SQL problem ~.~ Need Help plzz

Hi, I need some help for my Final Year Project T_T
i doin a HR Management Web site... and having some sql problems ><

now i got a leave module ... where i include DateFrom and DateTo into the database..
when insert a new record ... i need the check the new record's DateFrom with the Existing Date range and the new record's DateTo with the Existing Date Range..

Example, in my Database, I already have DateFrom = 1/2/2011 and DateTo = 5/2/2011, so when i add new record (DateFrom = 2/2/2011, DateTo= 3/2/2011) i need to check the existing record, if the new record is within the range the existing record will return the existing record.

here is mine sql

"Select * From Leave Where EmployeeID = @EmployeeID and CompanyID=@CompanyID and DateFrom <= @newFrom and DateTo >= @newTo and DateFrom <= @newFrom and DateTo >= @newTo"

my problem is dis sql will return record even it is out of the daterange. I had try wif the 2 BETWEEN functions, but still failed~ >.<"

plz anyone here can help me solve, have think about it for whole day~ like wasting my time T_T
