So far, I've tried using the Bloomberg website, but it is very limited in it's information.

Hi all, I'm starting out as a beginner in this finance stuff, and I'm looking for sources of learning material. Currently I occasionally buy the Personal Money magazine whenever I have some free time, not sure if it's very useful yet, if it is I'm gonna subscribe. Also, I try to spend some time reading about money management stuff at blogs like GetRichSlowly.

Anyway, I'm looking for books, magazines, websites etc that can help me learn and build my knowledge/skill to handle my money well.

1. I'm more interested in the basic stuff, as in educational articles aka tax laws, fundamental analysis, financial advice in general etc, rather than news stories, since I don't think I'm at the level where these news are going to be of much help to me yet.
2. Imho, I think for now, I'd be better off just focusing on the Malaysian market, in order to not get too overwhelmed by the wealth of information.
3. I try to find some time to educate myself, but all in all, I'm kinda pressed for time. So if you have only enough time to dedicate to, say, 4 sources, then what would you guys recommend?

Any other criteria that you guys would recommend to help me filter out the good stuff from the noise?

Also, do you guys have ever received any particularly helpful general advice that you can share?

Don't know if I can phrase my confusion well enough, but what are the ETFs and Index Funds available in Malaysia, and where can I get more details regarding these?

I am just a student and a complete beginner to investing, but from what limited stuff that I can gather, these instruments fit my needs, as in being relatively safe and not so volatile, low cost, and not particularly complex to understand. Am I correct about this?

I am trying to get some experience with investing, and thought that this would be a good place to start.

Need help from those who are knowledgeable about this, thanks.

Steam Problem: Cannot connect

Hi, dunno if this is the right thread, but I reformatted Win7, installed Steam, then it said "Could not connect to the Steam network" when I tried to sign in, in fact, I couldn't even get into the sign in screen.

I also tried to start offline, but since I did not log in before, I cannot go offline yet... Can anyone help me out with this problem? Thanks!

I was wondering, is it possible for a faulty mobo to wreck the PSU?

Cos I've got either a possibly spoiled PSU or mobo, and I want to use my other PSU to test and see if the mobo's really spoiled, but am scared that my other PSU will kaputt also...

Or are there any other ways to test for a spoiled mobo or PSU?

Where to buy good running shoes?

Hi, I'm a first year uni student in KL, from Penang, currently a bit bored, so plan to take up running to improve stamina and stuff. I heard that my current shoes are bad for running because they have a flat sole among other shortcomings, is that true? What characteristics does a running shoe need to have?

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting a low end (budget <200)pair of shoes for running, but i don't know which shoe to get, so can anyone recommend a good store in Penang or KL where the people there are good at their job/helpful/knows what they're doing etc?

Also, I've heard some good things about the Vibram Fivefingers, do you think they're good for running? Are they worth their price at rm200+?

Yep, just as the title said. Looking for a speaker, I found a Z-103 for ~RM89, and a relatively new Evo-5 for around the same price. So, which one would be better worth the price? I've heard that sonic gear products are not really good, but taken into account the lower price of the Evo 5, which one is more worth it?

Should I sell my rig?

Hi, I'm currently using a i5 750 + 5850 setup, great gaming experience, but I'm going to uni soon, and don't think I can/want to lug along the desktop.

But at home, my parents and brother don't really play games, and an i5 750 and 5850 for simple web surfing seems like overkill and a waste of money.

So, should I sell my rig to prevent it from losing value, and then rebuild when I've finished school, or should I just keep it at home, since it's still gonna be somewhat usable 4/5 years later, with a 5850 CF?

It's only been half a year, and I bought the 5850 for 990, and the i5 for around 700, how much could I expect to get if I want to sell it within a month or so?

Anyone who went through the same thing, can you please share your experience/advice? Thanks!

Oh, and I realized that this is not exactly a hardware question, but it's still somewhat related to hardware, right?

Hi, I'm still new to this HT stuff, and I've got 2 questions:

1) What is the absolute minimum cost for a very low end 5.1 system that is still halfway decent?

2) For, say, a budget of RM800-1200, what would be the choice that gives the most bang for the buck? A 5.1 PC speaker setup, a 5.1 HTIB, or buying separate speakers and receiver, if that's even possible at this price range?
