Any year-end 3D TV Deal?

I am planning to buy a 3D TV (40/46) this December. I have my eyes on Samsung 7 series actually. Regardless I want to know if any one knows of any promotion (on any brand) that is going on or for that matter going to unveiled soon.

I am sure there are many like me who are looking forward to these promotions and could use this information.

Thanks all.

HDMI Trouble in Philips LCD
This is kind of weird cause one after I came from work I found that my TV (Philips 42PFL5403) is showing a blue screen when switched to a HDMI input. For a moment I thought the problem is with the Onkyo 606, which it was. But when I connected my WDTV directly to the TV it wasn't functioning either. After couple of trial and error I found that two of the three HDMI ports aren't responding at all. I am only surviving through my sole HDMI port. (HDMI 1 is working while HDMI 2 & Side HDMI isn't working)

I want to know if there are anyway to rectify the problem which I can do myself as the warranty period is over. I would also like to know if anyone had this problem and perhaps were able to deal with it.

Thanks everyone in advance.

BTW: My Onkyo 606, which was connected to Side HDMI, got its HDMI ports also become unresponsive due to a voltage surge or something during the same time.

Problem with Denon-1709

Big Big Problem with my 1709!

I didn't have this problem with getting Dolby Digital or DTS through optical connection from either my DVD player or Asus O!play. However, I've given it to my brother and he tries to do the same with his setup but he is ending up getting loud noises from his speakers, which are all custom made ranging from 6 to 16 ohms, supposedly supported by the amp as par the manual. I've looked in to the set up and couldn't figure out the problem. I've changed the setup at the O!Play to LPCM then the sound is clear for Dolby Digital but no sound for DTS. Further when I change things to raw the same noise persist. And after a couple of minutes of the loud noises the amp automatically shuts down the sound. I've tried changing the cable, the input (i.e.
input 1 & input 2), the DVD player, the speakers - the problem still remains.

I don't thing there anything damaged in the amp but I still couldn't figure out the problem. I've run the Audessy setup which works fine, just like any playing other sound source from analog. What I want to know from you people if you know I've done something wrong with the setup which I can rectify or there is a reset button which can make it to the factory default setting.

I live outside the range of any Denon service center, so I'm depending on you guys help.

Thank you all for your time.

P.S. This is already posted in the Denon Amp forum. This is reposted for further responses from other contributor to this forum.

Sound problem on Philips LCD

I'm having this weird problem which I hope isn't too serious. I've got a PS3 and WD HD Media Player where both are connected to my Philips 42" PFL5403 thrugh HDMI. It's been working fine but recently I've found that I'm getting mono sound in my TV. This I wouldn't have bothered unless I was using my TV sound out to source my AVR, which doesn't support HDMI sound.

Now my question is what am I doing wrong to get mono sound? Isn't HDMI by default carry stereo sound, providing that the source is stereo. I've checked the sources, which are PS3 games and DVD movies, which I know for a fact have at least stereo sound.

I really need someone to shed some light in this issue.

Thanks everyone.

AVR Suggestions

This is what I'm looking for an AVR with HDMI sound in 7.1/7.2 setup. Should have the HD sound codecs built in. Active zone 2 and analog video upscaling would be real plus points.

Price I can afford is around RM2k.

So what do you guys suggest? Suggestion in terms of model name, price and where to get in KL would be just great.

Thanks guys.

P.S.: I dont quite like my Denon 1709 for its poor user interface (and for its HDMI video pass through feature only)

Big! Big Problem with PS2

I had a modded PS2 for quite long and although I recently bought a PS3, I still play a lot with it. However, in my new LCD Philips PFL5403s the picture look horrible, much worse than my previous CRT. So, I searched here and there and found out that the solution is to get a PS2 component cable, which I just did yesterday. But when I connect it there is almost no picture at all. There are some glimpses of the game display for fraction of a second but it ends up with the TV saying to signal at all. It tries to show 480i signal, which shows in the TV display, but fails to do so. I've checked by LCD manual where it says that it's capable of showing 480i in both HD and SD signal. I really dont know what to do with it anymore. I would really appreciate if soeone could shed some light into my problem.

P.S. I know that the cable is fine cause I've tested it with the PS3.
