Running a marathon without training

Signed up for the Penang Marathon about 6 months in advance (hero!) but have fallen back on training. Literally have not been running at all for the past 2-3 months despite running many half marathons before.

making friends at work?

just recently joined this small company, and people there are nice but we are like "hi-bye" colleagues. the current employees there aren't even really friends, it is almost like all of them have already established their circle of friends and are really secure and not really trying to look for new friends. is it this way in a lot of companies or is it possible to make friends in working life? i'd like to always differentiate colleagues from friends because obviously colleagues are not necessarily your friends. anyway, i'm more or less a freshie so am just trying to get a gauge or working life. feels like people make all their friends during school/college/uni. also has anyone met their lover in the same company? doesn't seem very likely in my office wtf

i know it sounds really superficial but it's true from my POV. even below-average guys always chase pretty girls and eventually end up with one. been single for a long time already.. aiyo really dont want to come off as desperate but. i don't think i'm ugly maybe below avg. i think the only solution to get a bf is to be pretty (start losing weight wearing makeup etc)

i plan to get a debit card so that i can buy apps from the app store. am quite noob in this debit/credit card biz but how do i know for sure that my card will be recognized by apple? i heard that you can't use affin banks' debit card for online transactions. :/

any recommendation on which debit card i should get? what about UOB's?

ever since i was young i grew up in an all-english environment. my aunts and uncles (whom i saw most often) spoke english, and so did my family. i went to a kebangsaan school both in primary, and then secondary - and had chinese friends who were bananas as well. i never saw the importance of mandarin. until i went to college and everyone spoke mandarin, it was almost like a culture-shock. i felt so ashamed for not knowing how to speak, and even more frustrated that i couldn't understand what they were saying. my ability to make new friends was jeopardized by the fact that i couldn't speak the language, and i was often involuntarily left out of conversations.

so - what do you think, are bananas inferior to chinese people who speak mandarin because they can't even speak their mother tongue?
