WD Element HDD Problem

Hi Experts,

I urgently need a help regarding my external 1TB hard disk. I am not able to boot up the hard disk and have it detected in Windows environment. When I plugged into Windows XP, few days back, it still be able to recognized to have 3 different partition, but it ask for a Format whenever I click into any of the drive. Today, the hard disk was not able to detect those drives even through the disk management console.

I tried to have it directly plugged through another SATA interface (meaning dismount from the external casing (since it's 3.5") and have it booted using my MOBO SATA interface, but still it can't be detected.

After that I tried to use Windows 7 (my lappy) to see if I can view or open the hard disk, but to my disappointment, it says it's not initialized. I tried to initialized it but it throws cyclic redundancy error and can't initialized.

Anyway I can have the hard disk make readable again as I have some important data in it which I need badly.

Please help

[addedon]May 9, 2011, 9:57 am[/addedon]No one able to help?

High latency when two comp is on at the same time?

Hi,

I have two PC connected to the internet (both wired to the same ADSL modem router). When I turned on both, I noticed that if I play online game or surfing on the Win 7 or the Win XP, it is lagging and gives a high ping (latency). When I shut down anyone, the ping resumes to normal and the high latency is gone. Can anyone explain why is that so?

This is especially happening when it comes to playing online games when the high latency will gives a potential lag. Hope someone can help out on explaining this... I thought the Streamyx combo works even if we have two or more PC connected and it should not give this high performance drop right?

Below is my ping stat (ping to google.com) when I am having two computer turned on at the same time and both are surfing the internet (Facebook, news, etc)

What could be the issue? Any extra configuration I need (by the way, I am using LinkSys WAG120N as I am an old subscriber of Streamyx and they did not provide me with a modem for a 1MB package last time.

QUOTE

Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=793ms TTL=55
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=674ms TTL=55
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=754ms TTL=55
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=592ms TTL=55
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=472ms TTL=55
Request timed out.
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=856ms TTL=55
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=873ms TTL=55
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=923ms TTL=55
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=701ms TTL=55
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=753ms TTL=55
Request timed out.
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=434ms TTL=55
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Reply from 64.233.181.99: bytes=32 time=369ms TTL=55
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Humming sound/Whizzling sound again from PSU!

Hi Experts Out there,

Need some advise.... if you guys remembered I had posted this before two months back

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1170258

Now the sound coming again from a brand new PSU unit I bought (TAGAN).... it's not that noisy and PC does not restart (I think it will if the sound stays), but the sound is there to stay even I shut down the CPU (but with current flowing in to the CPU). Really scratching my head already as I had hired a electrician to come to my house and room to check for the wall socket if there is unstable current or under powered current running but the electrician/technician denied the same as he had tested the wall socket.

I had remove all cables and direct connect my CPU unit to the wall socket and turn on the wall socket power without turning on the CPU, the sound will still be heard. Compared to last time, only after I on my CPU, the sound will be noticeable..

I tried switching new cables but the same sound will also be heard. Sometime the sound will not be there (when you on the CPU, after a while only the sound will be heard)

Really not sure what's the problem liao

I will try plugging my CPU to a different wall socket at my house tonight to try out, but if anyone had better suggestion or experiencing the same, please share and advise...

Hi All,

I noticed the whistling sound/sizzling sound coming from PSU/CPU area only last two days while booting up and going into windows. The sound become louder when Windows is loading or running in Windows. Not sure what is the problem and not dare to use the PC now. Brought the PC to computer shop, but at their side, the sound is not coming. Pretty frustrated now and one more thing is that the PC will restart automatically as well....

Hope some GURU and Masters can help me on this. Below is my PC Spec

Intel Duo Core E6600 2.4MHz
ATI Radeon 4850
Intel MotherBoard
4GB Ram (2GB each stick)
True Power PSU 600W (Top Power Brand) - According to shopkeeper, this is a True Power Unit. How true is that
Cooler Master ATX casing
2 HDD (Two Sata HDD - 500GB and 80GB each)
One DVD Writer
One back and front fan....

I am not sure what went wrong? Either my electrical outlet not enough power to supply the CPU or what? But it only happens this two days... No spikes or anything I believed as I have UPS as well... But the sounds grew louder and louder already....

It will restart automatically for these past two days with the whistling/sizzling sound. Not sure what had happened. Like to ask, is there any BIND GUI in Core 4 cause I could find any.

Another question is, cause I'm still new to Linux world, would like to know how exactly this BIND works. I google around and see about the tutorial but couldnt understand much. I need to know how to setup DNS so that the domain I registered can be used for www, ftp and mail services.....

Anyone can help or any specific links which I can refer....

Thanks in advance.........
