personal perception). Anyone have any bad experience with HP's laptops?

Acer
Personally i'd banned anything with the brand Acer after having a nightmare with its Desktop. But i do have a few friends who're having a breeze with its laptop. They even put Acer's lappies above Dell and HPs. Hmm, perhaps i'm the only one that's unlucky?

Lenovo
I like ThinkPad but not my wallet. When i heard that Lenovo's coming out with a few low budget laptop i was kinda thrilled. Don't think it's popular in malaysia, ain't it? Anyone using it?

Just for the sake of discussion.
