300,000 babies stolen from their parents - and sold for adoption: Haunting BBC documentary exposes 50-year scandal of baby trafficking by the Catholic church in Spain

Up to 300,000 Spanish babies were stolen from their parents and sold for adoption over a period of five decades, a new investigation reveals.
The children were trafficked by a secret network of doctors, nurses, priests and nuns in a widespread practice that began during General Franco’s dictatorship and continued until the early Nineties.
Hundreds of families who had babies taken from Spanish hospitals are now battling for an official government investigation into the scandal.
Several mothers say they were told their first-born children had died during or soon after they gave birth.

I really want to kill myself. I'm not happy. I don't think I've ever been happy. I look all around me and everybody seems so content to be alive, but I feel like everyday I have to put on a mask and pretend to be someone I'm not just to get by. I go to work everyday, I chat about bullshit, I smile, I laugh. Then I go home and stare at my computer and sob and wonder what the frecklesticks I'm doing here.

It was easy enough to bullshit my way through life, but my boyfriend of 8 years dumped me a couple months ago, and now everything just seems completely pointless. I have been suffering from absolutely crippling anxiety and depression since then.

I can't sleep, I can't keep up on chores, my house looks like shit, I can't keep up on work, I just can't seem to do anything.

The few things that used to excite me in life make me miserable now. My disposition towards life has been rapidly shifting from apathy to dread and disgust.

I didn't ask for life, and now I just want to be dead.

prison should only be for violent criminal eg; rape, murders, armed robberies..etc?

whereas white collar criminals,misdemeanors,or any other non-violence crimes should be housed in different facilities that focus on correctivity.

for example, they still have their freedoms, and can get jobs and stuffs outside, ya'know mingle with society instead of getting locked up in jail/prison.
(think of a halfway house kinda thing)

but they have to attend mandatory counselling and for 'thievery' cases, they have to pay back the money that they stole or laundered or watever.

reason is i don't see the point of locking people that doesn't physically threaten society. locking them up in a cell brings no benefits or watsoever besides that we feels good for punishing them.

Never-married men are more likely to die younger.

ScienceDaily (Oct. 13, 2011) — It is known that the unmarried are in general more likely to die than their married counterparts and there is some indication that the divide is in fact getting worse. New research published in BioMed Central's open access journal BMC Public Health looks at the changes in cancer survival over the past 40 years and show that the difference in mortality between the married and never married, especially between married and never married men, has also increased.

Håkon Kravdal from the University of Oslo and Dr Astri Syse from the Cancer Registry of Norway looked at survival data from patients diagnosed with cancer between 1970 and 2007 and compared this to their marital status -- married, never married, divorced/separated, or widowed. Their results showed that the unmarried have a greater risk of mortality regardless of age, education, site of tumour, time since diagnosis, and cancer stage. Additionally, over the 40 years for the study, the effect of never having been married on mortality increased from 18% to 35% for men and from 17% to 22% for women

Warner Bros. has preemptively purchased the high-concept pitch "Rome, Sweet Rome" from first-time scribe James Erwin, an author and two-time "Jeopardy!" champion from Des Moines, Iowa.

Erwin's pitch sale came about as a result of several postings on the website Reddit.com, an online community and social news aggregator where users vote to determine which posts land on the site's home page.

Erwin set out to answer the question: "What if a unit of current U.S. Marines are suddenly transported back to ancient Rome and forced to do battle with the Roman legions?" Pic will follow the Marines as they're flung into the past where they encounter one of the world's most legendary villains and disrupt history. To return home, they have to set history back on the track they altered.

Madhouse Entertainment's Adam Kolbrenner spotted Erwin's "Rome, Sweet Rome" posts once they reached the top of Reddit and moved quickly to contact the writer and begin working with him to develop the concept. When it came time to find a home for the project, Kolbrenner brought it to WB's Chris Gary, a young exec who encouraged the studio to move aggressively to acquire it.

Kolbrenner will produce with Gianni Nunnari ("Immortals") of Hollywood Gang, where John Ridley will oversee the project for the company. Madhouse's Robyn Meisinger will exec produce and Gary will shepherd the project for Warners.

Erwin's next book, due in 2012, chronicles the history of U.S. military actions. He's repped by Madhouse Entertainment and attorney Bruce Gellman.

Google hardly patents anything. For better or worse they've adopted a philosophy that they'd rather spend time building new stuff to stay ahead than trying to slow down competitors through anticompetitive legal tactics. It will be sad if this approach fails and Google takes a different tack (I think we're approaching that).
