Multiprocessor machine

multiprocessor machine has 30 attached I/O devices. There is a large number of jobs to be executed and each require a maximum 3 devices.
Assume that each job starts running with only 2 devices for a long period before requiring the third device for a short period toward the end of the job.
the supply of such jobs is endless.

So assume the scheduler in the OS will not start a job unless there are 3 devices available. When a job is started, 3 devices are assigned immediately and are not released until the job finishes. What is the maximum number of jobs that can be in executed at once? What is the minimum and maximum number of devices that may be left idle?

erm, 1 question of my assignment that bring me headache.

i'm thinking 0 is minimum of idle device or 1 is the minimum of idle device?

if multiprocessor unable execute 10 jobs at once then 1 idle device will be the minimum.

if multiprocessor able to execute 10 jobs and the third device is occupied , that's mean 0 is minimum idle device.
which one do u think it's correct ~.~

this really gonna burst my head.

any comment will be appreciated
