For sale is a used modded Vox Pathfinder 15R roughly 2 years old. These solid states amps nail the Vox tone at a price that won't break the bank, perfect for practice at home. It also comes with boost function, tremolo and a spring reverb.

I'm selling it is because I'm too lazy to attach my pedalboard for some brief noodling and got a Microcube with built-in effects for this purpose. Might as well clear the clutter.

I've added a mod the the amp, allowing it to be used as a speaker cab for your low wattage amp heads. I used it briefly as a speaker cab for an Orange Tiny Terror in 7 watt mode before I got myself a 12" speaker cab.

First of all, let me just say that I am impressed at how similar the pedal sounds compared to the original it is spot on with how the presence and drive controls interact with each other. The drive was also dead on with it turned all the way down, it is supposed to not change the guitar's signal at all, and it'll start having a slight breakup with the gain around 9/10pm, you'll also get a complete clean up with the guitar's volume turned halfway. Again this feature is exactly how it should be with the original.

Once you crank the gain all the way up, you get an OD tone that has chunky fuzzy overtone just like the feeling of eating a cake heh. The original does just that. The whole pedal is 99 if not 100% the same as the original with neater wiring (another prop to Justin) I can't say enough about how satisfied I am with it. Used it live with my ac15 and it sounded terrific both individually and stacked.

Lastly I would just like to say how gorgeous the pedal looks especially with the marshall knobs. Gold + Black = kickass looks + tone haha. Would definitely recommend currynoodles to anyone anytime anywhere. Keep up the good work.

Electric Guitar Servicing in Subang Jaya

Was wondering if there are any recommended places within Subang Jaya to do some basic electric guitar servicing (Truss Rod, Intonation and Action).

I usually go to Simon Liew (who's now in the PJ area) but since I started working it has been difficult to get a guitar to him before he closes. Used to love the days he was based in SS15.

Any places you would personally recommend?

Vox Pathfinder 15R buzzing.

I've had my Pathfinder (solid state amp) for about 3 weeks. Around the day I got it I noticed that there's a buzzing coming from the amp, more apparent when the gain and reverb are set to higher values. I did not notice this at the shop probably because I did not turn up the settings as much as I did at home.

The sound is at its worse when I'm not touching the guitar. The buzz is reduced significantly when the strings or bridge area is touched (grounding problems?) I also noticed the buzz goes away when the tone knob on the guitar is set to zero.

I've tried looking at other variables, it's not the cable and not the guitar. (Tested with 3 different guitars of varying pickup configurations, humbuckers and single coils)

Also tried taking it to a friends place to rule out power supply issues but it's the same. Interestingly, his AC15C1 (tubes) produces the exact same buzzing with the same symptoms.

The power plug of the Pathfinder is a 2-pin one.

Any ideas? Is it a shielding issue? Grounding? Or is the amp "Just like that"?

Electric Guitar on flight.

I'm planning to purchase an electric guitar through a friend in the US. He'll be bringing it back with him (through Korean Air) when he comes back to M'sia for the holidays.

Anyone has any experience in bringing back a guitar from overseas? Did you check it in or carry it on on the flight? I initially just wanted to get a soft case for it so that my friend will be able to carry-on, but from what I understand they won't always let you through and you'll have to check it in. (with a soft-case, the horror.)

My concern is that the guitar I intend to get (Schecter Solo-6 series) has an unusual shape, hence it can only fit in a universal hard case. I'm worried that if the fit is not very snug it'll be more prone to damage.

Any experience to share?

Cannot detect wireless network

Hey guys, wondered if anyone else had this problem before.

Previously I had my xbox 360 slim (unmodded) configured to connect to my home wireless network since the day I bought it (not too long ago). It has been used to stream video from other pc's, download games and online play.

However last night I noticed it could not get it to work with my home wireless anymore. It either does not detect any wireless networks entirely or can detect it but fails in the network test.

Other devices seem to work with the wireless network perfectly fine. I have attempted to revert network settings to factory state (somewhere under wireless settings) but it did not work.

Any suggestions? I'll try to thoroughly troubleshoot my xbox later when I'm back. I'm just hoping it's not a hardware failure. It hasn't even been a month!

UK Xbox 360 arcade in Malaysia?

I'm in the UK at the moment and here they're selling the Xbox 360 arcade for RM 610. A quick check on Lowyat's Garage sale shows that it averages around RM950++ for the exact same thing.

I was considering if I should purchase it since I am going back soon. I'm just concerned about any compatibility issues that I might stumble upon when it comes to games. Will it be a big problem? I couldn't find what region the original games sold in Malaysia are. (NTSC-J, NTSC-U/C or PAL.) I noticed most of the big releases are not region locked.

Anyone out there in Malaysia with a UK unit? Or if you're experienced in this topic do advice. Thanks in advance!
