Maxis Fiber: Anyone using Custom Routers?

Anywhere here on Maxis Fiber Broadband who is not using the standard router given by Maxis/Astro? I'm on the Astro IPTV package that links with Maxis Broadband, and I was provided the Technicolor Residential Gateway (as it is with everyone not in a condo, I understand).

I'm interested to know what router/gateway you're using, and whether the performance has been great, especially your Astro performance.

Personally, I have the TP-Link N750 WDR4300 and although I managed to get everything hooked up and working, using Astro has proved to be a little sluggish, and the program info slow to update as you scroll through channels or via the Channel Guide.

Just wanted to see what other people's experiences are.

Thanks all!

Stuttering B.yond with Maxis BB + TP-Link Router

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Maxis Broadband + IPTV
Location: Putra Heights
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: Nope, coz not supported

Personal equipment
Modem: Default Maxis Broadband Modem
Router: TP-Link N750 WDR4300
Firewall used: Provided in Router

Problem details
Problem description: I wanted to use my TP-Link router in place of the default Technicolor router provided by Maxis Broadband. I updated the firmware on the TP-Link, and I followed the instructions here to set it up.

When I hooked up the Astro IPTV box to the router, however, I noticed that the Astro performance dropped. The streaming is fine, but attempting to get channel information, or looking up the Astro Guide and browsing future shows, all had a very noticeable lag. The info takes fully 5 seconds or more to refresh.

I unhooked everything from the TP-Link and hooked up the Technicolor again, and the Astro performance was markedly better (what I was used to).

Anyone else using non-Technicolor routers for Astro IPTV and seeing the same performance issues?

Thanks in advance!

Note: I have looked up a related post here in LYN, but I want to replace the Technicolor router with the TP-Link router, not to use it in conjunction with it.
Note 2: The wireless performance on the TP-Link seemed fine to me. The Astro performance is the one I'm unhappy about.
