laptop GPU

I own a Dell Vostro 3450 (2011 model) which ran windows 7. When I first got it, both the AMD Radeon 6630 and Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU were functioning. I can choose which to use for which conditions by using the AMD Catalyst Control Centre - Switchable Graphics.

But recently, I noticed the AMD gpu does not function. I reformatted the laptop and still couldnt get it working. I have tried downloading the drivers from Dell website but it still does not work. Downloading from AMD site directly wont solve the problem either.

I suspect the AMD gpu is dead, but Windows device manager detects the correct model but with a yellow exclamation mark (because I did not install ANY driver at all for it). To avoid Windows from updating the driver on its own and causing it to TRY and run, and later causing the laptop to stop working completely and giving me a blank black screen, I have disabled the AMD gpu from Device Manager. It is currently stating the device name as AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? As to the source of driver, installation steps, maybe I have to force the driver to be installed from a specific source or something. The laptop is now running Windows 10 Pro (x64), with all other hardware and peripherals running smoothly on its i5-2410 and 2x2GB RAM with 500gb internal HDD. Not sure if its worth mentioning but I did change the LED screen few months back, but it was after I noticed the AMD gpu stopped working. Change the LED screen because there was a vertical line on the display - which I dont think has anything to do with the AMD gpu malfunctioning.

[WTA] Dell replacement parts and service centre

I have a 2011 Dell Vostro 3450 with backlit LED

2 days ago while I was playing a game on it, a vertical yellow line suddenly appeared.

I googled and have tried the 'flashing colours' method, the 'putting light pressure' on the screen method but the vertical line is still there.

The line is visible right from the point of powering on the laptop - not only after logging into windows.

I have contacted Dell support via chat and phone, but still awaiting for their response.

Any ideas to fix the problem? or worst case, anyone or place I can go to to get a replacement LED backlit screen for my 3 yr old Dell Vostro?
