Being a freelancer - Does it make a difference?

Does it make a difference in terms of increase business dealings / chances to get more clients if you are a freelancer with a Sole Proprietorship license and for those without? Kinda arguing with a friend on this.

I don't see any difference there though.

Company hiding positive covid 19 cases in office

Company has staff kena covid. Two confirmed cases de.

Round 1: Top management instructed staff to declare he wasn't at office few days before he kena so not counted as workplace case.

Round 2: Top management not planning to announce to all staffs that one person already tested positive.

Reason is they don't want the office to be closed for 14 days and staffs work from home.

How do we act on this?

How to choose between 2 companies?

Ok Tldr, if you have these 2 job opportunities, which one better?

1. Bigger company. You join as Asst Manager but your experience enuf for Manager. Salary is Asst. Manager salary and work is a little lower than AM work.

2. Smaller company. You join as Manager and your experience can be Manager. Work is Manager work. Same salary as Company 1.

Which one you think better?

Company no use brain when decision making

Working with 1 manufacturer of items.

Customers telling marketing team that products not good, many defects. Customers reducing orders.

Management see sales dropping asks Marketing why sales drop.

Marketing said products defect a lot. Actually is because company use many cheap unskilled labour in production, causing defects but management not admitting. Keep bashing marketing fault for lousy marketing. Ask the marketing team go train more and go tell the customers dun so picky over small defects.

I can't brain.

Offer Letter start date not same as actual date

Story:

Small company, issued offer letter with start date of 21st December 2020.

In the end of November 2020, the small company called asking if I can start earlier, as in 1st December 2020.

Went to nego with my current boss and since he doesn't want to pay more overheads, he let me go off on 30th November 2020.

Went back to tell the new small company that I can join in 1st December 2020, the new company said they now having some staffing issues and all so cannot let me join 1st December 2020 anymore.

Worse case is, they asked me to come to work (and started paying me salary) on 4th January 2021.

In this case, there was no new offer letter issued.

Can I say that my offer letter is considered invalid?

Ok, not enough money to file a divorce.

Wife isn't giving what I want or need (you know la) and still wants to maintain a life of married couple (in name).

3 years no notty liao.

Wife pretend nothing wrong in front others.

Scared if file divorce, money end up gone coz need pay maintenance every month.

Don't dare to try other ppl outside as feeling they won't accept married man.

How do I get out of this?

Starting new job on the wrong foot

Ok I know what you all will say but let me tell story first.

I served notice of 3 months from previous company.

Tomorrow I starting new job but there's a big problem.

Last week, I attended a briefing meeting with the new company's senior who was supposed to hand things over to me. I realised I do not have the soft skills for the job. You all will be wondering what the hell am I saying.

OK, I am a Business Studies lecturer from a tertiary education environment. It was kinda like those colleges that you bond with students to get things done easily.

I wasn't aware until the briefing last week that the new "college" that I am joining is following a "private school" system where interaction with parents is very heavy and there can't be bonding with students. It's more like I must give the I am your lecturer, you are my student, do as I say kinda environment.

When I heard that, my brain shut down for a while as I do not know how to react. For the past 7 years in the old place, I was performing excellent bring the good cop and I never have what it takes to be a bad cop.

I am already doubting I can survive there for long before I go in.

So my question is, should I raise my concern to the new place? And before you all ask, no, they don't compromise different culture and teaching methods as they prefer uniformity.

What will happen if I open up to them?

Today got one guy, he took meat and vege. The guy indon maid charged RM8. Then when he was going off, the boss who was done serving another customer said to him "Huh? RM8? No la, RM9" after the guy paid RM8. The boss insisted he pay the extra RM1 or he beat him up. Can like this wan meh?

Restructuring of college and force closure

OK, here's a serious question.

I have a friend whose cousin is studying in a college going through rough times.

The college is planning to restructure and rationalise all business models.

This was presented to the fella studying there:

1. He was 1 of 5 students doing a degree in that specific field, aka Marketing.
2. The college plans to close off the Marketing course due to low numbers and is offering him to go either Accounting or Management.
3. No refusal of moving can be allowed as management made a decision to close it immediately.

Now the guy has nowhere to go as he just finished his Year 2 in Marketing there and does not intend to switch course.

Questions:

1. Can a college do that and force students to switch?

2. Can the student complain to the MOHE about this issue?

Parents protecting their children to extremes

There was once a girl I liked because she was hot stuff and good looking. 3 years ago I heard she married my distant friend. Only meet him like once a year or so. Ytd met him he said he was in a situation.

Few months back he found the wife was having flirtatious chats with a guy. She lied to him saying it's a girl. Once he followed her and it was a guy. A young handsome dude at his 20s. They hold hands and they exchange pecks on the faces. He took photos of them and confronted her back at home. He asked for a clear cut decision, him or the young dude. She said it's not right to force her to choose. She said she wants attention from someone else when the husband is not free at work. She termed it not wrong. He decided that a divorce is a must.

The nightmare continued when the parents show up at the guy's workplace demanding he explain why a divorce is neccesary in such a small case of argument. They used hobby of wanting attention as the way to describe their daughter and they revealed this wasn't the first 1. They also said that the daughter promised no sexual acts ever with these attention givers as a argument point to hash the guy. They said that a loyal wife 100% is impossible so make do with what he can. They added that he should be responsible and accept everything the daughter is like a man rather than walking out like a wuss.

Now the parents have made known to the whole guy and girl side family that the guy is heartless for doing a divorce. The guy's parents are leaving the decision on his hands but hope the decision will be the best for not only him but for both families.

But why parents like that wan?

Friend recently bought a phone from lazada. Dunno what model but his wife specifically asked for Blue. He ordered blue and did show he ordered blue in his history. It came to him black. He went complaining to the seller about it, the seller said he put wrong price for blue as blue is more expensive so he sent the black one as the price paid by my friend is equal to a black. My friend wanted to return and add on money for the blue but the seller just said something like take it or leave it, once opened can return. The seller also said colour wrong Lazada won't let him cancel order or ask seller refund.

Any ways to help him?

A not so sexy story

Cousin was at a club, hooked up a girl and ended up "you know what" with the girl.

On the next morning, he realised he was at the girl's house and the parents found them on the bed.

The girl told her parents that my cousin is her 1 year long bf and they did things on bed long ago.

To my cousin's surprise, the girl was only 17 and snooped in the club with the rest of her friends who are 21 above.

So now the parents giving him 2 choices:

1. Continue dating the girl and agree to marry the daughter when she is 21 (a letter document will be signed for legal sake) OR

2. They will call the police saying he raped a minor

My cousin dunno what to choose as he barely knew the girl and he doesn't want to kena sebat.

He was given 1 week to consider his options.

What should he do?

Seller's Dilemma

OK. Let's say I am selling 2 items in a set.

Item A is RM250, Item B is RM200

Both items are like a pair and can only sell easily when sold together. Very very few buyers will be interested in either 1 alone.

Case:

Got a buyer. At first he wanted both and was the first to contact me. So I locked for him and he said he will pay 1 per week.

Last week he paid RM250 for A. The original deal was, once both paid, they will be posted out together.

Yesterday, the buyer came to me and said he didn't want B anymore as his friend bought 1 for him as a gift.

He insisted that I post out A for him since he already paid for A.

But I told him B alone can't sell without B.

He refuse any refunds or whatsoever as he desperately wants A to complete the set.

Question: Should I just take the risk, and let him have A and have B sit with me for the next eternity?

Do you guys think a full time 9-5 job is still

Looking at so many 'advertised' young entrepreneurs, I noticed that there are some declines in the fulfillment of some lower or medium level jobs in the job market.

The questions here are:

1. Is 9-5 job still a relevant thing?

2. How do these so called entrepreneurs make money like today start business, 2 months later can earn so much? Where did they get the capital from?

Story :
Two lanes. Left lane can turn left and go straight. Right lane can only go straight. I was coming from the left lane. Right lane got a long queue but left lane empty. While I was coming in, one car from the right lane who was supposed to be stationary suddenly put indicator and immediately swerve out to the left to try avoid the queue. I nearly hit him if I didn't stop fast enough.

If I were to hit him, would the insurance claim be on me or on him as in he salah or I salah? Thanks

I don't understand contract employment at my work

Ok here's a funny case to ponder on.

Due to the fact that the company ain't doing very well, every new employee coming in after my time are all under contract. But their contract terms and contract is funny as shyt as they have notice period on contract employment:

Assuming a 1 year contract of 1 January to 31 December.

Notice period 3 months.

If a person resigns within contract period, you need to give 3 months notice. So if resign in August, can only leave in November.

But here's the catch, if you resign in October onwards also, you need to serve 3 months which exceeds your contract term. Basically if you resign on October, your last day is on January next year. I don't understand this part.

And if they never give you a new contract before 31 December, but they shove you a contract after 31 December, you still need to serve 3 months from the date you deny accepting new contract if you decide to do so. Is the law really like this?

How to stop a special needs person stalking

Friend and gf recently joined volunteer service for special needs home. Got one guy about 30+ years old, having not only special needs but a little bit mentally unstable is stalking the gf after meeting her 3 times. At first the gf didn't know he was stalking until one day, he called her up saying how much he likes her. Unaware how serious his condition was, she rejected him nicely but he banged the phone, banged his head on the wall and masuk hospital. The home has since warned my friend and his gf not to trigger him anymore. My friend and the gf volunteered this under the company they work for as part of csr and an agreement was signed for completing 12 weeks of service with them. They wanted to terminate the service asap but the management of the home disagreed as they want the contract term of 12 weeks to be adhered to. Worse still, the guy continues to stalk his gf by sending random sms to her saying how beautiful she is and how much he wants her by his side. They are scared that one day, the guy might pop up at her doorstep as the guy is an expert in stalking. Found her number from digging through volunteer records in the management office. Is there a way to stop the guy from stalking and harassing for the next 10 weeks? She tries ignoring and not replying but since he knows the schedule they will come, he kinda waits for her when she comes and try to approach her.
