Hi everyone. I am really at a dead end here hence I need advice. Let me start with my background; I am 28, F and have chemical engineering degree. Back in 2012, I join a company in OnG doing instrumentation/control systems as my first job before officially grad on 2013. Being a fresh grad at the time, I was eager and under peer pressure therefore I accept the job as a drafter (self taught myself Autocad). It went well and I was promoted to Project Engineer 3 months after joining but actually only the tittle change, the job scope stay the same. I already complained to my Engineering Manager at that time and ask why he promoted me but still stuck doing the same thing, and he said it is because the company actually not suppose to have a drafting position. I stay on because the paid was good actually and because I know its going to be hard to find another job as a few of my 3.xx cgpa still not landing any job. I forgot to mention the position was on a contract basis ( renewable every 6 months).

Finally after 1 year 3 months of doing a drafting job ( i kept pushing my EM but he is a sucky manager, even hiring another 3 engineer but still dont let me do any engineering job), i got promoted to permanent position, doing some plc and hmi in two projects only to be RETRENCHED on March 2016 while I was 6 months pregnant. After 3 years (one year permanent staff) and the reason is redundancy position. I know the OnG economy is bad, but the reason i felt unfair is because they fire 6 permanent staff and kept all the contract staff. But whats done is done..

After maternity on September 2016 I tried to find another job, even apply to other industry too but still have not secure any job, not even an interview. I have a lot of commitment and a baby too, so I need to secure a job. The reason why I am still jobless might be because
a) I lack experience ( only one year and half doing engineering)
b) I am female and this job prefer to hire male
c) The position usually require degree in electric, electronic and i am chemical
d) Experience not related to job applied

What should I do to secure a job? I do not mind a career switch. I am actually really interested in network/computer science/IT but I don't have time to earn another degree. How can I enter these industry with my current qualification? Btw, I put my expected salary already on par @ lower than fresh grad but still nothing. I graduate from private uni with average cgpa, and my uni not qualify for BEM(please dont ask why). Please help me!
