Need Help! Circuit Tripping

Hi! All,

Really need your help and advice here.

I have 4 downlights installed at my ground fllor living hall of my 2 storeys house , with 2 switches , each controlling 2 downlights.
Renovation was done 4-5 months back and all was fine until about 10 days ago.

Was swithched on 2 downlights with one of the switch, then suddenly the other 2 lights control by the other switch (not switched on) flickers, and eventually this has caused a breaker tripped.

Since then which ever switch I switched on, it will cause the other 2 down lights which is supposed to be in another circuit to flicker and trips the breaker.

I have opened up the switch ( which is a 1 gang 2 way switch ) and there were 2 wires coming in at top two points, and one wire at bottom point which was pigtailed and connected to another bottom point. I have disconnected the short wire that was pigtailed to the other bottom point. and yet when I switched on the complete circuit, the other 2 lights which were supposed to be disconnected still flickers and circuit eventually tripped after a while.

And I noticed there was slight dampness in one of the wires connected to the top point.

I can't really see the condition above the down lights as it is plastered ceiling which only about 4-6 inches from the actual concrete ceiling .

All advice welcome.
