Upgrading of OKU Home Wireless Broadband package

Dear Maxis,

I am currently on OKU Home wireless internet package 7+21 and am paying 50% off of normal RM139/month price. It's registered under my mother-in-law's name as she is a stroke patient.
I would now like to upgrade to the 12+36 package at the same 50% OKU rate as well.

My questions are:

1. Do I still need to bring my mother-in-law physically to a Maxis store for the upgrade to continue enjoying OKU rates?
2. I notice an upgrade option in the self care portal, but it displays the normal full price of RM169/month only. Therefore, I'm apprehensive of upgrading this way in case I will be charged the full rate. So can I use this option to get discounted rate?
3. I assume I'm currently out of contract (registered in Oct 2013). So, when I upgrade my package will I be subjected to another 12-month contract period?

Thank you

Maxis 42Mbps modem not on Maxis Online Store?

Hi all,

Am considering Maxis Wireless Broadband coz 4Mbps Streamyx can't be installed at my place (line attenuation less than 15db ).

I want to opt for the 42Mbps modem offered free for the Regular Streamer (20 GB quota) package. Even though it appears on the website but once you click on the link to the online store the option for the modem isn't there... only the 21MBps PortaFi and MiFi. I know I can walk in to any Maxis Centre to sign up but I want to avail myself of the 1st month free online offer

Anyone else faced the same problem with me?

Cheers

Component to HDMI converter

Hello guys,

Ok my problem. I have a Nintendo Wii that is connected to my TV via component video. Since it doesn't output in HD/HDMI that's the best quality I'm going to get. I've just subscribed Astro (non-HD) and it's currently connected to my TV via normal RCA cables. I understand that the HDMI connection can only be used if I go HD (stupid!!), so my best bet for better Astro SD video quality would be to go component right?

Since my TV, or most TVs for that matter, have only 1 set of component inputs, I'm stuck.
Was thinking of getting a component to HDMI converter to utilise one of the 3 free HDMI ports on the TV. My question is, is it worth it to do it this way, or the difference in quality is negligible? Been searching on lelong, mudah and local stores in KK, Sabah, but seems like this converter is quite hard to find. For those based in Klang Valley, do you think I can get this converter in Pasar Road?

Appreciate any suggestions offered

Guitar as carry on luggage?

Hi, as per the title, I plan on carrying on board as carry on luggage my guitar from KL to KK, Sabah.
Anyone done that before? Or they will insist to check it in?

Also planning to get a new axe, and prices here in KK are crazy or the options limited. So, I was thinking of buying in KL and then carrying over too.
But if only can check in then I'm really not keen. Cannot imagine the guitar sampai with broken neck

sorry if this has been asked (been searching on forum but can't find)

Astro Mobile TV on Digi

Hi as per the topic, I just came across Astro Mobile TV on the Digi website today.
Was wondering if anyone has tried it yet?
Is it a must to continue after the 7 day trial or are we offered a choice to terminate/subscribe?
Also, do we have to subscribe weekly/monthly or does it just autorenew? Not much info on website about termination.

Quite a good deal considering that I can output video on my N95 8GB to my TV. So, technically still can watch Astro without paying the, frankly speaking, exorbitant fees.

Hi, as per the topic, any of you using this plan?
Is 300mb sufficient for light browsing (facebook, twitter), occasional downloading of Android apps plus the normal widget updates (emails, weather etc)?
Also I can't find anything on the Digi website on a contract period or how to go about canceling the plan....or maybe I wasn't looking hard enough?

[WTA] Why my Clie TH55 died?

Hi all,

I have a Sony Clie TH55 PDA bought in 2004. Has been working fine since then.
I use it mainly as an MP3 player and light gaming.
But yesterday the PDA just refused to power up even after repeatedly pushing the power slider. Tried pushing all the buttons, resetting it etc but to no avail.
So I thought initially that it was a drained battery, but when i got home and popped it into the charger, the Power sign lighted up red (sign that it is charging). And when I tried turning it on again after a full charge, it still wouldn't power up!
If the battery is dead, should I be getting the red lighted Power sign? I'm not really sure what's the cause, coz I dont remember dropping or banging it on anything immediately prior to it not functioning.
Could it be a strong magnetic field?

Also do any of you guys know of a good PDA repair shop? Or should I just send it back to Sony Bandar Utama?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

[addedon]April 11, 2008, 4:31 am[/addedon]No takers?
Well, guess I have to retire it then.....

Been using Vegas 6 to transfer my Digital 8 home videos to avi via Firewire.
Lately have been getting lots of dropped frames. Not really sure why, as previously used to be ok when I shutdown most of the background running applications.
Now with everything down, I still experience it.
Just wanna know what can cause it other than multitasking at same time.

BTW I'm using a P3-800 with 1GB SDRAM and 128MB GeForce FX 5200.

Thanks.
