application for IT job in UK

Dear LYian please help !

Story :
I applied for an IT position (database related) with an UK company in early dec 2011. I've already mentioned I do not have visa/permit to work in UK, the HR proceed with my interview with a lot questionnaires to fill. Second stage, was a phone interview with Germany & UK managers. Apparently I got positive feedback and they want to process me. During this whole month, different people in the HR dept emailed me to reconfirm whether I have a valid working visa or not, which I replied No I do not have a Visa and require sponsorship. They just reply to proceed/schedule the next interview, etc. So the perception I get is, they have no problem on my visa which I assume they would sponsor la. Then someone from HR in UK mailed me ask me to go to their office in KL to meet face to face with the HR in KL, i said ok. then 1 week later another email from the same person asking me do I have a valid working visa, i said no i do not have. Then she said since i do not have a visa then they cannot arrange the meeting with the HR in KL office.

I thought they needed to arrange something else first... so i waited... then she's on leave (xmas break) then today I called again, she said she already stated in the email I do not have visa so cannot proceed. Aiyo her email never mention anything about that. So I ask again, she said the company will not sponsor visa, and it is mandatory to possess a valid visa to apply for this post. So i say "I've already indicated this during my application, and the HR is OK and proceed with processing my application and schedule interview" she said yes i pass the interview and all but i will need to have a visa for this job. So if i am able to get a working visa, she can reprocess my application again.

So what should I do now? I am stuck here, i passed the interview and all and cannot proceed further due to no visa. Can I apply the visa myself? How do i get the visa?

Please advise!

Thanks !

wanna ask something about gal friends

Hi CCians,

I got a good friend (actually ex-colleague) but we became good frens and got come out makan or yamchar. We got a lot topics to talk and can talk day and night.Ok, these aside, my question is that when we makan she would share with me and i'll share mine with her, then even drinks, she'll just conveniently take my drink and drink from my straw.. sooner later it's like normal already, when we order drinks, she'll just drink mine without asking, and sometime if she order something special drinks she'll ask me try hers also.

Is all girls like this? to me, actually I only share drinks with my ex-gf. Somehow I'm quite reserve with the thought of tasting someone else's saliva (i only shared drinks with my family and my ex my whole life) So for me a guy also I a bit "conservative" liao, is girl the same too? I'm not trying to perasan or what, but does she has something on me? Else she wouldn't had willing to share drinks with me, furthermore a guy..

Plz dun flame ok. thx

Dear /K/,

I know this should be in Jobs & Career section.. but the people are DEAD there... I believe /K/tards is smart and intelligent people too. So I would prefer asking you guys... plz note the SERIOUS TALK ok? I dowan ppl troll then kena vacasyun.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear all,

In the past I always think that these kind of Questions should be answered myself and not ask other people. I am wrong. I feel troubled about this until I realize the importance of others' advice as well. So I'm hoping you guys can help me on this.

I'm a 25 years old IT people. Currently my pay is X amount (more than RM5k). Last month, a headhunter called me ask me want to try this job at a Swiss healthcare MNC or not. It's the largest healthcare company in the world (sales, products). Then last week he called again and said the manager very interested with my profile want interview me. He said sure get dy coz the interview is just to meet me to chit-chat (apparently my resume/experience is impressive). It is a contract role (support) for 1 year renewable (RM700 per day). So here comes my dilemma.

I have a dream. I love to travel. and working oversea. I used to travel and work a lot but due to economic downturn I wasn't able to travel anymore coz projects halt. I'm in the implementation team (team lead). I'm now looking for oversea jobs and there's recruiter from Germany whom they called me up and the only fallback is I'm not able to speak in German, and of course a work visa there. Now I'm taking up German course and once I completed I will fly there to attend interviews. You guys might think why not go to english speaking country like UK. Coz it's a lot more opening in Germany compared to UK for this field.

Now my problem is... I am not sure to take up the high paying job, or to pursue my dream job.

If I take up the contract role,
A.) I get more money... to prepare for my future
B.) I can live more comfortably and do stuff i really want
C.) learning curve will drop coz it's a support role
D.) stuck doing support for 1 year which is so boring
E.) my dream to work oversea will be... no more.. coz i will be so comfy with this job tat until 30 yrs old i still do this.. tat time nak kahwin dah cannot travel

If I reject this offer and study hard towards my dream
A.) dream comes true
B.) can work around Europe and open my eyes learn new stuff
C.) but worry WHAT-IF I cannot get any jobs then (anything is possible rite?)
D.) might lose the opportunity to get high pay

I know sooner or later RM1k per month is no problem to me (but that will be .. 10 yrs later?) tat time i old dy.... if I don't grab hold of this opportunity at this young age where I can do anything i want (buy a sport car, dowan old liao baru can drive sport car) i dowan wait til old liao oni high pay. But the trade off is ... i cannot fulfill my goals/dreams.

How ah sad.gif

The job the recruiter gave me is Euro60,000-90,000 annually. Tax is 40% (refundable upon retirement 100% of amount paid) Since i'll be there I'm gonna spend in Euro too... so 60,000-90,000 same like what i'm getting now aso ... the oni diff is now is RM, there is EURO.

Thanks for reading my long rant. It's really hard for me to decide.. It's like comparing Orange and Apple...... both also good choice... but I really need 3rd party opinion.... unless if it's Orange and Dragonfruit then I sure won't trouble u guys dy.

Plz advise sad.gif

edit: Guys i know the $$$ benefit if i stay in malaysia for the contract job. but now my question is shud i put $$$ aside and go for my dreams now?

thx

Since young I’ve been an instant-noodle lover. I tried to be creative and over the past few years tried a lot of different cooking methods using instant-noodle. So I’ll now share with you guys how to cook a simple yet healthily delicious instant noodle.

instant noodle = Wax (read here and here). I believe you guys know the adverse effects of too much wax in your body will result in liver failure.
