WiFi mesh or relocate modem/router + CAT6 cables

My internet connection sucks big time and I want to fix it once and for all. My current network setup is:

* fibre from the back of the house, all the way to the front through the attic
* fibre runs inside the wall into the living room downstairs
* fibre connects to modem from wall, modem connects to router
* router near the main door, below a TV

Needless to say, the WiFi coverage is pretty bad because of this setup so I was considering two options:

First option
1. Run fibre cable from attic to the middle of the house, into the upstairs living room.
2. Run CAT6 cables from router/modem into (2) rooms that require stable connection - one upstairs, one near the kitchen.
* Router/modem in upstairs living room -> attic -> back of house -> room windows -> device/POE access point.
3. Install POE access point on ceiling downstairs or in the between the stairs for maximum WiFi coverage.

Second option
1. Buy WiFi mesh devices.
2. Base station near the router, one node upstairs and one node near/inside the kitchen.

I'm leaning towards the first option because I don't trust wireless solutions unless they're enterprise grade. Also, my neighbors are mostly students so there's probably a lot of interference ((1 laptop + 1 phone ) * N students). The first option is a lot of work though and is definitely more expensive than the second so I was wondering if WiFi mesh (e.g. maxis AirTies Air4830) would improve the situation or even make any difference at all.

Thoughts?

This water heater has been bugging me for a while now. Here's the problem: the water doesn't feel hot enough even at max.

When it is really hot in the afternoon, only then I will have to reduce the power to 6 or 7. At other times, 7 and below feels like it's at room temperature or colder.

I have tried adjusting the volume filter and the bathroom's main tap but the water flow suffers greatly to even get a decent amount of heat at max.

What could be the problem?

I just found out that my car has been intentionally scratched this morning and the scratches are long and white (dark coloured car). How should I fix this? If I bring it to the workshop, how much would it cost to repair it?

Dell warranty

I have a dell inspiron 14/N4030 and I just found out that the fan isn't working anymore causing it to overheat and shut down unexpectedly.

I bought the laptop in Sept 2010 so the warranty period is obviously over.

What can I do to fix it? If I call the technician, how much does it usually cost to repair/replace the faulty parts?

I installed mirc recently but I can't seem to join any servers. It says the connection timed out. Even website-embedded irc doesn't work. I googled the problem and it seems to be affecting those using unifi. Anyone else using mirc experiencing this?

Laptop factory reset

I asked my friend to install Windows 7 Pro 32-bit on my laptop which came pre-installed with Windows 7 Home 64-bit. He told me something about not being able to use the factory reset again once a standalone OS is installed on the machine. After a while, I wanted to do a factory reset but nothing changed. Is it possible to re-enable the factory reset option?

GTX 460 min. power requirement

A few days ago my system failed POST (system didn't beep during power on) and I suspect it's the gpu that's causing it. I unplugged it and the system beeped again when powered on.

I am planning to get the GTX 460 but I am not sure if my psu can handle it.

Current system specs are:

- C2D E8400 (3.0 ghz)
- 2x 2 GB 800 mhz DDR2 RAM
- ASUS EN9800GT
- 460 W PSU (real power is about 430 W according to some reviews)

I built this system back in Dec 2008 and the only problems I've faced are all related to the gpu. The psu is a Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 460W. EVGA recommends a 450 W psu for their GTX 460.

Should I upgrade my psu as well?

Rechargeable batteries not working on Wiimote?

For some unknown reason, my set of rechargeable batteries doesn't work on the Wiimote. When i slot it in and press any button, the LEDs didn't flash at all. At first i thought that i was using uncharged batteries but I tried it on my TV remote and it works.

Any idea why is this happening?

Hi everyone, my dad is buying me a laptop for my undergrad studies and i don't really know much about laptops. I'll be using it for work (60%) and gaming (40%). I don't really play graphics-heavy games eg. crysis, mostly cs 1.6, wc3, hon, etc but i'd like to try SC2 on the laptop as well.

At the moment, i am looking at the Dell Inspiron 14R (RM 2099 on Dell's website).

GPU clock does not match default clock

I noticed something unusual during a thorough check up of my system:

Even though the difference is 1-5 MHz, it is still bugging me out. I have noticed deeper fps drops and temporary freezes during gameplay. Before this it was perfectly 650/970/1625.

- Card temperature is fine
- Tried replugging it
- Tried reformatting
- Tried different drivers
